My turn!
On what was a very very early morning me and tom trotted down to gm in the trusty vw, which like to wipe the windscreen so much it wouldnt stop! Having getting lost on the wrong side of the railway and ending up at some kind of school that looked like it had been burgled many times and had barbed wire and graffiti everywhere we quickly got the iphone out and made a u turn to the correct place!
Will firstly say it was a pleasure to meet everyone, all the guys from here and csf were great and made the day even better.
Thanks to ed and his lads for the very educational and fun day. Being one of the two nippers of our team i learnt so much about not only the making of bats by companies but the whole inside workings of gm, which was very decent and succeeded what i thought it was going to be before going in. Seeing there whole range was great even if their video was a long'un with little interest paid after the bats, pads and gloves sections
, but some top tunes to accompany the video eased the longevity! The factory was great and all workers seemed more than happy for a few of our lads to try their hands at a couple of activities! As well as tom ruining the cnc by waving a bat in front of the stop line, I'm sure the gm guys will notice a dip in quality in todays bats!!
Buffet lunch was lovely and filled the massive hole i had after wine gums for breakfast.
Q+A , learning about cnc machine designing and touching, trying on the whole new range was the last part of the day. This was extremely enjoyable and a great insight into the whole process behind designing bats. The gm lads took all that we had to throw at them and seemed to take it on board, however i think there may have been a lot more thrown at them if this had been done pre-tour. Thats how great it was to see it all in action.
Finally the range. Have to say i like the new stickers except the back one, but its not as bad as first seen. The embossed logo's is brilliant and would cast a shadow on the fakes people were worried about! The luna grew on me throughout the day, the pick up on them seems great and the scoops aren't as severe as it first looked to us.
Again thanks to all the lads at GM for a cracking day out, thoroughly enjoyed by us all and a very worthwhile experience for any age and any level of experience! Even if they did join in with the slight bullying of me being the smallest there, i am proud of my medium polo! and probably needed a small just to make it all worse
!
Then it was nets, a daunting two hour net. Being drafted in as the young gun bowling machine i probably did the least, but more than enough talent to see out the 2 hours. Loved the banter and general chat with all the guys, and btw love the sidearm we used!
Then onto the pub for friendly discussions about everything and anything whilst watching tv! A great day and hope to meet the guys again sometime as enjoyed their company.
Cheers all!
