Title: AdiPower Range
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on September 17, 2013, 09:54:10 AM
Just 2 days to go now until the Lords Trade Show where we will be revealing the new range...

So, will you be able to show any pics of your stand and stuff to the forum this year?

Will you be able to get any sneaky pics of anyone elses stuff?

Will they be letting a hoard of forum nerds in masquerading as 'brand owners' to annoy all the brands with endless questions and illicit photographs?

Brucey

Im sure ill get some pics up of our new range for the forum, im not sure ill have time to go around taking pics of other people kit as its not really the done thing when your viewed as one of the competition.

Im sure some of the retailers on the forum will have their own views and may be able to fulfil the forums needs though as they are the intended audience of the trade show after all. In turn the forum members are then their audience so its a win-win situation for all :)

Kooka have requested no photos are to be taken at the stockroom trade shows. They, along with GM don't attend Lords so aside from Kook I am sure I can sneak a few snaps on my phone during the course of the next couple of days (stockroom show at Windsor is tomorrow)

If admins have an email address they want me to send pictures to, enabling them to upload pictures throughout the day, I am more than happy to do that.

For those who have asked heres a few snaps of the newly finished PremierTek helmet....

The finish doesnt involve any spray finish as it now comes out of the mould in a coloured finish, the steel version is approx 120g lighter than the previous model and the Titanium version about 140g lighter.

yeah the PremierTek range doesnt feature the A.C.I.S liner and is the more "traditional" EPS liner with adjustable padding system. We have obviously looked to put our own unique touches in it and finish it off properly rather than just dropping in an EPS liner :)

Tom,

Are these helmets lighter due to no acis? Or have you used a different way of making them. (Shame there is no ayrtek labels on them but a small price to pay now your a millionaire  ;)
Title: Re: AdiPower Range
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on September 20, 2013, 02:35:16 PM
haha not counting any chickens yet mate as in theory we havent sold any yet, they are lighter as we have used a different combination of plastics as the EPS liner offers a more solid structure internally that the ACIS didnt.

This has bought the weights down across the PremierTek range by approx 90g in the Junior, 120g in the steel and 140g in the titanium.

Tom, are these new helmets coming out in various sizes? (All Ayrteks were one size only) if yes then what are the sizes and if its all one size then what is adjustment mechanism? Thanks.

The PremierTek in available in either junior size 52-57cm or adult size 58-64 cm, they are adjusted by using the foam padding that provided with them.

This can be thicker in some areas and thinner in others to fit you as best possible.

So the importanyt questions...

1. What will they retails for?
2. Are Adidas/Ayrtek to release a version with ACIS??

So the importanyt questions...

1. What will they retails for?
2. Are Adidas/Ayrtek to release a version with ACIS??

They are all featured on our website along with RRP'S but to save you all time they are as listed below:-

PremierTek Junior- £54.99
PremierTek-steel- £84.99
PremierTek-titanium- £124.99
RawTek- £249.99

The RawTek still features the acis liner but the PremierTek range all have an eps liner. The junior model is the same size shell but with a thicker eps liner to make the inner circumference smaller and also comes with a smaller size junior steel grille.

We we haven't ruled out introducing the acis back into the range but as using it carries a cost factor it would probably be used at the price point between the RawTek and PremierTek titanium models.

Given we had to fit a 2 year project into a 9 month period we wanted to focus on providing a range we thought ticked all the boxes in terms of quality, price and safety which is a very important factor with the new bsi standard due to be published shortly.

Couple of questions Tom:

1. Will any Adidas sponsored players be wearing the Helmet?
2. Is the eps liner less effective in protection than the acis liner and has any testing been done to compare the two?

Me too. I was looking forward to giving one a bash when my current lid makes it's way to the scrap heap but I can't justify the cost of the top of the range. Hopefully there will be some older models still hiding somewhere :)

Indeed - we have one left! http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-batting-helmets-c14/senior-cricket-helmets-c15/ayrtek-premier-blue-cricket-batting-helmet-steel-grill-p29 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-batting-helmets-c14/senior-cricket-helmets-c15/ayrtek-premier-blue-cricket-batting-helmet-steel-grill-p29)

But back to the topic of the thread, I was very impressed with these helmets at Lord's - well done, Tom!  :) Despite the lack of the ACIS liner, the weight of the older Premier helmets had been a bit of an issue for us, so seeing that go down considerably is brilliant news, and the prices aren't bad either, especially in the junior option.  I also think the visibility is better than the new Masuri lids, so all good - Ayrtek/Adidas helmets will certainly be on our shelves next year...  :)

Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on September 21, 2013, 08:31:09 PM
thanks paul, as explained in other threads the majority of people didnt even realise that the ACIS was in the helmets as we took the decision (not lightly) under adidas's guidance to only use it in the top end helmet.

we havent ruled out reintroducing it at a later date into the PremierTek range but with what we hope will be a significant uplift in volumes due to the new partnership we needed a product that was easier to mass manufacture and the new range ticked the boxes given the timelines we had.

great to have Stuart on board having meet up with him a few months ago to show him the product. Always nice to hear a pro ask "when do you want me to start using it" but at the time we were still tying down the paperwork so was a bit soon to have him using it until launch occurred on thursday.

we put the yellow pin stripes on as an option that he could remove but he particularly like the fact we could put little touches such as his initials onto the product.

hopefully Q1 has been answered today :) in regards to Q2 the ACIS is very effective in dissipating an impact when combined with the correct shell material to act as the primary point of shock absorption. We have used a different material in the new PremierTek range now we have the EPS liner so results are similar to the ACIS version. We have done research over the last 12-24 months looking at both so no compromise has been made when it comes to what levels are provided to the end user.

Aww, you haven't met any of them!

I reckon you'd have more chance of seeing Tendulkar dropped and the IPL folding than seeing him in anything other than what he wears on his melon now.  Similarly KP - as much as he should be contractually obligated to wear it, I have a strong feeling he won't.  Me? I'm sold on them!

When KP was with WoodWorm he wore their crappy helmet, then as Adidas didn't have a lid he went Masuri but I remember seeing him using Albion during a spell in SA.

I don't reckon he is too fussy with kit

The new Ayrtek lid will do some serious business if it is endorsed at the professional level.

Albion and Masuri have been resting on their laurels for too long with a lack of innovation.

do u mean in terms of custom colours mate or club crest/initials?

we wont be offering custom colours in 2013-14 but we are hoping to explore the miAdidas route where people can design their own colour schemes for 2014-15.

in talks with the retailers currently about the club crest/initials offers that will still be available this year.

Nice of him to follow us on Instagram too :)

Finishing the week with news that Ed Barnard scored a tasty 93 for England in the U19's World Cup

Lots going on currently behind the scenes as we line things up on the marketing front all of which will be rolled out over the forthcoming weeks!
