What an achievement from the master. It was a great innings today and i hope he can get to 15000 before he retires.

51.1 Siddle to Tendulkar, 3 runs, That's the record! He lunges forward to a full delivery outside off and deftly glides it down to third man, he pumps his fists as he completes the second run, he's now the highest run-scorer in Tests beating Lara's tally of 11,953, fireworks go up in the stadium, he gets a rousing standing ovation from the crowd and his team-mates, there's a brief hold up in play as the fireworks seem to last forever! All the Australians rush to congratulate him. The Australians are taking a breather, normal service has been disrupted, that's for sure! Incidentally, Lara overtook Allan Border's record against Australia as well, in Adelaide in 2005

No it's in India, so starts around 4:30/5:00 am and finishes around mid-day.

Awsome achievement. If Kris Srikanth is to be believed, Sachin would play for at least 2-3 more years. If he does so, He will surely cross 15,000 milestone...and Ponting can kiss goodbye to his dreams of overtaking Sachin.

Was a bit fortunate a couple of times but apart from that it was the best i've seen Sachin play in along time.

Pontings body is holding up much better than Sachins, I believe Ponting will go past Tendulkar and become the top run scorer in test cricket, maybe then he'll get the credit he deserves..

What a champion hope he continues for at least 2 or 3 more years, Ponting is not in the class of Lara or Sachin if he does get the record it wuld be quite sad. As for Sachin what a gun!! Unbelievable!! 12,000 Interesting to note Ishant Sharma got his 100th run in test as well!!!

The anticipation of him emerging from the pavilion, and his walk from the boundary to the centre, is almost surreal. The sound of a passionate Indian crowd all chanting "Sachin, Sachin" as they wait in anticipation, followed by the enormous roar when he emerges onto the field, is electrifying.

Ponting is good batsman. I would put him a shade below Sachin and Lara.

However, if you look at all the attributes that make a great cricketer, I feel there is a wide gap after Sir Don Bradman and Sachin. Alan Border, Sunil Gavaskar, Pointing, LAra etc....all were not gentlemen in the true sense of the game. Some of them were jsut playiong for themselves or the records during the later part of their careers....

Playiong for the pure love for the game and because they enjoyed playing .... Sri Don and Sachin are probably the only examples one can give to today's youngsters...

The Game....COuntry and them self..... thats the way to play....
