They are fairly 'wrap around' in the design, so there is less need to wear them in I guess.

I couldn't resist any longer, just ordered some of the morrants international ultralites. If you use code AOC2011 you get free delivery so just under £80 in total. Looking forward to them arriving and I hope they're as good as everyone says.

I've now bought a redback paradox, new gloves, new pads and other stuff since joining the forum 6 months ago and also emailed Kieron yesterday to buy a bulldog basher - I'd love an Ayrtek helmet too but might need to wait a bit to let my wallet recover.

Thanks the pics you've posted work fine, you can certainly see why they're so light. Not had a despatch email yet but hopefully they'll be sent soon. When they get here I might need to stick them on and try to run in them in our garden. Neighbours will think I'm mad and my dog will probably go mental but it's got to be done.

Has anyone over here used AS V10 batting pads? They look quite nice for the price.

Weighed the 909 D3O pads that I got cheap from Sports Direct in the sale. They are not light pads and tip the scales at 909g (okay 900, but I thought it was a nice bit of alliteration). This is 50% heavier than my Hunts County Triumph bads, but being hit by the ball at 70mph, they definitely offer more protection, and are lighter than the straight 909s.

D3o material makes any stuff heavy; there are videos of Ski hats made of D3o which offer great protection but are a bit more heavy. Those pads look very nice by the way. :D

Except that on the GM site, the 909 normal pads are quoted at about 1.85kg for the pair, versus 1.66kg for the d3o equivalent in the same range ???
