Some people would need to start their warm up on Monday evening to get 30 clean catches before the game started on Saturday, no chance of 30 in a row!

Cameron - I always turn up to the ground as early as I can to get the catches in haha

Simmy - Inbetween every ball I push my gloves on and adjust my pads, helps me switch of between each ball

I saw you warming up before our tour match we played. Admittedly it was only a few keepy uppies with a football, then you put the laces through it and walked over to start the match. :)

Yea we have fielding drills first which normally involves a throw into the keeper 20 mins or so.  Then I take a variety of catches from a bowler then the bowlers will warm up and I'll keep behind a single stump.

No real rituals except taping fingers up well, bit like Cadbury fingers now my digits lol.

Right glove before left without fail every time. My gloves don't feel right if I do it any other way. Just take some deliveries from our opening pair to get my hands warm, then some high balls to adjust my eyes to the light levels. Keeping helmet goes behind the river end sightscreen (don't ask!) and away to go!

Pre-game: tape up fingers and take part in fielding warm up routine after running a few short sprints to get my heart rate up.  Warm up routine involves rolling the ball out to fielders and taking throw ins over a stump then facing opening bowlers for 6 - 12 balls on practice track, finally facing spin on practice track for 6 - 12 balls.

During game: Set routine for facing each ball whether standing up or back: double touch of gloves then relaxed shoulders with hands touching ground in front of knees facing towards me; as bowler enters delivery stride this is my trigger to turn hands around and push head forward...watch ball and take with soft hands, relaxing on impact.  This is the theory at least!

In between deliveries:  banter with slips, encouragement for bowler, generally ignore batter and let gloves do the talking with the oppo.

I do have a routine that I do and I forgot about it. I usually stand up the whole game and I mark a horizontal line the from the stumps by putting my boots in front of each other and marking a line. That way I know I'm close enough but won't put my gloves in front.

Too be honest I don't actually think about keeping or taking the ball, I just catch it.

What I hate to see is keepers using their pads, it's just wrong.

I agree with that last comments...there should never be any need for a keeper to use his pads, good technique and flexibility should be enough to rule this out.

I'm obviously just a crap part time keeper then haha  :-[

As for routines turns out I do everything in order
Italics are outdoor games only:
Box 1st
Left pad
Check I definitely put box in
Right pad
Inners (left 1st)
Cap on head
Gum shield in pocket
Sunglasses on cap

Pick up gloves and lid
Gloves on (left 1st) before crossing the boundary
Lid passed to 1st slip to put down

For indoor games I stand up to everyone so only a lid needed.

for me its about getting into the relaxed zone and getting good rhythm with the catches taking them softly and cleanly and getting the footwork moving well, i am someone who needs to be in the zone or i lose my rhythm with footwork and catching, we are all different i guess.

Left Pad first, left gloves first.

Tap everything in the changing room to make sure i've got it (have gone out without my box before, and once when hungover, my pads. So do a "testicles spectacles wallet n watch check)

As many catches as I can before a game starts. take a large bottle of water down as well which goes by sight screen although I rarely drink from it.

I'm constantly cleaning my specs as I notice the smallest speck on there.

I also push my hands into the part of the glove by the heel of my hand. Probably need gloves a smidgin smaller, and having a minorlydeformed little finger on my right hand means I can't tend to feel when my pinky is at the end of my glove.

Ideally would do some work on katchet then take a few balls in the fielding drills then take some deliveries from the bowlers warming up on edge of square. Being captain though i rarely get the time to do a proper warm up meeting captains, umpires, teamsheets etc.

do any of you fellow keepers tend to find on the palms of your keeping gloves that one palm will have a lot more wear than the other ?

is this due to having a leading hand or something.

Yeah they are Dukes, bizarrely i found these at my club. Nobody ever claimed them inc oppo for that day so i had them. Only used them a few times in matches, tend to be the pair i loan to oppos or give to teammates during training. They are very nice, very soft.

Yeah always the right hand for me, as you say its because its my "leading hand". Any reverse handed takes will be with my right, any one handed takes above my head are with my right and most one handed diving takes will be away to my right so it makes sense there is a little more wear (not loads more mind) on my right glove

i play for two sides but my mode of transport is a motorbike and as i have far to much kit i literally just have kit everywhere its a nightmare, then if im starting to prefer one bat over another etc i have to try and find a way of getting it to the game for the other side i play for as well as its not easy taking kit everywhere on a bike

Nothing they come out of the pack more flexible then some who have had them years.

Plus there 2 versions Cain  in the wrist and non Cain protection .

I know I'm a big fan but the keeping gloves are my favourite product b3 and I use them all .

I showed them to a few people today they come out of the pack as supple as a pair you have had years.

No word of a lie somebody asked me today if they could have a settee made out of the leather as it so soft

They are called pro grade wicket keeper gloves, but basically I think it's the website cricket boxes own little brand etc, there good gloves at a reasonable price to be fair, very happy with them.

we had a B3 night at my club and the gloves are oustanding, but there's plenty of life left in my M&H's so i don't need to buy.

i don't have any rituals really, other than marking my off stump and a distance line (similar to Garrett) to stop me being called for no balls.

i never wear sunglasses to keep in.

our first team keeper absolutely ruins his gloves every season, he wears straight through the palms. i don't have the same problem though and the wear tends to be fairly even. if i catch anything "baseball style" it tends to be in the webbing. the only thing i find is that the right glove fits slightly looser because that's the one i take off to throw.

I would have to say my custom mades are my favourite. The Kippax ones are very supple, but there is not enough twist kb the thumb for my liking. As for the Gray Nicolls, bar the colours, there is not much difference on than standard , although the Mustard ones are slightly more rounded.
Looking to get some B3 ones next.

there performance is good for the price, a good all rounder, good palm and finger protection fairly soft but not as soft straight up as other gloves on the market but a few training sessions etc and your cooking on gas.

I tend to warm up a fair bit before a game. Usually a lap around the boundary unless it is very hot. Then a load of stretches for my old body. I usually get someone to hit balls at me for 5-10 mins with a foam bat gradually getting harder then wider of me.

Just before we go out to field I will do some quick side steps to get my feet moving. When the time comes to stand up I will do some quick side-to-sides behind the stumps with my gloves dragging across the ground to keep me nice and low. I've only been keeping for about 2 years so I imagine I'm more fussy than most.

They are beauties I was kindly given them by another keeper at my club as I have always loved them.

Here are a couple of pairs of keeping gloves I have for next year. First up are the GN Prestige gloves these are in standard mens size. Now personally I can not see how these are classed as club level and sub £50. These at exactly the same in my view as the Legend gloves I had a while ago super soft inside with great finger protection and a t-cut catching area

Second are another pair of warsop keeping gloves, these are one of my favourite sets and when at Warsop recently I asked if they still had some and there were 2 pairs left so I grabbed a pair. Super sort leather on these, not as padded as some other gloves on the market but that means there really supple and I just wear a thin set of inners under my keeping inners too make up for thinner palm protection. I have used this model for the last 2 seasons.

I also have some SS professional gloves I'll get round to taking some pics off.

cheers fella, the pads are made very well, the picture does them no justice, only thing mate is that they require some breaking in as the strength and quality of them almost makes them to firm, how ever after a few games they start to mold to you, they are made of more traditional materials so rather a bit more heavy than most pads but like i said it gives them a good quality feel and nice creme colour as appose to your normal bleach white.

i bought them 3 years ago almost so i dont know weather these particular ones are still available.

No they haven't done any pads that I'm aware of but the Legends are my favourite. Bought two pairs of gloves as this winter I was practising with worn out legend gloves while I waited for the release of the omegas. From the nets and fielding drills I've done they are very good, so flexible and the grip is great. The second pair of pads is just because I ripped the first ones so I just use them for practice.

Legends last year and this year are the same.

Prestige is a take down model, the palm is different, and the inner palm lining is made of lower quality materials. Overall still a very nice glove offering the same look and in my opinion comfort as the Legends.

Realistically i don't need all of these.

I'll be selling the Powerbow Players gloves shortly. They look completely new but i'm sure i wore them once. Maybe i didn't have much to do that day!

I'll make a topic soon enough but thought i'd post here, £35 delivered in the UK for a top of the line set of WK gloves if anyone wants to get in touch in the meantime. I only bought them because i was chasing a glove like the 2012 Legends as mine are on their last legs as you can see. The Powerbows are good, but not quite as good as the Legends.

I've done that, once you get into the habbit of selling to buy it's great though. The new kit doesn't hit your wallet as hard and you have a similar or the same amount as you started with, so you don't (theoretically) need to hide your new kit.
I'm not sure how many times I can "post this bat off for a refurb and new stickers" thought. My dad asked why a brand new bat needed a refurb and came back a totally different shape last time  :-[

I've got a pair of aero P1s underneath a pair of unlabelled puma gloves that Craig Kieswtter couldn't use anymore after he moved over to M&H...courtesy of Jamie Overton who plays for us when Somerset let him...I keep to some pretty rapid bowling anyway and then when Jamie plays it's definitely two pairs of inners with some extra neoprene sown on to give some extra protection at the base of my right little finger which always gets sore...

I have two pairs (the older red ones and the new ones) and both were supple out of the pack. Great protection for the level I play as well...the only critism is that it doesn't have any mesh panels but that doesn't bother me as I think it's more a novelty than anything else.

Any keepers out there point me in the direct of some high quality gloves? If any of you experienced guys have some for sale I would also be happy to go second hand. Thanks

What's the budget Liam?

If you're happy to go second hand, I guess you don't want to spend a fortune? If that's the case, here's a few recommendations:

http://www.prodirectcricket.com/lists/wicket-keeping-sale.aspx (http://www.prodirectcricket.com/lists/wicket-keeping-sale.aspx) - Mostly Puma, beware the sizes, nearly fell for the Evopower 1SE gloves myself, unfortunately only available in Oversized Mens now.

http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/wicket-keeping-c11/millichamp-hall-ck22-wicket-keeping-gloves-p931 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/wicket-keeping-c11/millichamp-hall-ck22-wicket-keeping-gloves-p931) - Great price, just don't mention M&H bats...

http://www.vitascricket.co.uk/products.php?id=723 (http://www.vitascricket.co.uk/products.php?id=723) - More traditional looking, although if you're willing to spend a little more, quite a few manufacturers are going Old School with their 2016 ranges, Newbury SPS are a favourite of mine.

Thanks for the links, my budget is £60/70 max, however if I could save some money then I would welcome that! I really don't mind spending the money if I am getting a good quality pair.

I tried on the GM Original LE and they were lovely, however wanted to get some opinions before buying anything.

In that case, you've pretty much got the entire market. You'll not find an awful lot for more than £70.

Can't say I've tried on the GM's, saw them in All Rounder a few weeks ago and they looked quality.

However, if you want to save some money, PM @JG , he was looking to shift some White 2015 Puma Evo 1SE's on the 20th, very nice gloves, could save a fortune. The Pro Direct link I sent before will lead you to the black version if you want to see what you'd be getting. If I caught the ball more often than I drop it, I'd snap his hand off myself!

Thanks very much for the help, will get in touch with JG this evening.

Those blackout Pumas almost make me wish I was still a wicketkeeper :)

Ideally would do some work on katchet then take a few balls in the fielding drills then take some deliveries from the bowlers warming up on edge of square. Being captain though i rarely get the time to do a proper warm up meeting captains, umpires, teamsheets etc.
My gear:

Not massively although they are great for training. Will use them on a Sunday friendly but not in league.

Are they big enough to cover the knees of a bloke 6'4 tall?

Wouldnt say so, im only 5'6 and theyre just about right for me. All depends on length of your legs though id guess.

Definitely not, I borrowed a set to keep in a couple of seasons ago and they were a really poor fit, I'm 6'3.

Fair enough, will have to look further for a suitable pair

Thanks for the links, my budget is £60/70 max, however if I could save some money then I would welcome that! I really don't mind spending the money if I am getting a good quality pair.

I tried on the GM Original LE and they were lovely, however wanted to get some opinions before buying anything.

I had a pair last year - very nice mate. Chances are Iwill be getting another set this year, a good all round glove, although the wife thinks I should get a pair of kookaburra 1250's.....because they are "prettier", cheers love.

Ive got no real routines other than the usual farting about with your gloves, I do try and insist on chewing chewing gum though. I have recently taken to singing quietly to myself as the bowler is running in and bowling, seems to help me concentrate, Five finger death punch is my current choice of songs :)
