If people with the means to do so want to buy one of these, fair play to them. If I was in the position that a grand for a bat was acceptable, I think I'd have one too.

However a benefit of being a member here is knowing that you don't have to spend a grand to get top Newbery willow.

You get to meet Tim and watch him make it, maybe it is worth it, maybe not but I bet they sell them.

Don't assume this to be a leading question, just take it on face value, but;

Is it possible such an instance could be arranged by other means, or is that not possible due to this offer now in place?

Having seen bats sell for £60k and having received offers in excess of £35k (although both could have been memorabilia or for use) there are people willing to part with money for the best.

I guess you're paying for the experience and bragging rights more than anything.

It is, I think it is Andrew who has gone in with some friends to buy Newbery as a hobby.

SO Newbery are no longer owned by the family?

Its nothing to do with Cenkos the company though is it? Thought it was just the name picked by Newbery?

As Talisman pointed out Newbery and Cenkos do have connections.

Excuse me my arrogance but what exactly is 'Cenkos'? I thought it was just a random name Newbery selected like Thruxton, Krakatoa etc
