In some cases yes but in other no i get a blank ss ton grade 1 off asad for 120 and it is every bit as good as bats twice the price i think your right though the Indian market are making there prices higher in both bats and soft's....including the soft's branded by company's over here

The main difference will be in the pressing, with English manufacturers putting more care and attention into their pressing and asian manufacturers less so and just going by a standard for each bat. Although asian bats are a bit of a lottery, you will get the odd one pressed perfectly, and some not so. The problem being with a lot of asian bats having poor toes due to the pressing.
Handles on asian bats can be poor too, with asian bats sometimes using cheaper quality handles.
I prefer English bats for this reason and will continue to support English based companies. Afterall, it all supports our economy!! Although I wouldnt mind trying an SS in the future as they seem very popular with this forum and i'm sure they churn out some mean bats.

I suppose. So it is effectively £80 stickers? Do we know why the blanks are not labelled? Seems an easy way of making more money, so why don't they do it?

I think your right you have to shop harder to finds that match bat but when you do it is every bit as good as your English counterpart...

Handles i agree some are no more than sawdust and talcum powder but some are very good indeed..

I think i am seeing more and more Asian made bat in England and suggest it a mixture of price and quality the reason

For the blanks the reason there cheap because of the lesser mark up from Asad as he goes over and hand picks them and as far as iam aware is the only distributor of ss ton blanks in the uk

Then there the Uk market it a hard one with so many bat's been made by one company and the different prices although they have been all pressed at the same place

In my opinion Asian made bats are not as good as English made bats for the following reasons.

English made bats have superior balance and pickup and the quality of pressing is streets ahead of Asian made bats

Not to mention that most if not all Asian made bats come with a round handle as I prefer the feel of an oval handle.

I probably can't tell,  however I choose local makers because tney are local and cheaper than top end pakistan or indian. E. G. H4l and saf.

Honestly, I amnot bothered if a bat is made in the UK or made in India. The only factors that influence my choice are feel and performance (rebound with a mallet or with my Dukes Ashes issue cricket ball).

If I can get the right bat for less, great. But I will certainly not pay more for a bat that does not feel right irrespective whether it is made in the UK or India or is made by Newbery (or any other UK batmaker)or SS (or any other Indian batmaker).

I do agree that pressing is an issue with Indian batmakers, but then if I am spending the money then I need to put in the effort to find the right bat at the lowest possible price.

Handles used by the likes of SS, BAS and SG are very good.

Every top end bat from Newbery or M&H or Salix will not feel or perform the same (assuming you are companing bats with the same weight and in the same profile). I have seen some Newbery Players bats which feel and tap-up better than a SPS bat in the same range and simialry for Salix Performace and Grade 1 bat.

Buying the most expensive bat from a top brand does not gaurantee performance (the final judging factor for any bat).

Has anyone tried a blind test to compare a UK made bat with a bat amde in India, just based on the feel and the performance?

Since a lot of folks seem to be unhappy with the pressing of the toe on indian bats, was wondering if a lot of knocking in can remedy the toe?  Or is it just a wasted effort?

If you contact the factory directly then some have them. For example, MB Malik in Pakistan. I thought they only had round handles but when I ordered my bats they did have oval/semi ovals.
