Apologies if it is a duplicate topic. Any suggestions on two strap pads. Anyone found them comfier than three strap ones.
Have to be light I.e. around 500g per pad or less.
Recommendations welcome.
-
The Blank Bats ones were superbly light and well made, well worth a try.
However if your lower legs are magnificently well-muscled like mine, you may find this style a little tight.
-
Them or the Puma Calibre 4000 on PDC
-
BB are three stripes well on their site anyways.
PDS only have LH Pumas
any ideas how much they actually weigh

If you can get hold of the GM RSB Original pads I recently sold on here to a forum member, they are incredibly light and offer outstanding levels of protection

I did look in to them while I like the look they were a bit out of budget and GM have a tendency to be stiff but thanks for reminding I will see if I can get a used bargain.

I'm not sure on the actual weight specifics of these, but I owned a pair for a while and found them stupidly light.. too light in fact for me! That and how you can't exactly wear them a little bit low on the foot were the deal breakers for me. For some strange reason I think I prefer a bit of weight on the legs whilst batting, maybe feel a bit more protected? If you're after a light pad though with good protection I'd go for these IMO. Using the bowling machine on 75+ and was protected adequately.

I'm pretty new to this forum and I occasionally come across posts stating that one member has sold second hand gear to another... is there a second hand trading section on the forum?

Yes. It's a restricted area which is available after valuable contributions to the forum after you reach a certain amount of posts I believe! It used to be open to all but it's to make sure people do not use it as an alternative to ebay minus selling fees etc. Keep posting the 'valuable contributions' to the forum and one day you'll eventually find it pops up on the threads.

Ah, well that makes sense. I hope to find myself one of those golden tickets some day! ;)

Aero P1 leg protectors...very light .

Got a pair mate and they are awesome. Only use them for training these days as they look a bit odd with rest of the kit.
-
^ They are amazing for running between the wickets. I have white pads, I might get colored ones.
-
i had the puma calibre 4000 in a different colour scheme and love them. they only problem i had was that the top strap was twice as long as needed and the way i wore them have now destroyed the strap so i have had to replace them.
if it wasn't for the strap being too long i would of order a second pair. not sure if the pair on PDC are any different to them
-

yes from pdc. There a bargain for the price. The straps on these are not as long as the following years karbon models. The 2 straps are ideal for me and more comfy than 3 straps. As with all puma softs, best in the business IMO quality wise.

An older version of the ones I had so might be worth keeping an eye on

What about the SS / Ton pads as worn by Ravi Bopara? Seem to be well made and currently popular company.

asad at uzi sports has the ton pads i think

nice one ta mate

Puma is out of stock everywhere for that price. Some expensive ones on ebay.
-
Are the Ravi SS pads the same as his old GM ones? Has anyone had both? I'd like to know how they compare to each other.
-
What about the Morrant Superlight pads? they're two strap and if they're good enough for Tendulkar and Dhoni then that'd be good enough for me!
I'm sure there's a thread somewhere about weight of pads....

good find that. I have enquired Aswani about zero g, they have them in youth for £30, failing that it will be Puma when I can find a good deal somewhere. Plenty of time till next season.

Anyone tried these before? Very cheap. Not sure how much they would weigh but would be interested in knowing. They dont look like they offer much protection but should be okay for us park cricket blokes :D

I find that a lot of the lighter pads tend to look very silly. For that reason I think Puma pads are a good compromise. They are light-ish from around 650-800 grams depending on the model you go for. Calibre's are their 2 strap version.
Another decent 2 strap is the SS Millenium Ton pads. They weight about 660 grams but I personally didn't go for them as they felt very wide/bulky. I think VKS also do a lightweight pad in their own brand but I found someone on here who bought them and posted pics and I found aesthetically they looked cheap.
If you're looking for 500 grams I'd say you'll probably be buying pads that make you look silly when you go out to bat. Better off wearing another 100 grams and wearing some nice pads :)

I got a pair of morrants which are really light, I would like the fit a bit more snug like Aero but they seem a good compromise.

Just the other day I ordered both the morrant international ultralite and the plain super ultralite pads - sent them both back within 24hrs! The internationals were very strange, with a fluffy texture on the front which was not dissimilar to felt..personally I found that too odd for £95 (and incredibly impractical) but they were very comfy and light.. The Super ultralite ones, on the other hand, were simply not comfortable and were pretty poorly finished in my opinion.
The internationals weighed almost exactly 500g each, and the super ultralites were about 720g each, for reference.

Interesting.
My Morrants weigh 536 grams each on post Office scale.
My Aero P1s (Size small) are lighter than that.
Aero P1 is a much better product. Morrants feel very awkward and rigid to me. Regarding looks, nobody says anything about my P1s.

Agree P1 is much better, I have a pair in large, would one in small but they are not available any where. If you are getting rid of yours, let me know.
Cannot believe noone said anything about them to you though, I have always been greeted with interesting phrases when walking out to bat in my P1s.
-
^ once or twice a season some one asks about the pads out of curiosity. No goofy remarks.

There are not available anywhere simply because (next to) no-one buys them. If you want a pair i am happy to order them in. :)

That is becuase they look different and people fear being ridiculed. I don't give two hoots about what people think. :)
They are so easy to run with and move down the pitch...I find it shocking that more people are not using them.

Players want the best, if these were the best they would be used, they are light but not very functional.

Personal preference is another thing.
I do believe they are very functional.
I find a lot easier to run in my P1 even thought they are larger than any other pair I have used.

thanks mate, brand new ones will be out of my budget. Do let me know if you see a second hand pair knocking about.

What's the sizing on aero p1 or p2 pads? I am 5' 6" and am looking for some light and compact pads.

I have only used P1 pads ( leg guards). Have you used both P1 and P2?

I've only seen the P2s to be fair mate.
I only used them for one net so I'm not the best to judge the quality really.
-
^ I am toying with the idea of getting a second pair ...maybe I'll try P2.
-
I finally found a used set off gm rsbs.
Very light. Very comfy. Good protection. Impressed.
Just with them being ambidextrous. The calf protection isn't so good.
-

It's kinda hard getting hold of Aero pads here in the US. Only ones I could find were P2 ambi pads in medium.
-
So which pads are better 2 strap or 3 strap? Because i have heard that 2 strap pads are kinda loose
-

Haha if only life was that simple. It is very much personal preference, you will have to try and see what works for you.
-
Yes i know right...ok if that is what i have to do

I think those VKS pads didn't photo well. I rolled them up tight with bungees when I first bought them which made them look drain pipe straight and I must concede the photos made the protection look thin but the protection certainly is not. For £37 (I think), the protection is good for mid 70 mph, they are not ambidextrous as advertised so there is reasonable calf protection for the right hand batsman, they are good to run in, and looks are innocuous and I say that having played 5 months in them with the kind of teammates that make the oppo's sledging feel like compliments.
