-
What an offer. Great way for me to finally get to try a B3....especially as I can class this as a Christmas present to myself
-
Fantastic, I'll be ordering a Pepsi/Vogues/Warner style in the new year! Will you still have those white stickers available Dave? @procricket B3
-
Not sure we will pal think we only had 15 maybe more on route though will find out pal
-
Thanks mate, no worries if you don't - always a sucker for something colourful anyway!
-
Stunning offer! I was going to get my two daughters a bat each in readiness for their indoor nets in March; now they can have a B3 rather than a generic brand!
-
Hi dave
It says 50% of a "custom" bat. Is this just an offer on the custom part of the website? Of 50% of anything from a series to a bespoke?
Cheers chirs
-
You beauty!! I've been looking for a good excuse to treat myself to a B3 for about 6 months now haha :D now to decide what to get!
-
All bats Chris and for customers who have bought in the last month streaky says he will extend the 50 per cent to the end of the season.
Please not clefts will be around the average density.
So you can design your own (bespoke) or get a custom off the website or a series which streaky has designed

Fantastic offer!

Great offer from the lads of B3
-
Hey chums, can anyone remember what thread that chart was in that lets you see the starting weights of each of the shapes?
Also, Dave - I want to order a Sulphur. does that come under custom, and is their a number for it?
-
(http://i60.tinypic.com/25jwqom.jpg)
and any shape you can think of or see on here
But we can modify or change anything and of course bespoke sit in with the doctor
-
Glad you like the offer, the insurance have really come good.
One thing to point out on the offer, you won’t be able to get ultra-low density clefts, so if you want a light bat it will have to be a bespoke design to reduce the volume o achieve the weight rather than using low density clefts.
Oversized clefts are also available in this offer but at weights of 2lb 14oz or above.
To say we have been inundated with entrants would be an understatement!
-
I hope I didn't miss out on this...signed up but no email yet with the code :(
@procricket B3 what is the number for TCK Pepsi?
-

I should be ok with that weight mate :)..I will wait for the email with the code fingers crossed :)
Does this need to be on the phone or can I order via the website? if the website I am assuming it will be a series bat section or custom?
-
I know there a few pre made Pepsi in the showroom from 3 stripe and maybe the odd 1 stripe
One thing I will say and people with them will testify they pick up much much lighter
Dave
I have my eye on a older shape tck bat in the showroom half half made for him but he changed shape a right bat it is

Would a 2lbs8 DB2 be unavailable then?
-
Would a 2lbs8 DB2 be unavailable then?
No mate streaky would bespoke it to your weight that's why most will be bespoke because we can alter weights by bespoking it
-
would you be able to get the Typhon on this deal??
-
So could any shape be made to a 2lb 9oz bat? Pardon my ignorance I am not clear on the custom aspect.
-
Great offer. Out of interest, where does the 60% improvement in your average stat come from?
-
would you be able to get the Typhon on this deal??
The shape would yes but weight I couldn't tell you because I don't know what oversized clefts are in but streaky has said lowest weight for oversized clefts would be 2-14 mate
-
Signed up for this had a congratulations email, it says the email comes in 48 hours. I assume I have to wait for this before ordering as I will need to enter some kind of promo code.
-
Will the custom shapes we have seen on here (and respective owners have agreed to share the shape) would be priced as series? Assuming one goes for whatever density is available.
-

weight shouldn't be an issue as I'm using a 3lber at the moment - hopefully if/when the confirmation e-mail comes through i'll get in touch!
-

Well we canvas many of the people via our state of the art crm management tool which hold tens of thousands of data entry and at the minute we worked out a average of the people who sent there return in .
Hope this helps

Fair enough, sounds good. Do you not need a disclaimer saying how many were asked etc? Like you see on normal ads

Crap!! Now i want both mull and TCK :(
-
So could any shape be made to a 2lb 9oz bat? Pardon my ignorance I am not clear on the custom aspect.
You can use a shape already made or go totally bespoke however if it a shape already made and we can't match the density we can then make adjustments and it will be a bespoke if you get me maybe get streaky on to explain better
-
And my Mrs said I had impeccable timing :(
-
Crap!! Now i want both mull and TCK :(
I use both
-
What are the shipping costs to Canada guys? site says 80 which I suspect doesn't apply to a bat!!
-
I use both
Which one do you like better? TCK has a higher middle correct?
-
How do you order a Pepsi or mull shape ?

If you have the Phoenix voucher please email David@b3cricket what you want ie typhon or any other shape you see on here or if you want bespoke

Been told next 48 hours same as others

I think we agreed on a previous thread to do these as a custom price.

This has literally exploded.....
We will be back in touch with everyone that has submitted once we have collated the data - in all honesty this will probably be Tuesday next week, but rest assured we will be back in touch with each and everyone one of you. We will need to go back to the insurers to see if the are willing to extend the offer beyond the 100.
If you have questions on bats or shapes or weights, please could you wait for us to get in contact with you.
Crickey the lads are going to busy in January.........

was it the first 100 or a randomly selected 100?
-
First 100 and please remember there chatting with the insurers to allow for more to get the offer I understand people can't wait please everybody will know by Tuesday as streaky has said
Dave
-
So basically, if you haven't had an email yet, it could take until Tuesday to receive one?
-
What an offer! I've just got in from work so maybe a touch late but I've signed up! The B3 I have is a belter but with a few tweaks could be amazing :)
-
Signed up just now ... Very nice offer.
-
Ridiculous offer guys, hoping I'm one of the lucky ones! Already been looking at different profiles and what's on offer.
-
Nobody has had a email yet Bruce don't worry
-
What an offer £75.00 for a top end custom made bat well done B3
-
I always wanted a custom made bat. But, couldn't justify spending top dollar for lack of scoring runs lately.
Thanks to this offer ...I am going to get a stripe 2 , shorter blade (mid - low full profile) T20 style bat.
-
Put in a claim, I guess you can't argue the price. Do you still have the camouflague stickers?
-
longest 48hrs

Yes got camo stickers in

-
Camo stickers are accepted now?! Haha.
Since when weren't they?
-
How much stick you'd get at the crease for camo stickers?
My prediction is none - most of the opposition won't be able to see them anyway, and anyone who spots them is unlikely to care about them...
-
I know I disappeared to mums .net for a while. But Have i returned ba accident? Or have the overly self conscious milfs followed me back on here??

I think you are making the assumption it's some kind of huge corporate marketing dept with automated email systems, not a relatively small business where everybody is busy doing their day jobs. I expect some manual handle turning is required to process all the claims, so give it some time.

Spot on, got the email, looking forward to indulging in a new bat! @procricket B3 @thedoctor what are your opening days over the Christmas period? Don't get paid til next week but imagine you're then shut for the holidays.
-

-
Happy to say I made the cut!
-
Got my email! The Mrs will not be happy....
-
Seems like those b3 boys are going to busy in the new year with no doubt a whole host of Mull, warner, Pepsi bats
-
Woop, got my email too, think I'll be waiting until the new year before I order my David Warner stylee bat.
-
Mine hasn't come through yet :( I'll be gutted if I don't get one, I've already missed out on 2 cut price H4L's this year due to my slow reactions haha!
-
Looks like I didn't make the cut.... ah well, always next time!
-
Mine has come through, what is the time frame to use the voucher? Sorry if I've missed it previously!
-
I'd be tempted by the old favourite Trotton profile. Is it something like 1271?? Also, what weights did they typically come in at. Cheers
-

-
It has to be said that this is a fine gesture from B3!
-
I've got mine, thank you B3. I'll be calling in on Monday :) assuming its too late for today.
-

He actually prefers if you wear one of Fattus' patented "Batting Onesies".
-
yeah great stuff from the B3 boys, just shows a good marketing idea along with a good product always works, I can't help thinking thou B3 are sitting someone thinking 'Christ that was good but what just hit us lads?'
:)
-
@procricket B3 @The Doctor, better stock up on some oversized clefts and white stickers, I reckon there will be quite a few 'Warner' variants ordered. ;)
-
Why stop at 100 everyone that applied just issue them a code
-
I will be there on Monday trying to help you all as much as i can on a kind ov B3 live day however please bear in mind how busy we are but as ever i will try and help where i can...
Not my call stopping at 100 mate but i know there some clefts in as we are fully stocked and ready to rumble and i saw loads of clefts last week..
The pre made warners in the showroom think there 3 a few 3 stripes and a couple 1 stripe around 2-15 to 3lb i think but there a old Tom Kholer Cadmore half hearwood style shape made for him in there which is a cracker..
I think streaky could be busy on the whole skype things.
Remember if there a certain shape you are after but it too heavy for the clefts we can bespoke them but we are offering average density clefts in and around that mark we can always tailor the shape to suit the weight and if you around the area please do pop in with your code...
-
If possible can you please list down the specs of mull and tck Pepsi using these average density clefts. I am sure it will help many forum members.
Specs like weight, edge size, spine height and middle position.
Thanks

@procricketB3 including the Warner and the above profiles which do you rate as having the best pick up?
Cheers
-
Having owned a trott, a mull, and a thin edge Warner here's my take.
Pick up
Trott just over Warner followed by mull. Not that the mull is bad.
Middle coverage
Trott, mull and Warner. The Warner loses out as the toe being thin, the middle stops suddenly on mine, and is a rather dead toe.
Intimidation.
Warner, mull, trott. Warner screams massive, mull has many a comment on its size. The trott tends to offer great plays it hour shouting about it.
If picking between the he three, I'd take the mull, as I'm sure @JB and @Simmy will comment on what a phenomenal bat it was/is.
My mate has had a trott since b3 first month in business, and it's still banging out 600 runs a year at a 150plus strike rate!
But I won't have any, may design a one of like my extreme but not quite like the esteem. seeing as I'm paying half the price. Muhahahahaha
-
Whoop code came through! Il be ordering in the new year :)
Torn between a Typhon or Trott...
-
My 1271 is the best bat i have ever used i owend the orginal one and have seen lower grades and higher grades because of the coverage of wood it is impressive.
Pick up wise Pepsi is a great pick up but so is the Trott having massive shoulders
Mull is ok if you want a bigger bat with a high middle but plenty of wood all over.
Pepsi is a slightly higher middle than the Mull.
the orignal trott one of his own was so special to me shame i can't afford another or keep changing my mind
Trott 1271
http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=23466.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=23466.0)
Pepsi (mine square toe)
http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=36425.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=36425.0)
Pound for pound i would still go for 1271 Trott
-

I'm thinking of going for (if possible) physically the biggest Pepsi shape it's possible to make at around 3lbish, might not be possible to get any bigger with a 400 cleft but I've emailed Streaky to check!

In terms of the grading Dave, the 3 stripe options are they good value for money. Terms of looks and performance, in terms of my budget I'd be looking for something in that range and price point.
I tend to trust your opinion and judgement
Enjoy your Stella :)
-
@smilley792's Mull is a beast!! The pick up is very good on the mull as well, no idea what I'll do with the voucher! There is so much choice!!

Hi Chaps,
Crickey we are going to be busy in January, I have been inundated with emails asking a similar type of question, so to try and make my life a little easier and also to speed the process up a little, so that you get your bats faster I thought I would post something on here almost like F.A.Q that you can refer too.
Firstly the price for those lucky enough to enter and get a code – we will be checking your emails also, so it is not as simple as just providing the code to receive your discount.
This is a onetime offer.
Offer is for bats only
Grades - 3 stripe / 2 stripe & 1 Stripe ONLY - No Crown or Butterfly
Offer ends February - so all bats must be paid for by then.
You won’t be able to select your cleft, I will do this. This is because having a selection for everyone is not practical and we will very quickly have 400 clefts out (4 per order) and we wouldn’t be able to use the other 3 until a cleft had been selected.
If you come to the factory you can select your own willow
The bats will be made from average density clefts (400 +) and therefore the weights quoted on the pictures below are the lightest we can get each shape.
All “extras” (scuff sheet / toe guard / ripple grip) are extra weight to be added on
SERIES
A definition of a SERIES bat is the following – a DB1 / DB2 / DB3
(http://i65.tinypic.com/20qcgf4.jpg)
All bats in the showroom will be classed as series bats – we won’t be able to take photos of these but you are more than welcome to come to the Factory.
CUSTOM
A definition of a CUSTOM bat is bat numbers 4 to 25 in the bat chart OR a bat designed on our website on the custom bat builder.
Additional Profile weights
New TKC / DW - 2lb 15.5
DW- small Edge / BIG spine - 2lb 13.5oz
Typhon - 3lb
All other bats please email me and I will let you know the minimum weight and I will then add it to the above list.
These also include any bespoke bat that has already been made.
If you build your bat online, please email me the configuration P / E / S numbers and I will let you know the minimum weights.
The reason why these are a Custom and not a Series is that these will be custom made opposed to the Series range where we have a stock of pre-mades in the factory.
BESPOKE
A BESPOKE bat is any of the above that are changed in any way, a new CAD design or a bat map
STICKER OPTIONS
Please choose from the following sticker options
(http://i64.tinypic.com/29c83sl.jpg)
third one down on the right hand side is discontinued and therefore not available
No Snow white stickers left!
ORDERING
Once you have decided on your spec – please email / ring them across – I will then take payment.
Add ons are
Knock in & face - 20
Toe guard - 5
Bat Bag - 6
Extra grip - 5
Postage
1. UK will be - 7.50
2. USA - 35
3. Australia / NZ / HK / India / Pakistan / Middle East - 45
I hope the above makes it easier for everyone.
Glad you liked the offer ;-)

Never have I been so baffled or confused as to what to order?! Sooo many options!! >:(

Thinking maybe Warner small edge, big spine? Seems popular and never had a bat with a really big spine.
@The Doctor do you do the above with a thicker toe variant? Does this shape tend to pick up lighter than actual weight? I generally use around 2lb 13oz fully dressed but could obviously go heavier if bat picks up a bit lighter?
Thanks, realise you're busy busy busy!

I have picked up both and used a Pepsi type and messed around with various small edge profile (insert players name) variants yes they do pick up very well pal

Do mate get what you want it's about seeing people designs come to light once your design has been mapped streaky can then tell you volume of wood and match it with what we have or if to heavy make tweeks or if to light make tweeks to bulk it up(funny enough most people don't need this bulking up)

-
If I wanted a B3 in the weight of 2lb 9oz am I limited to the shapes that are in the chart above?
No, you'll be able take one of those shapes and tweak it to get the weight down. It will then be classed as bespoke. That's how I understand it anyway
-
That is correct by and large you can tweek anything
-
My 1271 is the best bat i have ever used i owend the orginal one and have seen lower grades and higher grades because of the coverage of wood it is impressive.
Trott 1271

Pound for pound i would still go for 1271 Trott
Thanks for the feedback, decisions to be made.
-
So a 1271 in a 2lb 9oz can be done and it won't be an issue etc?
Shame we can't see some clefts of the bats. I understand the demand is high.
-
Trying to take 6 ounces out of the shape may be a bit extreme though considering they normally come in 2.15 at 400.
I'd imagine taking that much out of it you may lose the whole idea behind it of having meat everywhere So a 1271 in a 2lb 9oz can be done and it won't be an issue etc?

It is basically 6mm all over which does change the shape very much i would personally go for the zizi which would come in around 2-10 but that is spineless almost but does pack a punch but pick up is great would come out at around 2-11 though

I got myself all confused last night when talking about bat grading. I'm right in thinking 1 Stripe is the lower grade?? What are the like performance and looks wise in terms of other brands, H4L and Red ink look to churn out some good looking sticks in the lower grades so how do B3 compare?
Sorry to pester you, I'm sure you've had loads of requests n stuff

i have a one stripe i use quite a bit plays as well as it will be pressed individually like every B3 bat to get the best out of it not gang pressed.
I will be honest this is a very good looking one stripe but it is grade 3 williow as stated by JS Wrights and Streaky eye pal which i trust.
We are one of the biggest users of clefts in the Uk so i hope we can cater for everybody mate hope this helps

Email sent, looking at the new Mullinator vs the new TCK Pepsi, the shapes look similar to me just overall size being the major difference, hard to tell not having an either in the flesh but very excited to be getting on of these down to NZ. So how much is a 1271 Trott 1 Stripe going to cost me? I'm confused by the website
-
Email sent
No idea what it's going to cost me but like @cricketbadger I think I'll go for a 1 stripe 1271 (either that or a Warner think edge profile).
Whichever shape I go for I may need to tweak it slightly to get it down to my weight.
-
So how much is a 1271 Trott 1 Stripe going to cost me? I'm confused by the website
A 1 stripe 1271 will cost you £87.50 after discount - a bargain if you are after a heavy bat. I loved the shape of Dave's original Trott
It's a shame I have a special DW 3 stripe ready shaped and to pay for
-

Wow cheaper than I expected, ha what about a 2 stripe then. May be worth a bonus upgrade.
I known it will be a heavier bat than I'm currently using and used to, but I'm hoping the spread of the weight will slightly counter the weight issue
-

Sorry it's £87.50 - not much difference unless you require the shape customising to reduce the weight slightly
-
No problem. Still sounds like a good deal to me
-
I have 3 b3's and another one early next year - you won't be disappointed
-
Basically cut the price in half gentleman
A custom is all shapes previously done
A bespoke is a changed shape or new shape
As for the mull v pepsi size and the fact the pepsi has a slightly higher middle helping the pick up

Hi bud, I did a bit of a comparison on this thread:
http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=36439.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=36439.0)
If you're used to using medium weights around 2.12, Mullanator is the way to go. If you're a heavy bat user, (2.14-3lb) then the Pepsi is better. Personally, I feel my Mullanator is one of the best bats in terms of ticking all the boxes of response, pick up and feel. All that in a 1 stripe!
-
I can see your point i used 2-8 and under most of my life but for the last 6 games last year went to 2-12 Mull and scored around 300 runs in our run in so can't argue with Chad it what i have used.
The pepsi i got is slightly heavier but picks up in the same bracket both great bats and think my Mull is a 2 stripe i think just went up in weight and found it more forgiving but as i say i do net a hell of a lot and new before i went out how good the Mull was in pick up
-
I'm looking forward to seeing what these Pepsi's are like
-
Which of your series profiles is closest to the GM Octane F2?

I'm looking forward to seeing what these Pepsi's are like
Let me know mate. Might be in the market for one next year if they are any good.

I have 2 B3's at the moment they are good sticks. Hopefully you do mate. I'll probably put an order in when they get a new delivery of tasty willow!
-

The pick up is light for the weight, it doesn't feel like what you'd expect a 2lb 11.5oz bat to feel like. The coverage is also ridiculous on it, would highly recommend it over the Pepsi if you use a medium weight. :) Pepsi is more for the lads like Smiley, who wield 3lb clubs!

Any premade mull there in shop Dave?

So am I right that it'd be 175 for a 3 stripe Trott?
-
So am I right that it'd be 175 for a 3 stripe Trott?
Correct. A 3 stripe 1271 will weigh 2.15 at 400 cleft density. Any modification to keep the weight down would make it bespoke at 187.50
-
Weight shouldn't be an issue - was planning on rounding it up to 3lb :)

Question regarding the DW/Kaboom shape in general, what kind of play is it really designed for? Just front foot slogging? I'm intrigued in getting something from the Custom Series because I'm an idiot, but having never held a bat over 2'10 I can't imagine me enjoying it much...

Warner bats have a very high middle. It's quite bouncey in aus, so one would presume you don't get much low hits on a bat. Plus it helps with cuts and pulls.
Not that front foot driving isn't at all possible. Plenty of wood for all.

New shape that we are getting asked a lot of questions about.
Mull - 2lb 13oz - pick up about 2lb 10.5oz
-
If you are on a weight limit - I would recommend this shape, been designed to achieve a bigish looking bat at a realistic weight with an excellent pick up - I bring you the NEW DB1
(http://i65.tinypic.com/4r4ahl.jpg)
You can get this at 2lb 8oz

I'm happy to have a Pepsi/DW with the biggest possible profile thank you . 2lb 14 - 2lb 15 none of this girly weights ;) :D

Everybody else can

Has anyone owned no.11 on the bat chart and can post a review/pictures?
-
Chatted with Dave today and would just say that everyone needs to be reasonably realistic about bat size at a given weight. The Pepsi/Warner profiles are out of the window unless they are fairly heavy. I worked through a couple of options today for my 2'11 and with some compromises I got something I am very happy with.

We have over sized in grade 1 and 2 but in limited quantities, as we have over 1500 clefts in stock it is unlikely that we will be getting more O/S clefts in before the offer runs out.
Shapes needing O/S clefts - Pepsi / DW small edge / Typhon / Mull

Anyone here has a good clear picture of the Trott Profile or the 1271 profile as it is called? I tried checking some old postings and for some reason the pictures are not showing up. I am planning to have something that has lot of meat in the mid to low profile with a thick toe. Balls here in US stay low (matting) and I am primarily a front foot batsman who likes to play attacking cricket. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Concaving if needed for it took come in 2.14/15

We don't make any money on the courier.
We have used cheaper companies in the past - (got to be honest though i have never seen it at £15) and found the level of service average at best. We use the best courier in terms of time/ reliability and traceability.
So far, all we have had is praise for this offer - if you don't like the way we operate you don't have to take us up on the offer.

I can vouch for the excellent service of the couriers they use; every bat i have ordered from B3 that was posted on a Thursday in the UK has been delivered on a Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
It's better than M&H who don't give you a price for delivery; they just use the VAT amount to cover this... when you are considering a 500 Stirling bat that equates to around 80 quid for postage... :(

Yes it does mate as most bats over 43mm will require oversized

Love that low middle Tendulkar profile. @procricket B3 can you confirm if this is available on the offer as a custom made.
-
all the pictures above are customs as there already made
-
That Tendulkar shape is a seriously chunky monkey!! Just got off the phone with Streaky, got myself a 3 Stripe Pepsi on the way :)

Whats the weight that you decided on?
My current H4L is just over 3lb so I don't mind as long as it's no more than 3lb really, went for round handle for a change too, I'm thinking it could be a slogging machine haha
-
Can you specify handle shape on the custom range?
-
I think you'd probably be able to specify handle shape whatever the range?
-
Woo Hoo 2 Stripe Pepsi coming my way

Can you specify handle shape on the custom range?
Yes mate you can

If you are on a weight limit - I would recommend this shape, been designed to achieve a bigish looking bat at a realistic weight with an excellent pick up - I bring you the NEW DB1

You can get this at 2lb 8oz

Thanks @smilley792. I have a DB1 (1 stripe) on order with B3 expected delivery - mid jan 2k16. I am going to try it out first and then decide whether to lower the sweet spot or raise it higher. In the meantime ... i am going to keep looking at all these photos and confuse me even more ... just too many options :D
-
Why can't there be actual pics of a 2,9 bat. You all wield bats that are far too heavy!
Looking at the shapes on the chart is good but hard to tell what they'll look like when made.

I was a bit the same Matt, but I've started nerding through the forum and seeing a few bats and working out what I like.
I'm looking for 2.8 - 2.9, so I've narrowed my options down to:
DB3
No.4
No.14
DB3 seems to have good reports about it's pickup, as does the No.4 - not sure if anyone owns the No.14 one yet?
-
I have decided on a shape!!
All that's left to do now is arrange it and send some money to B3
Just dropped you a PM Mr Doctor :D

Hi Chaps,
I am just about to hang my boots up for Christmas, apologies if I have not got back in touch about your bat, been absolutely flat out since the offer went live. I am back in on the 29th so will pick up then. I am not going to be turning my computer on over the Christmas break and spend a little time with Mrs B and my three young 'ens.
Happy Christmas

Does anyone own professional shape#14? If so, can you post some pics?
Thanks.

Just realised I actually got paid today, nowwwww it's time to ponder...
-
Just logged in to the forum for the first time in a fortnight due to work commitments, realised I missed the boat on this phenomenal offer and now feel physically sick (nowt to do with Mrs F's modest efforts with the turkey).
Had emailed David at B3 a few weeks back re a custom long blade. Christmas (almost) ruined!
The question now is whether I can bring myself to look at the bat porn which will be flooding the forum in a few weeks.
Bah bloody humbug.

Give it 6 weeks and there will be a few for sale on here even cheaper that will be barely used if used at all because they're an ounce too heavy!

@procricket B3 Do you have anything that is mashup of Trott profile (1271) and Tendulkar profile?
-
No mate not that i have seen other may i will ask streaky tomorrow when he returns to work
-
Thanks Mate. I think that will be an ideal combination. Thick shoulders to supplement the bottom heavy profile.
-
@procricket B3 Do you have anything that is mashup of Trott profile (1271) and Tendulkar profile?
Quite like the sound of that
-
IT would be mega heavy and as
The tenduulkar followed by the 1271 uses the most volume out of a cleft your basically looking at a cleft on a handle.
My new crown follows the principle of big shoulders with a lower middle just ducked very sharply
-
Dave what about your current crown keeping the spine the same size but significantly reducing the edges down? 30 mil would be sufficient
Mike
-
I'm heading down tomorrow guys, looking to get one of my old favourites re made but in a more modern way, it is around 8 years old and bat making has come a long way since as we all know, so it'll be interesting to see what can be done.
bat weighs 2:9 and a bit, so ill (hopefully) have some pictures of what a bat that weight looks like. Looking forward to seeing the process/factory and meeting the guys :)

But by you missing out it gave me a chance to sample one of these highly regarded B3 bats ;) . Waiting for it is killing me though :D

I've changed my mind on the shape so many times, but rather than go for an oversized monster that will purely be for show (no pun intended). I decided to go for a different approach and head down the route of going for a replica of McCullum's Bat as it seemed like a nice enough shape and (hopefully) wouldn't come in too heavy. :D Only got to man up and stick with it now really !!!

What does his bat look like. I heard the Commentators say he was using a 3lb beast.
-
in terms of dimensions it does, in no way, compare to the massive bats warner was using in the ashes this year. It just looks like a slightly smaller/lower profile version of the conventional duckbill. I would recommend having a look on google for him batting against Sri Lanka. I'm sure that there is some room to tinker and get the weight down.
-
On review; it does look rather porky! I could be in for criticism as to my hypocrisy towards the bat :(
-
trip down to B3 complete and what a great experience it was. :)
Arrived and its great to see the quality of the bats within the showroom that are available for you to just pick up and swing about, as well as the rack of pro bats that are great to look at as well.
First of all Streaky pointed me in the direction of the DB2, which although being a great shape it wasn't exactly what I wanted although not far off. Plus I wanted to have a look at the bat mapping process just out of interest so we set about mapping my old bat. Within minutes Streaky had my bat up and was making slight tweaks, I wanted the same shape but bigger (My old bat is a fair few years old now). Streaky made a few recommendations all of which made sense to help the pick up and make the bat stronger, it has always had really thin shoulders and was prone to breaking up there. He then gave me the option of focusing on making the edges bigger, spine or both. We finally decided on the shape and to me it looks really good and exactly what I wanted, so im excited to go and pick up the finished article.
It's great to sit there and be able to work on exactly what you want especially whilst being able to questions streaky's knowledge and find out exactly what would work and see the thinking behind every part of the shape and handle as im really picky with my grip set up.
I've left the cleft selection down to streaky himself, just giving him a slight nudge on how id like it to look as I have no doubt it'll perform just fine.
I'd reccomend getting to the factory if you can, its great just to have a look around although I wouldnt reccomend taking any type of card, i also left with pads, gloves and keeping gloves :-[
-
Glad you had a good day pal I always recommend going down there if your close if not you can do the mapping via Skype.
For me the design process is brilliant and gives a insight into bats you don't always get

Wait, B3 are back after Christmas?
That means I can look forward to an email from Streaky about having a shape mapped! :D

Just putting my head down after a day at b3 today. Was massively impressed with the setup there and great to meet Dave after years of pms about bats etc. I went for a custom zizi in the end and can't wait for the finished product to arrive.
What impressed me the most was the size of some of their profiles (particular the Pepsi and typhoon ) and how well they pick up. I went in thinking I was after a 2.8 and could have easily walked out with a 3lber.
Dave is a true gent and was an absolute pleasure to get the chance to talk bats and cricket with him.
Thanks guys
-
Order placed! :D And now the wait...
Cheers B3, top stuff.

I will be away from the forum for a week or so i have cricket burn-out currently so please do not think i'm being rude if i don't respond.
All the best for the Year year to everybody on the forum and to the people effected by the floods i wish you speedy recoveries

To all B3 owners what's your opinions on performance between the different grades i.e 1 stripe, 2 stripe, 3 stripe & crown?

Never had a crown.
1,2,3 all perform the same.

Grade of willow does not necessarily affect how they play, a grade 1 bat could out perform a grade 3 but it could also be the other way round, pressing and quality of handle is more likely to affect how each grade plays.
If you want a better looking and possibly a lighter bat then crown grade, if your not worried about how your bat willow looks then 1 stripe is great value..
But as grading is generally done on looks, you will find that any grade could out perform the other..

That looks lovely mate going to be a very good shape that ;)
-
so what are the specs then? looks like a custom profile...
-
I fancy the look of that one Cam, give us all the details. You may have just picked my shape for me
-
Specs, you'll have to ask @The Doctor about that.
I had @simonmay5's Scat mapped, all i can tell you is the finished weight will be around 2lb9 :D
-
Novice question - Are B3 quoted weights with grip and stickers applied or simply the weight out of the CAD before all the jazzy extras are applied??
-
Looks a cracking shape that! A bit like the original shape H4L Tempo to my eye with that big high spine and thin edges.
-
Love the look of that shape.
Cam when do you expect to get it?
-
It should be with me some when in the 3rd week of January, RoCo
I'm more excited by this than I was by Christmas last year... :D
-
For anyone who's owned a B3, how many hours of knocking in would you suggest? Have a Puma bat mallet, Salix bat wax and Helicopter scuff waiting in the wings...
-
I've heard people say they don't need much knocking in but someone much wiser than me will be able to give you better advice I'm sure!
-
For anyone who's owned a B3, how many hours of knocking in would you suggest? Have a Puma bat mallet, Salix bat wax and Helicopter scuff waiting in the wings...
I'm not an expert by any means but I did a harrow 3 stripe the other day for my son - a light coat of oil and an hour with the mallet, mainly on the edges and toe ,and now its off to winter nets and the Bola - should be OK and will open up over the coming months. Interestingly it felt harder pressed than some of the other bats I've knocked in over the years, although that might just be me! Great little bat though and a very enjoyable trip to Northampton to pick it.
-
The two I've had required very little knocking in, for all the shape/CNC stuff I think B3's pressing is their best point, don't need much with the mallet and perform quickly and well. Hour or so on the edges and toe, scuff it and get in the nets!

Ouch!! I took one of the pre-made one's before Christmas so I didn't have to wait for making time. Doc had said he would ship it in the new year to avoid Christmas madness, asked him today if she had left and he told me it went out on Monday :) now that's good service and sticking to your word. I just hope somebody has put a pillow and sleeping bag for him at the workshop, no way he is going home before March.

Ahh ive left him with a little bespoking to do, so the wait is no ones fault but my own! Service was impeccable, as Streaky actually skipped through alot of emails to find me due to a post on here, cant ask for much more than that.

The Podfather may not be making Screaming Cats any more, but Simon's & Chad's have been mapped, so the shapes will live on forever.
I can't wait to see what my B3aming Cat comes out like :D

We can line up the copies after to see how well they did mate :)

Vital stats for those interested.
I'm thinking of it as the "Warner small edge" profiles baby brother

I know that everyone seems to be going for the big profiles and oversized clefts but I can't wait to see this when it gets made! That's a really nice shape, what stripe did you go for Cam?
-
Only went for a one stripe, January isn't a great time to be buying anything really! :(
Now it's on the B3 computer I can get another one made at a later date though
-
I know the feeling, the wife's just dropped it in that she wants to extend her maternity to a year! Meaning 3 months without pay!!!
-
Order placed! Nothing too adventurous but it's finally time to try a B3 and a long blade. So I've gone with a DB1 long blade in order to get something that's still under 2lb 9oz.
-
I think Cam's looks like a cracker. I am tempted to get the same shape made in a 3 stripe.
-
i'll be picking up my bespoke tomorrow! excited is not the word. Haven't seen any pics of it which means the excitement is off the hook! :-[

Been home for a little while after the trip down to B3 today.
All I can say is, what a great place and a great set of guys. If you can get yourself down to the factory then make sure you do! its great just to sit and chat cricket with a bunch of guys who are open about everything and have some great experience in the industry, for example I never knew Mark Boucher had a little groove to put his finger in on his bats. Its the little things you can learn that are the best. Its good to see people who are so passionate about their work and positive as well especially with everything after the fire.
Now in terms of the bats, I had one mapped which you can see in the 50% bargain thread. Two others I had refurbed with weight reductions as well. They have come out great, I asked B3 to take 3oz out of one and 4 oz out of the other. I wasn't too bothered about the size of them at the end and tbh taking that much weight out of a bat I expected them to come out like toothpicks but somehow B3 have managed to keep most of the size and get them down to the weight i wanted and making them almost exactly the same (only 0.01oz) out. The finishing is great and the stickers are class, I really want a white and blue set though, that would be perfect.
In terms of shapes, I kind of regret just getting my old bat remapped. The warner is fantastic, it really does pick up as well as people are saying so I wouldnt be scared of going for one. I have been using a 2.10 GM Mogul for the past couple of the weeks and the warner shape at 3lb only picked up slightly heavier. It's a shame that one was taken after I had finished my tour otherwise the wallet might have taken another hit. It's definitely going to be my next shape.
The TKC and Gareth cross shapes are also up there and dont rule out the DB2, of course this is my opinion.
Like I have said before if you can get down to B3 then definitely do it! It really is a great experience. I've enjoyed my day that much im going to pop the doctor an e-mail with some specific requirements and wait to see his reply or wait to see if they can pop up.
Thanks B3 for the hospitality! I hope the success continues in 2016 :)

How long were you there for? @ch1p

@liscon12 I was there for about 2 hours maybe a little bit longer - could have been there for a lot longer but tried to avoid the traffic driving back to Liverpool

Now just a waiting game... Should be there, ready for me by the time I get back to uni :D

Hi @liscon12 - are you still coming?
Hi Streaky, yes the plan was to come in today however I have indeed been hit by man flu of huge proportion.I'll still get down before February don't you worry :)
-
Man flu doesn't exist. It's a term women used to say about men when they pretended they were far iller than they were to get waited on all day.
When on earth did it become an actual illness? Or do you mean you just have a cold??

It means throbbing head ache and mucus flowing uncontrollable from every orifice
-
@The Doctor Hi Streaky posted a couple of times and emailed about trying to get down next week to use my voucher and get a refurb on one of my B3s, was thinking of Tuesday morning are any days better than others to have a nosey.

Can this be copied as really wanted a gm maestro and could not get one (http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r659/Simonalfie5/image_zpsr99xb9sw.jpeg) (http://s1360.photobucket.com/user/Simonalfie5/media/image_zpsr99xb9sw.jpeg.html)
Did you get this shape copied @simonmay5 ?
-
Isn't that the octane shape?
-
The octane has less in the toe i think, with a bit more of a concentrated hitting zone. That maestro looks as though its a lot more of an all over hitting shape
-
Did you get this shape copied @simonmay5 ?
I have not decided what to get done yet I am thinking of going up their and sorting it out as a good friend wants one as well so will post pictures of what I end up with but won't be till start of Feb

Wrong it's a term women created to undermine the dreaded effects of flu on a man to make themselves feel superior. They, you see, can work a full time job, look after 2-3 kids and do all the housework when they have the flu, but a man can't life a finger. They are implying therefore that man flu must be so much more severe than women flu in a very sarcastic way.... Another is when somebody says "If you really had flu, you wouldn't be able to get out of bed" I'm like... 'no, I'm not a 85 year old with bird flu. I'm an otherwise healthy adult with the flu.' Anyway yeah I phoned in work last week with my symptoms and the lady who took my call couldn't help herself but to say "Is it man flu"
I might buy a 50% reduced B3 just to beat her with >:(

Totally agree. Lost count of the number of times the wife has had something worse than me, because she must have being a woman.

Has anyone got any CAD or real live images of shape 18 from the Custom shapes, I'm told this is a certain current England players shape. Any pics would be great :D

18 is a great shape pal, there were a few in the showroom when we went down and as I'm typing this I realise that I told you the other day about the 18 and that's probably why you are asking for pictures, making my whole reply here completely redundant as you already know I think it's a great shape...........

Some advise is needed guys:
I'm looking to purchase a Pepsi or Mullanator, can someone tell me for certain the sweet spot position of them
Thanks.
-
Pepsi has a slightly higher sweet spot on the mull but is a bigger bat if that makes sence

I've got a Pepsi and what Dave says is right the middle is quite high but there is still a lot of meat in the driving area.
-
Put my order in for a Dave Warner...may need to hit the weights between now and BDT (Bat Delivery Time). Can't wait.
-
The Pepsi pings right up to the stickers, is pretty dead at the toe but I'd say from about 10cm from the bottom it really starts pinging

The thin edge monster spine Warner shape?

Thank you for your comment pal it is indeed a monster bat so is good for all round shots but same as the mull coverage is excerllant all over so a bat for any type of player but both are
What I would say is both pick up excerllantly it all depends on weight if you can handle the Pepsi or the slightly lower weighted mull.
I have both I use the mull as I feel it right for me
-
The thin edge monster spine Warner shape?
No, it's bigger brother, the gert big monster one.

Forgot to mention the pickup! It's actually the most impressive part of the bat, I mean don't get me wrong like you said pal, it's impressively large and pings all over but it's the pickup that blew me away, trust me @waikik you would not believe the Pepsi weighed 2lb15oz if you picked one up.
-
No, it's bigger brother, the gert big monster one.
Excellent! Never even thought about getting one of them made! Do you know how the specs match up to the Pepsi?
-
There a 3 stripe Pepsi in the showroom currently which is a clean and belting blade
For somebody contact b3 soon if you want it it will not hang around long (inside info)

Don't know the exact specs of a Pepsi aside from it's approx weight, the DW should come in at 2lb14ish with a pick up of 2lb12ish. A team mate has also got a Pepsi which I'm hoping to compare side by side when I get mine. I will get some photos up ASAP.

Pepsi is approx. 46mm edge and 73mm spine if memory serves.

Hello is the offer still available ? Need someone from b3 guys via pm. I bought 1 bat from cbf from Red Ink ( John ) did a bat review also Many Thanks
-
Hi @ManHOOS I'm afraid this offer finished months ago, the 100 vouchers we're all allocated in the first day or two.
If you hang around on the forum and keep an eye out in the forsale/swap there could be some cheap B3's going if people decide they want to sell theirs on.
-
Ah ok :-[ thanks for quick answer, i was unable to understand their chart as i m not good but tried to draw on piece of paper, having tight on budget, thought i will share my drawing and get something in the offer :(
-
If you've got a design in mind then I'm sure you could discuss this with @The Doctor, he'll be able to take your drawing and turn it into CAD profile and he'll be able to show you 3D images of what it will look like.
I'm sure the guys at B3 will be able to help you out no matte what budget you have.
-
I have drawn a couple of the shapes I wanted and even did measurements every 5 cm up and down the blade. That's how I created a few of my shapes
Also if you have a full side on profile shot of the bat you want we can Bat Map any shape.
Hope this helps any queries please do contact me or any other member at b3

I can confirm that the bat mapping service work very well.
I had a Screaming Cat mapped, then tweaked to get the weight down and the shape is spot on (with a slightly lower spine on the B3). :)

Netted with my B3 Mull at the weekend, can confirm it is an absolute monster! (The blue one from the trio of mulls thread). Ping is as good as I have felt, slightly on the heavy side though.

I don't think I need to say anything about quality of the bat nor the design. Hopefully this is the beginning to the end of my made in India bats :)
cheers

is that Bespoke sticker applied on top of the scuff?

Looks like slim its under

Most likely its on the top. I have a B3 Custom bat which has a scuff sheet on the bat and custom sticker is applied on top of the scuff sheet.

yes

Maybe if you scaled it down to a size 5 ;)
-
@kaartman that screaming cat profile is nice. Looks great with the black grip and blue on black. You wont know how it goes until it has had a few nets to play in. All my B3 cannon off the middle, I think you will know the difference already in how tight it feels out of the wrapper. Willow grains are even. Good value.
