Helmet for Keeping?

What's the best helmet to keep in, I'm currently just wering a cap when standing up. But I'd prefer something to be protecting me. Something less bulky which wouldn't bother me?

Is the Masuri Keeping one really that good?

I have used either the aero face mask which is very good but I have worn my ayrtek otherwise as is light

Never been a fan of the masks, what happens if it hits the side of your head. Ayrtek does look a good option!

Don't look away and it won't lol with the new liner the ayrtek is unrivalled but that's just my opinion

not worn a lid keeping since under 17's

restrict your view a grate deal specialy when balls goes up in air high.

but will defently be testing the arytek stud up.

as i get a bit scared standing up to 70mph lol

I used to be like that. As soon as I was old enough I stopped wearing a helmet to keep. I used to think that it impaired vision, and was hampering my game, but that's all nonsense in my eyes. It was more of an excuse! haha

I use a Masuri titanium for keeping and it's fantastic. Does exactly what it says on the tin and I now hardly ever notice it. Although at the best part of £100 is a little pricey.

The thing about standing up to medium pacers is that you can do everything right, but if the ball bounces strangely off the wicket, or a batsmen nicks a quick one it could easily hit you in the face and causing massive damage.

agree with you there mate ive been hit 2/3 times in the head and face and its not a good thing.

hurts a little bit like lol

i didnt have a helmet to ware in the 1st place but ive got an arytek now so will deffently be using that stud up to pace. think with the spinners ill be ok with out.

ive never batted with a helmet as well so just been trying to get used to that as well

Don't know about you, but batting in a helmet gave me more confidence as I was less worried about getting hit in the face. The result being that I started hooking better!

Can't believe that you have never worn a helmet batting! Especially when you say that you stand up to 70mph bowlers then surely you play at a high level. Meaning fast bowlers. I've faced Langeveldt, Nannes, De Wet and Harwood to name a few and I wouldn't consider not wearing a helmet at all!

Also you say that you won't wear a helmet when standing up to spinners. I think you should reconsider this! You can do everything right but still end up with a ball in your mouth! Dentistry is NOT cheap!!!

Yeah Simmy, isn't it something like better safe than sorry... ;) I always wear a lid when I stand up too, but I still would even if I was 18+....

Our main keeping never used to wear a helmet when standing up to spinners...only when standing up to medium pacer!
But a couple of years ago, the batsman top edged one and it caused huge damage to his eye socket and cheek! Not sure what the damage was as I wasn't there at the time, but it took months and months to repair. And not he always wears one when he stands up! I guess you just have to get hit once for you to change!

Stories like that make me want to wear a helmet even more, I've had matches where the bowlers been running in and I've wondered wether this could be the last ball I keep to. Probably not the greatest feeling to have?

Heading towards a Masuri Ti, Would love a Ayrtek and like the look of them. Just don't think other would.

Very True, What is the Price difference between the two? Masuri and Ayrtek?
