Would have to really stupid to buy one of those... absolutly ludicrous to sell a bat for that much, but good luck to them if they sell any. Lavers £800 for two bats and all the accessories seems far more reasonable.

They sold 4 this summer, I like the stickers, minimal and the logo is raised up a lot so you can really feel it.

But surely:
Quote
It is a bespoke product beyond compare that will be completely customised. The owner will be invited to our workshop where we will manufacture the blade and handle to his or her requirements at any weight they wish in front of their eyes, using the finest English willow. The customer can return at any stage of the process to check on its manufacture and make any changes.
Is no different to what SAF, Robert Pack, Matt H4L, etc offer at 20% of the price?

"one of the most important aspects in the manufacture of the Cenko is the pressing of the willow"

Surely they are trying to press each bat as well as they can anyway?!

It is a fabulously clever bit of marketing. By offering this bat, Newbery will be talked about, as evidenced by this thread. Because the bats are custom made, they don't have to make any to carry as stock and risk them not selling. If they do sell any, they will make a spectacular profit on each one.

It is a near perfect business model. We are seeing more bat makers offer a similar thing now. Laver, Matrixx, GN with the Legend, Slaz with their 2 high end aussie models etc. All because it is virtually risk free.

I love newbery bats but this just seems a bit gimmicky. Just a competitor for James Laver in the rich boys toys Market. For me to pay £1000 for a bat I'd have to have won the lottery or stupidly drunk. Plus i would expect it to do the batting for me, make my tea and clean my whites  ;)

i'm sure there is a market for it, but given the choice i would go for the laver as you get 2 bats.

Also are these Newbery the best clefts becasue of performance or looks?

PS, Mike if you see this, I need your paypal!

I'm sure there are a few hedge-fund managers plying their trade in the Surrey leagues that it may appeal to.
