Surely signing this many players on the England fringe has to be an issue. They already have the best side in the league by quite some distance, anymore signings and they could blow away the division every year.

Maybe thinks it's a better shop window over the next few years for his England chances.

Bairstow won't carry on forever, Stokes won't either with his dodgy knee, Root has potentially years to go but with his dodgy back he's only ever one injury away from a prolonged stint out. No reason Lawrence wouldn't fancy his chances to step in.

This is starting to get silly now! What's the record for most CC titles in a row?

I suspect Jason Roy will be leaving at the end of his contract to take an IPL white ball contract.

I also wonder if there are other players leaving Surrey.

But there are so many good pathway players coming through.

Also I thought there was a salary cap...

Lawrence is a very good player, with Foakes likely to be available all season they are a formidable team.

The only thing is he is another middle order player so his England chances must be limited

There is a cap - certainly seems like we're OK anyway

I'm pretty sure it's about him feeling that Surrey can improve him a cricketer. He's a massive talent, but his career has stalled somewhat.

Think batting at the Oval will be far easier than at Chelmsford. And spending time carrying drinks for England rather than playing will do that to most players.

Worcs have sent their 10 and 11 in as openers after following on. Love it!  :D

Baby’s sent Abbot and Organ in at 2 and 4 after a similar tail end rally too.

Very depressing being a Worcs fan. We lost are 2 best players last season in Mo Ali & Ed Barnard to Warwickshire, This season we see that Josh Tongue and Dillon Pennington are Notts bound, as well as Pat Brown to Derby. Now, today it's been released that Jack Haynes is also off to Notts. Not sure how they can compete effectively as a county if they constantly have all their best players nicked, mostly by Test playing counties!
