Did anyone see any of the WC opening ceremony today? It went on for 4 hours! I think they're a waste of time, I saw a bit of it on Sky Sports News - but couldn't imagine watching it all. Just get on with the cricket!

I would open with bell as the techique he has hits the ball in the right areas down the ground, compared to prior who hits the ball square + peterson works the ball into his favoured leg side, just my opinion.

This is going to sound absolutely mental. But id open with Graham swann as a pinchhitter. (Dont know if hes fit or not?) Just to try and get the innings off to a flyer and if it doesen't work there is Trott at 3 to steady the ship, Wouldn't put bell up the top, nor prior. Michael Lumb wouldn't of been a bad shout. (Again, dont know if he's fit)
Agreed, been advocating this on another cricket forum, he does it for Notts, and if you tell him to go after it he will, especially in pitch-up conditions like the first 10 overs where he gets on the front foot and drives well!

That's a good shout. Swanny's the man! :D - He's done it with success for Notts, but whether he could deal with people like Shaun Tait and Brett Lee in the 1st 10 overs with a potentially swinging new ball would be the worry the England coaching staff would have surely?

Think my comments been deleted? Still been quoted so not sure whats gone on there. Yeah Swanny is no mug with the bat, he's faced pace before but i see what you mean, If it so happens that he cant cope with it, and he fails....then its only swanny, not one of our top 6 when it comes to talent so wouldn't be a massive problem.

Not a bad shout with Swanny opening, just can't see England doing it.

The favourites have got to be India, but their bowling attack isn't the best... I can see SA doing well.

NZ have a decent batting lineup, but as you said - they've got a poor bowling attack. They got hit for 360odd the other day in a warm up game against India the other day.
