India v Pak
SL V NZ
Who will win?
-
Pakistan and sl I'd go for.
-
why do u say that?
-
Just think Pakistan will have enough to beat india, the majority of their team is on top form. Sl will just be too strong for nz unless Taylor or mccullam fires for them.
-
New Zealand will upset Sri Lanka Guys like McCullum, Ryder and Taylor will take it to their spinners. Murali must be a doubt as he was barely moving towards the end of his spell today.
India are superior to Pakistan and should ease to victory.
-
Pakistan and NZ for me
-
SL v Pakistan for me.
-
Why are India superior to Pakistan?
I'd say India has them in the batting department but Pakistan have a far better bowling attack. Should be a really good match if both sides play to their potential.
-
India to win, SL to give them a run for their money
-
Nz to sneak it all .........
-
Nz to sneak it all .........
This, hopefully. I reckon they'll make the final at least anyway
-
Quite pleased my NZ as outsiders has at least proved half true. I fear Sri Lanka will have too much for them in terms of batting as proved yesterday.
Think Pakistan vs India is set to be a great game....no idea who will win that one!

Pakistan's two best bowlers Afridi and Gul aren't very successful vs India. Pakistan's batting is very brittle
-
I think England will win it
soup anybody day 2 we always come back stronger
-

I think several collapses for India mean Pakistan will have to worry less about their brittle batting. As long as they are focused, things are going to remain positive.
And its the bowlers for me who will win the cup, batsmen are crucial but we have seen 338 getting chased coz of week bowling.

Bangalore was the flattest wicket in living history, it could've rivaled Multan... Additionally India's best bowling combination wasn't used in the tied game.
The so called batting collapses occurred when India where when 267-1 vs SA and 305-3 vs England. Both scores are far too many for the brittle Pakistani batting line up.
-
Used pitch for the first semi, good luck with that NZ!
-
i think a slow pitch suits NZ more. if they bat first and get to 250, i am sure they will defend it.
-

Fair call.
On the same note, while Pakistan are susceptible to collapses in the batting department the Indian bowling attacks two seniors (Zaheer and Harbhajan) haven't got the greatest of numbers against Pakistan either.
Regardless of result if Pakistan play well it should be a very good match!
-
think NZ are gonna have to bowl very well. 217 ao. similar result to the last SL game i think
-
Indeed, NZ looked as though they were going well then there was a collapsa and SL did well in the end to bowl them out.
It'll be tough for NZ to win this game, however SL could be a batsman down in Matthews as he went off limping gingerly.
-
Who says fat men can't field? Ryder takes a stunner!!!
-
The lad McKay played as a Pro at Arbroath a few years ago, had some serious gas when I played against him.
-
I hate games like this. . . one way traffic.
win or lose . . .i want to see a scrap. . . .let shope tomorrows game is a better one.
-
I can see there being a bit more spice to tomorrows game
But pitch seems a road plus a not very potent nz attack pretty boring but at least does not make us look as bad
-

It's a scrap now, especially if NZ can prise one more out in the next ten runs.
-
Yup - not quite a proper scrap, but a lot more tense than expected. Makes you wonder what could have happened on Saturday had there been 30 more runs and an early SL wicket....
-
So the big one starts in 10mins, India won the toss and are batting first.
Massive game, Still feel as though there could be an upset today though.
-
Think shoaib should be playing but nice touch to make it a public holiday in Pakistan shows you how big it is
-
How the hell has Ashwin been dropped and Harbhajan retained? Bhajji doesn't ever look like taking wickets...
-
After India's start it's going to take some fight back for Pakistan to get back into the game.
-
Another slow start for India
Big wicket though that looked like outside leg very tight
-
Pakistan missed a trick by not playing Shoaib, First blood to India by winning the toss.
Statistically they are in a better position to win the game.
-
Tendulkar living a charmed life!
LBW, stump and then a catch!
CLueless against Ajmal.
-
Better to be lucky than good
-
Seems odd watching Tendulkar bat with a clean bat, used to seeing that battered trusted bat of his now
-
Watching this on the main Norwegian national TV channel which is a bit of a wierd experience.
-
Another life for Tendulkar..
-
Another drop for sachin
-
Pak don't seem to want to get SRT out today. Misbah and Younus both been genorous
-
Kohli gone!
Still using that GM but it was huge!! Edge easily flew at gully!
-
and now yuvraj!
-
Just think if they had got sachin??????????
Yuvi a big wicket there as he has been in top form
-
Sachin's go slow has cost India two wickets
-
Sachin's go slow has cost India two wickets
Surprised by your comment Jeet.
You need someone to anchor. Sachin always catches-up.
-
Awesome delivery first-up to Yuvi. Any batsmen's nightmare.
-
Sachin takes his time to start then catches up whenever I have watched him bat
-
If the rest all get out then he won't get a chance to catch up!
-
If the rest all get out then he won't get a chance to catch up!
If he gets, out then there is not much left either!!
Is there anyone left in the dressing room with his skill, technique and temperament?
-

Not really his fault is it though.
I'd hardly say RR is the main issue at the moment.
-

Simple answer is no lol.
Bizarre to leave out Ashwin as he's a brilliant bowler but solid with the bat.
-
Another life for Tendulkar!!
-

Since Sehwag and Gambhir got out boundries are not coming. Sachin has to hit boundries to ease pressure on the new batsmen.

I also had him in my fantasy team, so I'm furious.
Seriously, I do think they could be left regretting leaving him out though, especially as Nehra is very average at best.
-
Another life for Tendulkar!!
CD its not Ind vs Pak unless Kamran shells a catch!
-
Considering the wickets have been falling at regular intervals, Sachin's strike rate of 83% is not bad at all.
-

As I said though, RR was still up around 5.5, could easily afford a few quieter overs to let someone get set. I'd rather that than have a set batsman take more risks than required in the middle overs, having 2 new batsmen in at once would have been far worse.
-
Jeet, if Tendulkar was out right now then India would have been in worst situation.
-

He should be out!
-
If Sachin is still batting in 10 overs then India would have a great platform and post a good score.
If he departs now there will be the inevitable collapse. Dhoni owes the team a long overdue 50 plus.
-
Another life!!!!
-
He should be out!
Sorry, does not look like you will get your wish anytime soon. Allah and Pakistan are with Tendulkar today :)
-
Will he raise his bat if he gets dropped once more for his 5 for
-
Me thinks he will be gone in 90s
-
Sorry, does not look like you will get your wish anytime soon. Allah and Pakistan are with Tendulkar today :)
Yash as you know, I wouldn't want Sachin to get out. But I've never seen anyone dropped 4 times!
-
There he goes..
-
have India got enough runs i am not sure
-
Is it me or that pitch a bit green. The left armer seemed to be get a fair bit of movement as well, the dropped catch off Dhoni certainly moved away.

There was heavy rain last night in Punjab, so moisture may have got under the covers and caused the green tinge.

Reserve swing it was if I remember correctly
-
If India reach 260 that could be very competative score.
Gul is falling apart but Ajmal still cant be picked even after 45 overs.
-
Whoever said Ajmal is a sh*t bowler in a previous topic is a numpty.
-
India should be disappointed. Gul and Afridi nullified but still didn't reach 300
-
India Mumbai bound!!
The superior side as well prevails over 100 overs!!!
5 WC matches and 5 wins for India vs Pak!!!
-
fair play to them put in the best performance on the day with both bat and ball ......should be a great final!!!
-
ive got a big smile on my face watching the teams shake hands, i think more should have been made of the friendship between the two teams (even if they had to fake it) to show the people of their respective countries that the other country are human just like them.
-
Could've been a different game if Pakistan could've held on to their chances.
-
The team that withstood the pressure won. Pakistan had improved their fielding over the last 4 months but could not cope with the pressure.
-
Looking forward to great final, will it be Murali or Sachin enjoying a final swansong?
-

Murali on one leg will be dismantled by India

But from 120 ODI's, India won 47 and Pakistan 69.

World Cup 100% record.
I never mentioned the overall record.
Pakistanis clutching at straws...

to be perfectly honest, it was Pakistan's experienced players who let them down
and I love how you think I'm Pakistani... England all the way :)

Change your name to wazzastrauss then lol!

Jeet
You may have the master but they have Sangakkara it should be a good final.
I think England will win it
-

India don't fear Sangakkara, whilst SL are sh!t scared of Sehwag and Sachin.
England to win...??? I'll go for Kenya :D

Yep, England are the real winners; Indians and Pakistanis migrate here ;)
And Jeet, I've always liked Afridi's all out attack 'policy'...

Jeet you been on the source you must know somebody in the know to say words like that.
So you saying Sri Lanka have no chance at all.
-

60-40% India. Murali has one leg. Mendis has be pummeled by India since his magic 6 months vs India in 2008. SL play Mathews as the 2nd seamer and he has a thigh strain, so they need to rejig their side.
Sanga is a Dravid style batsman so India can make plans for him. The dangerman is Dilshan.
-
How many times have Ind played SL in the last 18 months????
-
and there have brown undies against the 2 S'S
-

Millions lol. Must be 20-30 ODIs plus 2-3 Test series as well
-
and there have brown undies against the 2 S'S
Pretty much so, I want them to play Dilhara Fernando. He's quick, tad wild but he can win SL the game by himself
-
Will be a good game
I think Sri lanka's middle order will let them down and india will prove too strong.
-
i think Ayrtek man will provide a great shot for the catalogue in a stunning victory.
-
what time are highlights on guys??
-

right now on sky sports
-
damm only half hour left...
-
Just seen the Harb ball that got Akmal - stunner
-
Not sure what time they are on BBC yesterdays was @ 1120

red button at 10pm

For me it didnt live up to the expectation. I do think though the toss was a massive factor in this game. the pitch changed from being a belter to a slow one. i have to say though i was really impressed with MSD's captaincy. he is so street wise.
-
Fairy tale for the little master to score his hundredth international hundred on his home turf.
-
To be honest to everyone I think Pakistan making to Semi Finals was unexpected.
If you see what has happened and what Pakistan team was going through for past 1-2 years then I think making to Semi Finals was beyond expectation and they did far superb than what was initially expected from them. Just before the World Cup many people including game analyst said they won't even make to second round but I believe credit must go to Shahid Afridi especially how he kept the team united and lead the team.
So as a Pakistani I would say great performance by Pakistan in this World Cup.
India did better than the given day so they deserved the victory, winning and losing is part of the game. One has to win while one has to lose!
-
it has been a good performance by Pakistan to reach the semis and as Afridi mentioned 6 wins in 8 matches is very good. But as always their batting has let them down. Hafeez must be one of the most frustrating people for the fans as well as for the captain. looks good always and then throws it away.
They need to rebuild keeping 2015 WC in mind for ODIs. Personally it is time to get rid of K Akmal, Younis Khan and Razzaq. Shafiq looks the part and Umar Akmal must be promoted up the order. Misbah also might not be around for the next WC but he has been consistent ever since his return.
-
Agreed. I would say that the way Pakistan cricket was going before the world cup they weren't capable of Semi Final spot but they proved everyone wrong.
I think Hafeez wanted to finish off the things as soon he could which lead to his downfall.
I would in particular blame Misbah and Younis because they were suppose to rotate the strike and just like Tendulkar (on most occasions) they failed to do it and pressure mounted on other side.
I think time has come for young faces, the wicket was not good for fast bowlers but Wahab Raiz proved everyone wrong, he bowled impressively considering the fact he was poor throughout the tournament. So Pakistan future does look bright if they bring up new faces.
Shafiq, Umar Akmal and Wahab clearly have shown there worth in ODI side. Wahab just need more coaching and training with coaches and he will became a great fast bowler in future if he lives up with his hardwork.
Junaid Khan is another good fast bowler, I saw him live in summer when I went to NCA and this boy looked impressive, pace, swing etc everything was there.
So yes, Kamran, Younis, Misbah and Razzaq will be dropped and should be dropped. Hammad Azam is a name that comes to my mind right away when I think of replacement allrounder and he is perfect man to replace Razzaq.
-
might be worth getting Babar Azam in to the side early on, i know they dont have a problem with sticking youngsters in.
-
Babar Azam and Usman Salahuddin
These two players are future star, both are impressive at domestic scene.
But I feel both are a bit too young, they need more time in domestic arena.
For those who don't know Babar Azam is cousin of Akmals..
-
must be 17 by now? aamer was a fixer in the side at that age (sorry, meant to say 'fixture' oops!)
-
Nope, he is 16, have a look;
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/348144.html
-
ok, my point is... pk like to get them in young, might not be long before they blood him
-
I think Pakistan lost primarliy because of Misbah. He didn't rotate the strike and he is capable of hitting big shots. Why he didn't hit those shots. What is the use of hitting later in the stage when game was almost lost.
-
Agreed. Very poor batting from him. I still can't figure out why the power play wasnt taken when razaq or afridi were batting. They deserved to lose because of the way they batted bowled and fielded
-
Might sound strange but did Misbah go slow as his nose was put out of place when Afridi was made captain for the WC?
I mean Afridi was an inspired choice, he galvanized the Pak side. Maybe Misbah was jealous of Afridi's success
-

Indian Book makers anybody
-
you're starting to sound like a sky commentator Dave ;)
ordered from morrants today after what you said, nice people to deal with
-
It was really bizarre watching a man of younus khans class batting the way he did, hes a very good player, I was in dis-believe when he patter ball after ball for nothing.
-
Final is finally upon us!
India have a selection dilemma as Nehra has broken a digit on his right hand and has been ruled out. Who will replace him, the wildcard Sreesanth or the man of mystery R Ashwin. I hope its Ashwin as he's an unknown to SL and he would be suited to Mumbai's conditions.
Sri Lanka have their own problems with Mathews being ruled out with a thigh strain. It seems likely that Perrera will replace him. A bowling all rounder replacing a batting all rounder. Another dilemma is which spinner will partner Murali? Mendis and Herath have been tonked in India before, so the late inclusion Randiv may get the nod.
One man I'm looking forward to bat is Sehwag. Last time these sides meet in Mumbai, albeit the other ground, he dismantled SL. Could lighting strike twice?
-
want to see a game befitting of a final.
-
One man I'm looking forward to bat is Sehwag
Obvious to see Jeet is impartial.
Hundredth hundred for Sachin tomorrow.
Hope it's a close match with a nail-biting finish.
-
Sri Lanka to win after bowling India out for 180
-
Obvious to see Jeet is impartial.
Hundredth hundred for Sachin tomorrow.
Hope it's a close match with a nail-biting finish.
Sehwag's my favorite player!!!
I hope Sachin get's a nice 80 odd and India win. Both times he scored 100 in this WC India didn't win!
-
My take;
Sachin to score his hundredth hundred, will get man of the match, man of the tournament, India wins and he will retire.
-
he better not i have tickets to watch him
