no mate i agree....no one would ever think of using that in cricket helmets!

had a chuckle when reading albions ultimate 98 helmet details earlier.....found our first leaflet from October 2008 as well...think they must have used it as their template lol

The old impala stickers were awesome and really good quality but then South australia redbacks sued them and they were forced to remove the animals from their stickers. Does anyone know if impala are still around or if they shut down?

Impala went bust, I think once GCCC stopped stocking them due to their products not being as good as they used to be, they lost their main source of business so they went bust. But I think they are going to re-open, not too sure when but thats what I read somewhere, can't exaclty remember where I read it though. GCCC went with bradbury instead, so hopefully Impala can go good again as they were a good brand a few years ago.

Impala make bats for half the aussie team, maybe if they went bust it would explain why aus were so poor in the ashes if they had all been given planks!

I had an Impala redback i bought from GCCC and it was a lovely bat picked up beautifully and am pretty sure it had some sort of counterbalance handle..... was great whilst using out in oz but back here the high middle was wasted and broke after too many drives low on the bat....... was a nice bat tho

I don't think they've made bats for the Aussie team for sometime now. I am 99% sure they went bust as their website does not exist anymore, even when you type it in google no impala sports website comes up.

Impala went bust in 2008

They couldn't have gone bust in 08 as I have last seasons GCCC catalogue 09-10, and they had all the Impala gear in their still, Bats, pads and gloves. So they must have gone for this season and maybe just revamping their brand.

Yeah the females used to be mainly sponserd by impala and they don't get anywhere near the amount of money than the blokes and pretty much have to buy their own kit, so they would have otten the bats 09-10 and thats not that long ago so they probs just keep the bats instead of buying new ones.

I was in Australia in 08 at G.C.C.C. and he said they bought loads of Impala kit so they just sold it off..

It was what i was told but look at the stickers out of the catalogue and the softs there the same from the previous season..

I had a good chat with a bloke from Kingsgrove Sports who corroborated what he said...

They do not sell them anywhere now to my knowledge

Could be wrong but the 3 leading cricket shops in Aus

Kingsgrove
Meulamans
Greg Chappell

None stock them i guess the brand is dead as we know it maybe they downsized

My bad, should have known as Impala bought out near range and GCCC still had the stuff from the previous year. On the GCCC facebook page someone asked if they still stocked Screaming cat or Impala and their response was;

"No we don't stock either. The owner of Screaming Cat (Julian Millichamp) decided to scale back the amount of bats he produced. It was very sad to see them go. Also after many good years the quality of Impala stated to decline, so we went with Bradbury."

Maybe an attempt to make Newbs more visually appealing to youngsters...you know how when you're young you like a colourful bat lol... :)
