No, our people do not make a habit of doing that...

What I said was that GM is "the brand that is on the move upwards", I did not say - because it isn't - that GM is the biggest brand in Oz. Yet.

GM has been rebuilding through excellent new distributors in Sydney for the past couple of years. 2010/2009 we are some 80% up. Suggest you talk to GCCC about their GM prospects for 2011.

Kind regards

Edward

Thanks for your response Edward.

The guys at GCCC hardly have their finger on the pulse on what is going down. They are stuck in the 80's in fact and are utterly clueless to be kind.

As I alluded to in my previous post, SS are easily in third place just behind Kookaburra (for now) and a little bit further behind powerhouse GN.

We are talking about the FASTEST growing brand of bats in the Oz market - and you know how many SS bats or softs GCCC stock?

If you answered "zero" you would be correct.

Infact, such things as super lite pads do not exist at GCCC - I had to get my GM RSB's direct from the UK. If you want Morrants or BDM superlites, you must order from the UK or India.

Somehow, every third player I play with or against has superlite pads of some description, yet they are not available at GCCC?

Nearly half the players of most teams wield SS bats - yet GCCC in their wisdom, does not stock them.

I will for a laugh ask the enlightened guys at GCCC what they think of GM's future prospects here in OZ, but irrespective of what answer they give me, their floor space dedicated to each brand tells you all you need to know.

Ten plus meters dedicated to GN bats. Fairly similar for Kookaburra bats...and then a meter and half for GM bats.

There is no disgrace in that Edward and nor is it a reflection on the quality of your bats - as I said, SS are on the road to challenging GN for #1 status over the next few years yet GCCC do not stock their gear at all.

Throwing around figures like "80% increase" mean nothing to me at all.

Glenn McGrath increased his batting average by 80% in the latter part of his test career.

Virender Sehwag increased his batting average by 10% in the last seven years.

Make of that what you will.

Thanks for taking the time to respond mate, and yes, I understand that the competitive and cost prohibitive bat making process means that India is the Eldorado of any brand that wishes to survive and prosper in the future, not Australia.

Cheers mate,
Vic

I dont think you can say SS is challenging GN and Kookaburra in just what you see in your area in your nets. I see alot of cricket in a lot of places in Sydney and to be honest see very little SS. Obviously with multiculturalism and the increasing rise of bats more and more people are looking at EBAY and India for decent quality bats at cheaper prices, somthing obviously a brand like GM does not really offer.

I can assure you on somthing though. One big cricket shop in OZ stocks plenty of SS but hardly sells anything and I can assure you of this. If you wanted the proportion of SS Bats sold to say Kookaburra or GN I do not lie or exhagerate when I say it would be around 50 to 1. Sure there are reasons for this, many being if you want a brand like SS you are probably better getting it straight from India for a fair less chunk of the price, but even still. Shane WAtson is really pushing GM, I assure you of that. They were already popular but since the release of the Icon and the Flare GM has sold through the roof. The problem is the amount ordered from a shop Im referring to is very little and for example  sold all out of GM Flare LE Bats before other brands had even had one of there top end bats sold. Not many people wanted a bar of the APEX which was the other mainstream bat bought.  If there was a statistic for bats sold in compared to time in the shop (EG - How many Flares sold in proportion to the days spent in the shop) compared to any other bat I can assure you the FLARE would be by far the most popular bat in Sydney this year with the Slazenger Ultimate (michael clarke endorsed), which is always another very popular bat. Just for whatever reason numbers arent getting bought originally, again probably to do with the high costs to get GM compared to other brands so companies may not buy as many.

funny thing you mention people going for a cheaper bats from India then mention Kookaburra (you telling me there not indian sg made)....

I suspect SS sell more than any brand unit wise or in the top 3 in the planet with there stickers on or somebody elses

Funny that most brands outsource much of there batmaking to India in some capacity

back on topic i saw a Luna this morning top quality profile indeed and the finish on the one i saw was top class

SG are the biggest bat makers.

Kookaburra are an Australian brand so people on the whole do not associate them with an Indian factory. They make no reference to where they are made on purpose but GM make plenty to it as they make their own bats and are rightly proud.

You would be an opener Edward, playing a straight bat to the hostile comments and helping yourself to an easier one..... ;)
