Chawla, Mishra, Ashwin, Jadeja = Not World Class!!!

amit mishra is a strange one, was a great prospect but never really lived up to his name. hes 29 now and seems like his chance has now gone ?

Chawla is probably the closest but he hasn't really prooved much yet.

Never said Jadeja was World class, has potential. Don't put words into my mouth.

Not really, world class is in world terms- a first class average doesn't reflect that.The leggies at India's disposal are probably the best around, and I think both Mishra and Chawla have the potential to make an impact on the world stage. Kaneria's test match record is far superior to them both- granted he had a shocking tour of England- hopefully he will be back.

Still i'd take all them over Rashid at the moment, i'd like to see more of him bowling- doesn't seem to turn it a great deal

Absolutely, first class averages doesn't make them a World Class player. I would regards a world class bowler who has the potential to bowl well all around the world and not just sub-continental pitches.

All I'm saying is that they haven't shown that they are as you say World Class players.

From what I have seen of them so far both in IPL etc, they have the quality and temperment to be world class, not now maybe but 3/4 years. Being a spinner in India doesn't guarantee wickets, just like being a seamer in England, so to have an average of 27 is highly commendable.

With regards to the Indian fringe spinners. I wouldn't call any of them World Class, but I would rather have Mishra, Chawla, Ashwin etc over other countries fringe spinners.

India's current leg spinners don't really fit the bill of how a leg spinner should be in India. India's two most successful leg spinners have been Kumble and Chandrasekhar. They both bowled differently to say Warne or MacGill. Quick through the air, pinning batsmen in the crease. Therefore Indian captains are reluctant to play (normal) leg spinners, as they tend to go for more runs. Additionally India loves playing left arm spinners, therefore a left arm spinner will be priority over a leggie.

With regards to Ravindra Jadeja, he's crap. Full stop.

jeet i agree but i would rather have Mr Sick Cat than any spinner in the world but would rather have mr Swagbag and Mr Runs please over any
batsman in the world....


in my 31 years on this planet there has been no better than MR Runs and i doubt if i live to a 100 i will be lucky to have seen better
