Well I'm sure most of your clubs practices would have started by now, or starting in the coming weeks.
The idea of this topic is so that you can post a mini summary of your training session and how you feel it went, as we get into the season you could use this topic to post your match summaries/scores etc.
Please try to refrain from off-topic chatter in this topic as I feel it could become quite a large topic, so uneeded posts will affect the clarity of the subject.
Cheers Richie.

Last Thursday had my first indoor nets, the venue was not ideal! The nets had holes in them and the mats were dog eared and slipped everywhere. The lighting was poor and it was dim to say the least, I decided to bat near the end (the fast bowlers would be tired :) ).
Well the first ball came... Bang smashed in the ribs haha, well the net wasnt a total disaster but it wasnt great! I did manage to smash the first team captain back over his head for a certain 4 :D.
Bowling wise as usual I had an injury, no idea what it was but my knee was messed! Still managed to bowl at a decent pace but ended up bowling spin at the end!
Also there was an argument between two lads (one who picked up my redback!!) so it was a good evening overall.
-
Had my first net session with my club last monday and it was absolutley dreadful. The people who turned up i wish i had never even bothered going because they were possibly the worst! But i batted well maybe because the bowlers werent top class thats is! But was very poor in my opinion though. Maybe i am being harsh because i compared it to my county training sessions and they are top quality i must say :P. I did thinkk of moving club this year but i am going to give the club i am at now another season and see how it goes and then move. So overall i must say that it wasnt really that good :-\.
-
do your county not try place you at a better level club, i know in the yorkshire setup that they dont like there juniors playing a poor standard
-
We started our indoor nets on Jan 28th. This year we are having evening nets (not to my liking though) at Maccelsfield High School. (I like the time and venue of the last year's nets on Saturday mornings at Astra Zeneca Club).
As expected a very thin turnout but the facility is very good. The nets, turfs etc. are in to condition and ready in a flash for use.
We start-off with a 10 min stretching and warm-up session. This is followed by the opening batsmen taking the first guard. Oh, We have 2 nets so as to get maximum time for the batsmen. The opeing bowlers are given new balls and other semi-new/old balls. each net has 3-4 bowlers.
The batting and bowling performance is keenly monitored and feedback is given once the batsman finish the nets and when bowlers have their break.
In the coming week 2 ECB level 1 or 3 (I do not know which is higher ranked, but the higher ranked coach will come) coach will come and we will face the bowling machine. The ECB certified coach will then makes notes on the batting and monitor improvements/progress over a 5 week period. This is going be an exciting and learning experience.
Last week we took a break from cricket and played 6-a side football. Two 10 minute sessions and then fielding and catching practice.
In a couple of weeks we will play 6-a side cricket match

Its not that its a poor standard of cricket mate its just that it was the first net session and there wasnt many of the good players who play for the club there but im sure i will get the chance to net withn our first team soon.
-
Had indoor training since october but i'm the only one from my side that actually turns up. The guys who have just moved up to my age group have been in my net and some of them are pretty sharpish but the others struggle to bowl above 20mph, or that's what it seems like. So in a 10 min net you will probably only get about 5 min of actual decent bowling but on the plus side it's good for your concentration.
-
Have been netting for a couple of weeks with my Sunday side, which is a Jewish team basedin North London. Standard is varied, so spend a fair bit of my time coaching the other guys, more than concentrating on my own game. Ball has been coming out prety well when bowling - have probably put on a yard of pace over the winter (God only knows where tis come from though, as I'm heading rapidly towards 30). Batting wise, at this stage of the season I am just looking to reacquaint myself with the feeling of willow on leather. I take my net batting fairly seriously (am an opening bat) so I like to approach each session like an innings. Haven't thrown my wicket away yet, so relatively happy. And my new Redback is going like a rocket!
-
I thinkk the way you take your net sessions is the way net sessions should be taken by everyone as most people who i know just go in the nets and have abit smash about and couldnt care a less about wether they get out or not. I have started to take my nets abit more serious now that i am getting older i really should be thinking hard about improving my game. My county coach has already said that he can see a big improvement in my batting and have got quicker bowling wise so i am pretty happy with the way i am doing in the nets.
-
I am personally not a big fan of facing bowling machines, i find the ball very hard to pick up and you also get some clown using one who changes the ball settings every ball and that isnt the idea. the idea is to face consistent bowling to groove your shots!
-
I agree with you there mate i hate batting against bowling machines becuase i dont know why but i just cant seem to see the ball coming out properly and the balls arent too good for seeing in the first place.
-
I hate the machine as people always turn it up super fast, one minute its 60mph then the next minute one comes out at 80 back of a length! I also find people tilt the machine to really bang it in haha
-
Just got in from another net, batted as well as i have in a while, everything just seemed to come out the middle and everything seemed to come back to me (backlift, driving etc) which is what i hoped, because i try and bat just the same in the nets as in a match.
Couldnt really bowl tonight because ive knacked my knee so just had to hobble in and bowl :D, still got a good bit of bowling under my belt and just focused on my line and length.
-
went for a net yesterday, lost all confidence, front foot, cuts and late cuts were fine, but hooking, sweeping and especially pulling was awful just kept getting hit, any ideas?
-
iv got a net session with andy caddick on friday at our club, will give you news on how it went :)
-

the shots you are struggling on need perfect timing nearly all the time, if its your first net then your timing is bound to be slightly out, try again next week and i think you should notice an improvement
-
Had my first net for about 4 weeks yesterday and everything felt fine, made a conscious effort to try and play straighter and not to drag as many balls onto the leg side and i didn't drag one all night so was pleased with the session.
-
Everyone still going well? Looking forward to getting a bit of practice in tomorrow.
-
Getting a bit bored of indoor practice now. Our outdoor still doesn't start for nearly another month.
-
with the recent good weather been having a few outdoor nets, on possibly the most unbouncy articfical wicket youll ever see, im banging them in half way down from a great height, (im 6ft 6) and theyre knee capping!!
-
After a lull the excitement has picked-up again with bowling machine making its way into the indoor nets. It is fast, frustrating (don't like the balls that are used. The bat looks like it has had chicken pox) but a still fun (when you look at others missing the ball by a mile)
-
Back went playing a pull shot last week, and have been flat on my back ever since. First game is 13th April, so fingers crossed I'm fit by then.
-
Got my first net on Sunday morning after myy wrist injury so will let you all know how it goes.
Now I'm fit again I'm renewing my interest in purchasing a pair of WK gloves.. so any sellers drop me a PM.
-
i've had quite a few sessions so far but i end up teeing off after only a few balls! im hitting the ball in the air too much and worrying about the first game, i think i just need to get my act together...
-
very true mate, the nets we use are fairly quick because of a wooden floor under a thin mat, but as soon as we get outside i'll be taking guard on a sponge cake!
-
bowling well this year developed a new slower ball that always seems to get leo out lol he just ses i think its going to be faster lol a it knocks over the middle stump looking forward to outdoor nets tho
-
Have slipped a disc so am out for a minimum of 6 weeks, which utterly sucks.
-
A good first match for me today. 35 Over game, I got one catch and a stumping keeping, only about 6 byes and also managed to get 9 (not out) runs with the bat which is good for me haha!
-
We bowled are opponents out for 94, bowled 6 overs, 2 maidens, 1 wicket, 7 runs. Didn't bat as we only lost the one wicket but have a Sunday team game tomorrow so hopefully a chance to have a bat.
-
dammit, you guys are making me envious....would give anything to be out there playing cricket at the moment, i've already missed three matches and im going to miss another on wednesday! glad to hear everyone, apart from mdl 1979 (hang in there mate!), has got off to a good start!

Thought you were a bowler leo? by the way tell me when you want me to test that thing :)
-
Debut today for my new club - was asked to open the batting so have obviously impressed at nets - had a net before the game and felt good too! .........4 ball duck :(
Oh well, I see Jesse Ryder, another tubby left hander also got a duck on debut today!
-

I am but unfortunatly we had no keeper and as im a part time gloveman I took one for the team so to speak haha
-
22 and a catch with my dodgy keeping not the worst start!
-

I'm hanging on - treatment has been going well. Physio seems to be doing wonders. I'm off to Wembley today to cheer on Everton, but am hoping to make a first appearance of the season next week, though only as a batsman. Might be a few more weeks before I can bowl again!
-
Got first game next saturday cant wait!!!
-
Played today... won the game! I was batting at 7 and made 5 runs, played all round a straight one. Opened the bowling had a poor first spell and was taken off, came on at the death and bowled 8 overs for 31 runs, picking up one wicket. It was nice to win us the game with my first match of bowling this year!
-
Played again today, bowled 8 overs for 24, no wickets :( and batted at 6 and scored 12 before cutting straight to point, but we drew in the end :).
-
Had a great 1st match yesterday. I scored 90. It was a shame I didn't get a century, but anyway, still a long season ahead.
-
Got my first game on sunday for my A side which suprised me because I thought i'd be playing for the B's but hopefully i'll do well.
-
Got my first match of the season tomorrow and have just seen the wicket cut.... I am very very worried lots of grass on it and the least road-like looking wicket I've ever seen!! not fancing opening the batting now.... going to put in a request to bat lower middle order lol
-

i saw the wicket we're playing on tommorrow and for some reason it looks like the hardest track i've ever seen at our club! i'm very much looking forward to batting tomorrow, however i have no clue where i am batting as i'm playing for the first team :D
-
all the wickets around here (bearing in mind 'up north) are hard, ours is abit too dry its starting to break up! our indian overseas spinner is loving it!

-
First Out door game today, went really well, 30 odd didnt hav a bowl had abit of a banter with the other team all ready for my big games on the coming sundays
-
Winter season umpiring starts next Saturday which will finish a three week lay off from umpiring.
Getting a little work done on my knee in the 'off' season which will have me missing a weekend or two then heavily into some net sessions being coached by John Bell (what a great coach) facing some rapid bowling around the 140 k mark. Helps with the seeing when umpiring and getting some more match fitness for the big interstate matches in November.
-
good luck Ian
cheers dynamitebats. not good though, second ball duck after the ball kept low!!
-
playing Winter. First training today, We start playing next weekend. I think my team covers quite an area. Around a 90 kilometre stretch on the coast. Also our team is playing up a year but most players are 2 years under. Should be a good season. Plus im playing rugby before each match so will be well and truly stuffed after each day.
-
First win of the season - bowled first and the oppostion hit 169-9
I opend the batting again - shared a 138 partnership, before my partner went for 62. We lost one more wicket but I carried my bat for 86
-
Lost today, wasw an absolute farce. Game was reduced to 32 overs each.
Pissed it down all day, only 2 games in the County's premier and first divison wern't cancelled. The division 2 game on the pitch next to the one I was playing on (same team the 2 pitches sperated by a row of trees/hedge) was cancelled. We lost the toss were put in and bowled out for 90. I made a duck... I faced the same ball 4 times in terms of line and length, 2 skidded, one cut away and left me, the 4th popped and hit the shoulder of the bat and was taken by slip. During the tea break it hammered it down but 5 minuets of clear skies was enough for their captain to get on the pitch. Our opening bowler slipped and screwed his knee mid delivery so he couldn't bowl. Puddles started to form in the middle of the pitch and all around the outfield. I bowled 2 overs for 6 and then the captain told me quote "bowl full tosses and let them hit you for four, get this over with" unquote. First ball drilled at mid off, who moved out of the way to let it go for 4 Absolute farce, we couldn't abandon the game without the opposition captain agreeing. They were an absolute bunch of bellends.
-
Absolutelty battered the other side today. We scored 158-3 off of 20 overs with one of our opening batsmen getting 50 retired. Then restricted them to 60 odd for about 5 wickets. I scored 13 off of about 14 balls at the end. The pitch was pretty good but the ground was really slow had two shots that stopped about 1 metre short of the boundary.
-
First game yesterday batted 4 got a 3rd ball duck haha. Then opened the bowling bowled well my figures were 10 over, 3 maidens,25 runs and 3 wickets.
-
me and chrissy, yet to get off the mark this year! who else wants to join the duck club?! :D
-
anyone want to join the injured club!! >:(
-
me and chrissy, yet to get off the mark this year! who else wants to join the duck club?! :D
yes i'll join please!
-
Me too, two ducks in five innings.
-
haha, there should be a competition, most ducks by a forum member this years should get a prize! my mate won the duck cup for our club last year, he got a t-shirt saying, 'i've had a ducking bad season' on the back :D
-
I played yesterday, took a leg side stumping off our opening bowler in the fourth over, pitch was really placid and slow, our spinner enjoyed it getting 2 wickets. I then made 22 and we were bowled out for just over 100.
Good day :D
-
13 not out to win the game, and some Ok keeping... wasnt a bad day overall!
-
Game called off tonight pissing down!! U18 game tomorow night though ! :P
-
Played 3 games, opened the batting in all of them, scored 44, 133, and 4.... Although I was given out LBW for 4, despite the blatent nick onto the pads! I don't get why they let 60 year olds umpire
-
Art will have you for that!
-
Heck no. Of course he hit it and he hit it before he hit the pad, lol. Solution to the situation, how about some of you young folks take up umpiring. Situation solved (except ofr the rest of the problems that will be generated.)
-
90 and bowled by Ben Thompson ex. Glou county player
-
Scored 42 , helping the team from 2 for 2, to 102 for 2 then played a very tired lazy shot to get out. Didn't see the ball in the field all afternoon.
-
We bowled first today, I bowled 7-0-35-0 in a total of 214-8 off 40. Had 3 dropped catches and then 3 turned down lbw appeals, 2 of which i'd say were plumb. (then again I would ). Awesome day in the field though, was at wide mid on, when one of their openers on 95 smashes one straight down the ground ran across and forward had to dive and got both hands under it was very happy especially as it broke a partnership of over 120; the best was yet to come though, when at backward point, dove to my right to stop the ball as it bounced up, then AB De Villiers style lieing on my front threw the ball at 1 stump running out the seond batsman in that 120 run partnership by 2 yards.
Batting I made 10 today, and felt in good nick, was promoted to 3 and came in 20-1 off 10, put on a partnership of 30 something, just got out to a ball that kept low was gutted really.
-
11 yesterday, and then out caught behind. I was dropped first ball, so they were 11 bonus runs anyway! Team won, against won of the leagues stronger sides - we posted 186 on a really rubbish track, so it was an awesome total. The oppostion got 130 odd for 9 in reply
-
Last week on first innings back from injury I made a very stiff 2 on Saturday, then 33 off 34 balls on Sunday before nicking a good one. This week only played on Sunday die to a stag do on Saturday - 60 off 70 balls out of 226-7, then 2-10 with the ball. Feel like I'm easing back into it. Should have made a ton yesterday though ;)
-
playedfor school today got 76* with a load of 6's and 4's:D:D and my first 50:)
-
1 off 2 and 0 for 0 off 0.1 overs, not too shabby run rate
-
Had training tonight and felt as if my batting and keeping was in good nick. Got a match on Sunday so hopefully can have a good performance.
-
I bowled 19 overs, 4-97 on a road of a pitch. Also had 3 dropped catches of my bowling and a missed stumping so not a bad day :).
-
had a great start to my season today
was fileding at short leg. took a sharp catch.
bowled 7.1 overs 4 wickets for 11 runs
-
4 yesterday played around a straight one - my head keeps falling to off and I end up trying to hit too much to leg - I only seem to have started doing it this year. I think I'm picking the bat up towards gully as well - going to work hard on it this week. I feel I'm currently the weak link in our top 6 - partly because I'm feeling out of touch, but also because the other 5 guys are awesome. We won anyway, and have moved up to 3rd in the table as 3 other results went our way (one team above us lost, and 2 other teams were abandoned)
-
looks like theres not a chance in hell of getting even an over in today >:( doubt tomorrow will be on either
-
Got 41 not out yesterday for our U15's shared a decent partnership with our number 3 to win the game for us.
-
never ever scored a fifty and moved to my new club and all of a sunday 43 followed up by 44 caught on the boundary ! so next weekend im looking 45 and 46 :D
-
First league match of the season - I go in with J Allen running rampant. Well I should have got forward but he was a malinga style slinger and was literally releasing it from level with his shoulder (9 oclock on clock face) and so you couldnt see it until the last second.
Didn't see it until it shattered my stumps giving me my first ever golden duck.
Nick Zala Lbw J Allen 40
Tom Ash Bowled J Allen 0
Zabi Maqsoodi Caught J Wilson 12
Tom Buggey Caught J Allen 1
Imtiaz Zazay Stumped M Dixon 8
Leo Fernandes Bowled J Allen 0
Richard Tinsley Bowled J Allen 1
Izzat Ullah Khan Bowled J Allen 4
Ben Lines Bowled J Allen 0
Darrell Clamp Caught J Allen 2
Oliver Zala Not Out 0
Bowler must have been pleased...
Player name Overs Maidens Runs Wickets Average Economy
J Allen 13.0 4 25 8 3.13 1.92

not a good season so far for me, got 2 ducks in my first 2 games. got 10 yesterday then got a bit of a jaffa which bowled me through the gate! hit a big six down the ground second ball though! playing at a somerset 2nd xi ground next week which is a very good track, got a few runs up there last year, absolute road. got a couple of friendlies this week too, will keep u posted!
-
Scored 22 off of not many balls and took their best bowler for 10 off his over. We won and it felt allot better being captain of a winning side than a losing one.
-
Got 22 today caught at point but we still won the game with ease and bowled 4 overs and only went for 5.
-
played 1st game on saturday they got 134... i had 3 overs took 1-6 and took 2 catches, 1 in which the batsman said in his 40 years of playing was best catch he had ever seen (was fielding at slip).... getting 53 in a 90 partnership with the father we were all out for 130.... shameful

Weekend 2nd/3rd May
Saturday: 2 runs, 2-18 of 8 overs.
Sunday: Golden Duck, 2-37 off 8 overs.
Weekend 9th/10th May
Saturday: 35 runs, didn't bowl due to an injury, but I kept and had 1 catch and didn't let through any byes.
Sunday: 22 runs, forced to bowl 2 balls, 0-4 off 0.2 overs
-
Got a pair to start the season.
1st game of the season - lbw first ball. Unbelievable, was batting at least half a crease outside the crease and the ball hit me right in the middle of the knee roll.(I can bet my entire season that I was not. But cannot complain as the umpire was a team mate who has never umpired before.)
2nd game - lbw 4th ball for a duck. Tried to play one of the back foot and missed it. Thought Iw as a Pro and can play of the pads on backfoot so early in the innings. I deserved it.
3rd game: 42 of 22 balls. Very pleased.
4th game: 87 of 60-70 balls (lost the count. But walked in the 25th over - 45 over game. Saw off 3 mates before one stuck around to get 38 no).
hope the runs keep flowing.
-
got my first 100 of the season last nite, got it in a 20-20 against the arch rivals, very pleased obvisously
-
Got 34 tonight to basically win us the game with 7 runs needed to get when i strolled off.
-
10 runs opening and one stumping for my school tonight. Had a 30 partnership with the other opener, we saw off the best bowlers and then both got to the crap. After we both got out we folded for 55. We gave away 19 wides and no-balls combined which is 38 runs in our games and you can't give that many away in a 20-20.
-
Got 35 tonight i seem to be getting the 30's and 40's but not going on ! :( Will have to knuckle down abit harder.
-
Played quite a few school games recently. I bat 3 for the first team there. Been going quite well played 5 matches and I've averaged 54, top score was 92. Last game I got a duck though, was a good ball to get early on started out looking like it would be a wide outside off so I was leaving it then it drifted in before seaming in as well. Ended up getting an inside edge onto leg stump.
Playing club tomorrow first game of the season for my club and I'm in at 3 for the firsts, highest I batted last season was 6 so it's a step up. Looking forward to it!
-
Scored 27 and then got retired just before the game got abandoned due to rain.
-
Played today.
We bowled first as we were unsure of what the weather was going to do, and due to the way the over reductions work etc you have the advantage if your chasing.
We went off in the 28th over (2 balls into my 6th over) and lost 4 overs from each innings.
They made 162-7 having been 150-4 at the start of the 42nd over.
I bowled 6-2-19-2, 8 runs of which came off the 4 remaining balls of my interrupted over. I bowled well actually, good accuracy and turned it a mile. One of my wickets was to a left hander, around the wicket pitched on middle turned and bounced leading edge straight up, taken by the keeper. My second wicket was just one tossed up on middle stump smashed down long-ons throat. I didn't bowl after the interruption for rain.
Was down to bat at 7, we ended up winning by 6 wickets... Quite a professional run chase TBH kept a long with the required rate quite comfortably before accelerating and winning with quite a few overs to spare.
Good day out really
-
Got 79 yesterday, batted 3 and had quite an important role seeing as our experienced batsmen all got out! The overseas guy got 71 NO and tha cap'n (who's a god awful batsman) pitched in with 22.
We just got home bowling them out with 12 runs to spare. 20 points is a nice boost.
-
Posted on another forum from the bank holiday Monday
Wow....
Today was complete and utter domination from my Torpoint side.
We lost the toss and after a delayed start because of rain we were put into bat. The match was reduced to 42 overs a side, we started steadily ticking over at 5-6 runs an over thinking this is a good steady start, up came the 50 partnership, then the 100, then the 150, then the 200, then they both brought up their centuries and up goes the 250 partnership! 2 balls later 250/1 off of 37.4 overs One opener bowled for 103. Our number 3 comes out and smashes 2 fours to finish the over. First ball of the next over = 2. The next a wicket our other opener goes for 122. Then hell was unleased from 260/2 off 38.2 we finished on 320/2 off of 42. Our number 3 finishing with 40* off 11 (7x4 2x6).
We came out to bowl, 3rd ball of the innings, top edged C&B by our opener. They managed a bit of a partnership but never attempted to chase our total, dragged themselves to 40 odd of of 15 overs before their other opener was bowled. Another slow partnership before their number 4 batsman was run out from square leg. We stopped for drinks with them 72/3 off of 21. I was given a shout to get loose, unexpected TBH as it had been drizzling all day and the ball was very wet. First over was hit for 8 runs captain considered taking me off but our VC said to give me another go as 1 over wasn't enough and most of their runs had been fairly streaky(2 edges for 2 runs each). Turned out to be the right decision, next over floated one up outside off turned back a yard and pegged back their number 3's midde stump Out for 44. Continued pressure, quicker ball trapped one batsman plumb infront, next ball the "wrong-un" to the new batsman, off the edge, off our keepers glove and into the hands of slip. Hattrick ball, played miles inside the line, outside edge difficult catch dropped at gulley resulting in a scampered single. Next ball quicker one again plumb infront. 3 wickets in 4 balls. Picked up another one later on to complete the 5fer. Made a point of looping it up ad turning it onto the right handers pads did this for 4 balls consecutively before bowling the arm ball, offstump pegged back. In amongst all this I had 2 edges dropped by 2 different keepers. But I won't complain I got my 5fer.
8 overs,
4 maidens,
12 runs
5 wickets.
Ignoring the first over it = 7-4-4-5
-
Today =
7/36 off 11.
Was on a hattrick again, but didn't realise it as it was one of those last ball of one over + first ball of another over jobs. So Monday + Sunday = 12/48, pretty gun IMO.
-
Rubbish day today - gave up my cup final ticket to play cricket. Promptly made a duck, didn't bowl, and we lost to Chelsea. At least we won the cricket match.

u Sound just like sum1 at my club
What do you mean mate?
-
Yesterday, local derby - got a duck, bowled by one that pitched about halfway and didn't get above my ankles, meh lol. Fielded very well though - plenty of diving stops, caught someone who had just switched from our club to theirs first ball at short cover with a diving catch. Good day in the end, gutted about the batting though.
-
got 7 with the bat yesterday, and 2 wickets.
got a game today so went down on the bowling machine this morning and got dad to record it! (ignore is speaking! lol)
this wasn't the best i had batted as this was my 4th rack and i was losing my concentration with all the heat.
this was at 70mph with a little bit of in swing

Im gettin wrist ache lol
u need to take leg stump guard as you walk right across ur stumps like i do, and u also walk into ur shot which means ur not balanced i had the same problem but got told to stand up straight exagerated like owais shah or ab de villiers other than that u look really good-the sped also looks to quick for you to perfect ur technique
-
marcusjd. Is that torpoint in cornwall? If so what division do you play mate
-
4-40 off 18 overs broken by lunch..... feel gd about it except the fact that i struggled to get a 5 fer
-
played today on a very dry wicket, bowled for the first time this year and was turning it square! lol, took 4-14 from my 13 overs! seemed to find my line and length from ball one, very pleased with myself! bowled the odd googly n all!
-
Scored 1 last week and 26 retired today. This is by far my best season.
-
didn't bat today but took 3-29 of 5 overs
-
i got 55 in a county game v.pleased
-
dead spit of michael clarke there mate
-
We only needed 80 to win and I opened the innings and carried my bat for 29* to win the game for us. We should have won a lot easier but they were a good bowling side and a few people got scared of their fast bowlers and backed away and got bowled.
Scored 128 runs this season at an average of 32 and I just hope I can keep it up for the rest of the season.
-
made 41 on saturday, before receiving the worst umpiring decision I've EVER received - midled the ball into my pads and got given LBW. The opposition were very apologetic after the game. Up to that point it had been a chanceless innnings and I was looking well placed to see us through to the total we were chasing. Instead we collapsed and fell 50 runs short

7 wickets?
-
finnaly found some form through netting this week with the pro starting to play realy straight and working the ball off my legs looks like it could turn out to be a good season for the bat and ive already broke my m8s helmet could be expensive
-
7 wickets?
Yeah :D
-
well bowled mate
-
Scored 12 last night and 70 tonight for school. It's my first ever 50 and I couldn't believe it I just seemed to find the gaps and middle the ball so well.
-
hit my first 50 of the season the other night, about time too! hooked 3 sixes and hit another 6 straight down the ground so feeling pretty good. Shame i got caught on the boundary only 4 runs later!
-
Another duck yesterday - 4th ball. Skipper won the toss and decided to bat first. I open, and first ball completely squared me up. 4th ball was a bit fuller and pitch around middle and leg, seamed away and bounced and edged to gully.
And we lost again - 4 games on the bounce now, and we're supposed to be one of the strongest teams in the league
-
Game got called off at 8 this morning due to heavy rain and it's dry now.
-
67 opening the batting for me Yesterday.
0.4 overs for 2 runs before the batsman smashed one back at me and bruised my hand. Everyone suspected it was broken but it's just some damage and bruising so should be ok for the weekend.
Only made 4 batting at 9 on Saturday and took 1/31 off 9 overs. Had one stumping not given that was probably closer to being a run out and an absolute dolly of a catch put down.
-
got 20-30 then got stumped off the keepers knee, but we won the game so im pleased, and it was are big rival (essex) so im happy ;)
-
Got 20 off of about 12 balls opening. Also got 3 wickets for 7 runs off of 2 overs bowling at the end of the innings after letting somebody else keep.
-
Playing a 20/20 didn't bowl - the oppo got 119 - 9 (20 Overs)
Then in our innings we were 12-4 when I came in after 3 overs... I batted ok and managed to get 21 until I did a horrible slog and got bowled! Needless to say we lost and only managed to get 58 all out (17.3 Overs).
-
hit my maiden 50 today, hit 53, loads of 4 and a six into a nearby graveyard!
-
I didn't get selected this weekend as I was away, but my club's game got rained off so I didn't miss much :)
-
3 matchs in the day, i have mounted a HUGE 7 runs
-
6-15 yesterday
-
68*, 2 wickets, a high catch and a run out yesterday for school :D
-
22 opening, then got retired in a district trial match. Took an easy catch behind the stumps as well.
-
How did everyone get on this week?
I played my first game of the season, Saturday just gone. We lost to 3rd in the league, but I really enjoyed the game.
We fielded first and I took a catch in the slips early on. Then I got a 2 over spell and bowled nice and tight, only giving 2 runs away. After a brief rain delay, I bowled another 3 overs. Not as good as my first 2, as they went for 18 I think.
Didn't do too well with the bat either, as I was deemed to have been caught behind for a duck (I don't think it hit any pat, just flicked off the edge of my pads).
So not a very productive day, but I still loved it none-the-less :)
-
Played my first mens game on saturday and hit 22* which included a hook for 4 to score the winning runs and on Sunday had an interclub game in which i scored 40 including my first 6.
-
Got a score, and got my picture in the paper with a decent write up...

-
My bowling average is 19.00 my batting average is 19.50... surely makes me an all rounder now!
78 runs off 6 innings
-
That's an allrounder mate!
-
Scored 13 in the slog at the end of the innings trying to get us up to a score so we could declare.
-
Scored 64 opening the batting, then bowled 10-2-30-1 few dropped catches in the slip region, but that's cricket
-
Good work mate.
-
We in Australia have not started play in cricket yet.
-
Had a great first match of the season!!
Kept wickets for most of the innings as our regular keeper was injured. Took a neat inside edge catch off a spinner which was pleasing. Also effected a run out towards the end of their innings. However, they ended up scoring 243 in 35 overs and it was going to be a steep chase.
I was batting at number and had to go in in the first over as the umpire made an absolute horror of a decision and gave one of our openers (rhb) out lbw to their seamer (lfm) coming over the wicket. The ball had clearly pitched way outside leg stump. Anyway, I went in and played out the first over. When my partner took strike at the other end, he smashed the ball to all corners of the park. At the end of that over, I told him that he was going well so Id just feed him the strike. We shared a 145-run partnership for the second wicket at almost 10 an over. He got his 100 in the 14th over I think and got out shortly after the drinks break. I followed in the next over....got caught in the covers off an uppish drive. I had made only 14 off 28 deliveries and the RR was still over 9 an over.
We recovered from a middle order collapse to finally win by one wicket with one over to spare!!
-
Nice game scuudz :)
We played 2nd in the league, and were put in to bat. We made 102 before being bowled out. I batted at #10 and got just the 1 run, but my aim (from my captain) was just to try and fend off as many balls as I could, and don't worry about scoring. I think I faced about 18 balls.
We made a great start when fielding, getting 4 wickets in the first 6 overs! I thought we might have been able to pick up the win, but unfortunately we couldn't get another breakthrough, and we were beaten. I only bowled 1 over, didn't take any wickets, but had a catch dropped.
Nevermind, onwards to Saturday where we'll be playing top of the league! Oh joy!
-
Had a decent game on Sunday. Scored my 2nd ton of the season, 102 not out off 101 balls. Then had to open the bowling due to a lack of bowling resources and had figures of 10-1-18-5. We still didn't win either as the oppo showed no inclination to chase the target, and were 7 down at the end. Was blimmin sore yesterday as well!

That sounded like a great game.
-
I suppose - first time I've scored a ton and taken 5-fer in the same game. Annoying that we couldn't force the win though.
-
Yea, but at least you did well and tryed to win the game for your team.

Scuudz...that sounds like an epic start to the season! Hopefully some of that form will last throughout the season :) !
-
scored 17 on saturday before being given out lbw to a horrendous decision which the bowler even said he was lucky to get. the umpire was our opening batsmen and he shouldn't have been umpiring as he didn't have a clue, he didn't even know where to stand, he was standing next to the stumps where the bowler was going to bowl from. on sunday i scored 17 again before hitting a full toss straight to extra cover
-
Played in my second match of the season. It was a 20/20. They batted first and scored 142. I batted at #3 again and had to go in in the 6th over. Got a single off the second ball I faced. My partner got a few 4s off the edge over the slips. Then he came down the track to their opening bowler and absolutely spanked one along the ground just wide of mid off. Since I was backing up and he had come a long way down the track any way, it would have been an easy single. But he didnt call at all and I probably shouldnt have moved as it was his call but I took off cos we would have both easily made it. He was watching the fielder and by the time he called NO, it was too late. I turned around just in time to see one stump fall to the ground due to a direct hit from mid-off.
We got a couple of good partnerships going after my wicket fell, but just couldnt keep up with the asking rate. Our running between the wickets was awful and resulted in three run-outs. We eventually fell about 35 runs short.
My goal of avging 20+ this season is not off to a good start with scores of 14 and 1.
-
Scored 20 then retired in an inter-club tournament then took three stumpings. In the next game we only managed to bowl 5 overs before the rain came, I managed to get another stumping though.
-
played against wiltshire in quarter finals of the ECB 40 overs
tourny
we won easily i got 29 just slashing at the end got dropped twice but hit some nice shots
-
We won our league and are playing a team that was national champions last year... ohoh.
Last time we played them their opener hit 170 (this was a 20 over game)
-
Scored ten on saturday with a busted side before top edging a pull in which i lost complete feeling in my side. I shouldn't really have played today but I did and took 2 wickets for 7 runs. I was only bowling because I couldn't keep with my side and I shouldn't have bowled but the Coach asked me to at least try. I've taken 5 wickets this year in 4 overs. I then opened the innings and got to 13 before i had to retire hurt but I wentback in with us needing 16 off four overs and we won in two overs with me scoring 13 of hem to finish 26*, was nice to hit the winning runs for a change as well.
-
played pretty much the best knock of the season tonight, 2020 game, chasing 178. took 2 stumpings and a catch earlier on. then opened the batting, blocked the 1st 2 balls, then went on to hit 22 off that over, carried on the assault and was bowled in the 4th over for 55! off 15 balls. went on to lose the game, all out for 140!

cheers mate :D yup, been nice weather all week here, for once! best of luck tomorrow mate.
-
Finally got a decent score of 50*. May have been 'inspired' by some of the worst sledging i have ever seen.
-
followed up last nights knock in the league today, scored 75 with 10 fours and a six :D
-
bowled our opposition out for 37 and knocked them off by 4 o'clock, in the pub by 5 and watched somerset loose the bloody final (should have batted first langer!) - good win and maximum points but it almost felt like a wasted day, i love winning but when you destroy a side it feels a little like they've cheated you out of a good days cricket!
-
1 and 28* (including 6 4's) last week and 4 and 10 this week. Was run out ridiculously today it was an easy single and I got half the way down the pitch before he sent me back by turning his back on me.

Using that newbery i hope ;)

Scored 19 yesterday before being bowled by a ball that shot along the floor. Then 2 today which meant I finished my u15 season with 201 runs at an average of 25 and have taken 7 wickets in 7 overs.

Exactly my thoughts Aidy!
-
Exactly my thoughts Aidy!
so u ended up wearing them in the end, any banter from team mates and opposition! if there was the 50 wud have shut them up!
-
ha my teamates were like, "you have to have some talent to wear them kinda things you know"
the opposition where just laughing "what on earth are they"
-
having a bad run of form atm, 0, 1, 1. even had another duck in between that but that game got rained off. hopefully due some runs today!
-
Bowled 19 overs saturday, 3 wickets for 47 runs. Got 35 Not Out. Average end to an average season :(
-
Went past 1000 for the season today, with a fairly lame 36, though it was off just 21 balls. Had to go out all guns blazing as we were chasing 313. We didn't get close, by the way!
-
got 72* yesterday, finally getting some good scores towards the end of the season, on 927 runs for the season so far with 2 games to go, will i reach the magical 1000???
-
Lost to Charlie Ashfords team today... although on the bright side I managed to slog 22 not out...
-
I have had a shocker, not bowled at all and a season top score of 42 in saturday league cricket means this season is another one to forget.
To top it off my right big toe has become infected due to sweaty cricket shoes, I think I'll have some spiked trainers next year.
-
got 72* yesterday, finally getting some good scores towards the end of the season, on 927 runs for the season so far with 2 games to go, will i reach the magical 1000???
How do you get to 900 odd runs without having good scores earlier in the season - how much cricket do you play???????
-
I think there is a topic somewhere about 2009 targets.
Mine were 500 runs, no ducks and no dropped catches.
Ended the season with 404 runs, 4 ducks and I lost count of the dropped catches - at least 4 I can think of. So overall, a disappointing season - hopefully next year I will be better prepared. I know I have a better season in me than this one as despite a couple of 50's a never really strung a good run of performances together - just the odd good knock here and there
-
i have a decent year, v.pleased with my county performances, averaged 14 last year for middlesex, up around 40 this year,
had a ok year for adults, playin 3s-4s shud hav done better, and for my year had a bad run of form in the middle, but a decent year
and a very pleasing one
-
How do you get to 900 odd runs without having good scores earlier in the season - how much cricket do you play???????
had about 5 scores of 70 ish, then quite a few 20's and 30's, and a whole load of ducks! probably played about 35 games this year..
-
got to a 1000 runs today, hit my first ever ton! got 114 in an under 17 cup final!
-
You must be so proud
-
Was it a bat waving and helmet kissing extravaganza?
-
or was it a cool, sort of, didnt no u were near the 100 because you only play for the team?
-
I had a pretty good season...
I scored 288 runs with a high score of 59 not out and took 13 wickets, so I was pretty pleased.
Also got 8 catches and 2 stumpings keeping...
-
400+ runs, 3 50s and a best of 60* :)
40-45 wickets, 3 5s and 3 4s, with a best of 5-11 :)
-
And you beat my team ;)
-
scored my 3rd fifty of the seson yesterday got 54 nout out came in neeeding 80 at number 6 so pleased with it
-
or was it a cool, sort of, didnt no u were near the 100 because you only play for the team?
erm..... sort of lol but helmet was off!
-
ended the season with 94 not out!!! had the worst season of my life! two highest score 124 and 94 not out! but i guess its better than every game getting a duck!
-
Horrible season for me, top scores of 64 and 59*, best figures 4-25.
474 runs @23.5
41 wickets @ 19.5
-
u must have bowled well

Finished with 562 runs @ 20.2, Top scores of 70, 40 and 32

Overs 66.2, 1 maiden, 355 runs, 17 wickets, Avg 20.88, BB 3-12, Eco. 5.35 RPO

Decent saturday season all in all...
Games Inns NO Runs Top Score Average Catches Stumpings
14 13 2 314 84 28.55 7 5
Not bad in a season when you field for the first team for 5 games and get picked as a batsman for a failing second XI who have a keeper with cymbals for hands! ;)
Also got 450 odd runs on a sunday playing some recreational cricket for local village called Charlton Down averaging about 55? with plenty of dismissals :D
