HI guys,
I might go to Pakistan next month and thinking about picking a few things from there, anyone know where I could buy CA players edition in Lahore? any idea of the price? What about this 7 star players edition bat?
Thanks
-
Not sure about Lahore but Sailkot is 1.5 hr drive from it. You will find large selection and better prices at Factory stores in Sailkot.
-
visit the factory in sialkot mate, u wont be dissapointed, you can choose from a wide variety of bats, the players edition goes for around 30000 rupees/about £200
-
Do they have any shop at the factory? I'll go to Sialkot if I have to ;)

Not sure of the shop but you can buy from the factory.
If you wish to buy from Lahore then I would suggest you to go to Millat Sports in Shah Alami Market. They are arguably biggest retailer in Punjab.

Ok great thanks I'll go there...also ca have website too but if I order from their website, do they send the bat according to your specs? like if I ask them for a 2.8 bat on the scale and 11-13 grains?
-
I have the worst possible EVER customer service experience with CA factory.
They will sell you the most expensive bat, and won't recognize you after you pay the bill. Over dried and over expensive bats come with absolutely no warranty but they will happily take your money.
All the best dealing with them.
-
@Sitonit I have had the exact same experience dealing with AS.
-
Never buy direct from CA. I have also bought from them and they charge more then normal shops when they should be cheaper and also I asked for a 2.7 Weight bat and they sent me a 2.10 bat. When I messaged them regrading it they decided to ignore my emails.
-
MB are the best to deal with and also HS owner Imran is a nice guy. Try HS but make sure you deal with Imran he sends exact what you want and honest guy.

Why should they be cheaper than retailers? They wouldn't have retailers if it was cheaper to go direct.

So are there any shops that sell authentic bats in Lahore? Any shops in liberty or defence? I know about Zaidi sports but I know their shop is always empty with only a few bats...so thats useless.

call up CA and ask them.

Yep, and their handle quality is generally quite poor, no matter how high end of a bat it is. So it's a hit or miss thing.
-
I am in Lahore now and went to that CA Center and they r asking for Rs.38000 for 15000 players edition Wow that's £251 just wondering if it's even worth it now?

isn't that much cheaper than what you would get in the UK?

you can get them here for the same price, a freind if mine got me one from pakistan which worked out to be around £210

And you are prone to pay custom and import charges upon arrival in UK. OR even worse, they have the power to cut your bat right in the middle of the sweet spot with a saw to see if there are no drugs in it? :D
-
CA 15000 Players Edition cost 350+ pounds in UK, I'm talking about 2016 model which is soft pressed and had duckbill toe. All CA bats which I have seen this year have amazing ping and far better than their previous models in terms of pressing, performance and pickup. 38000 PKR is correct price and you will not get any cheaper than that.
-
Sorry forgot to mention, you don't pay any customs charges if you bring it yourself. I brought 2 bats from Pakistan in Feb and had no issues.

Second that.. 38000 PKR for players edition and 23000 for standard CA15000 is the pretty much the lowest price in Pakistan. As per a big CA retailer in Karachi, CA gives commission on number of bats sold by the retailer and there is no Whole sale price on these. I found the price to be similar at CA factory store in Sailkot and at a Authorized retailer in Karachi.
Not sure about UK but never paid any customs on bats here in US (brought 6 once).
-
Ask the CA guys what's the moisture content in their high-end bats and if they have any device to measure it in front of you?
Also, inquire about a warranty? If you are paying Rs 40K for a bat, it better be good enough to last for a year with normal play. See if they can provide one year warranty on breakage with normal use.

Willow Trees have not suddenly started to produce some extra special kind of timber.
I am sure it's the same willow quality that was marketed as CA 10K L.E a few years ago for a lot less. But now they have put some new stickers on it, dried the willow a bit more, and placed some incorrect weight labels to sell it for £350 under the 15000 players flag.
-
If you visit the factory they tend to give you 35-45% off on the MRP based on your bargaining skills.

Agreed with Sitonit. Those are same willows but so is the case with every manufacturer, they all put new stickers, grips etc every year and increase prices. The weight mentioned by CA is NAKED weight which does not include stickers, grip, toe guard etc. Also you are right their bats were used to be bit dry but believe me this year their bats are not dried at all and are not hard pressed at all at least the ones which are exported. My friend has a cricket shop in Morden, Surrey and I've seen at least 20 CA bats and they all are amazing and yes, they are all around 2.8-9 finished weight. Don't know how they get it so light may be because they are the biggest customers of JS wright and buys more willow than anyone else.

From the previous videos of Hammer cricket, one of the video mentions that CA actually reduces the size of the bat. Like for an adult bat, the size of the blade is actual harrow size to get the huge profile and weight in 2.8 to 2.9 range. again I haven't personally measured it myself, so couldn't confirm its true in all cases. Also, I did check of couple of SG bats this season here at the local retailer and saw that the width of the bat is few mm Smaller than other bats there. I guess they are doing it to get weight lighter and get the big edges and and full profile.
-
pretty sure some bat makers out there have a whole book of tricks to make bats look bigger for the weight, or lighter for the size.

CA bats have a 1cm shorter blade / 1cm longer handle (same overall length, and width as regular SH bats). This is why they generally pick up so well (along with the higher middle position). This configuration (1cm shorter blade, 1cm longer handle) seems to be quite the rage these days with other brands!

^^
That's a lie - at least in my test.
Even though I am not a great big fan of CA but truth must be told and lies should be exposed. I just got a CA 10000 L.E. SH measured with a GM DXM L.E. SH - and guess what? CA's blade is taller in than the GM.
CA's total length is 34 inches. That's about 23 inches blade and about 11 inches for the handle.
GM is 33.5 inches with 22.5 for the blade and 11 inches for the handle.
Both have the face width of 4.25 inches.
Edge size on CA is 40mm
Edge size on GM is 30 mm
CA Weighs 2.8
GM weighs 2.10
However, in my personal opinion, GM is light years ahead of CA in pickup, balance and performance.
-
I knock in dozens of CA's every year. I've never seen a full sized one in terms of overall size, most are a similar size to a Harrow and the majority of them are not 108mm wide in terms of blade width either
thebfully knocked in stickers they carry, as well as the weight stickers are comedy gold as well
-

This could be true in your experience and I don't have any counter argument; however, my experience with CA vs GM is different (as posted above). Can upload comparison pics if you'd like?

Whole heartedly agree.
Some defenders of the CA bats claim that the weight mentioned on the bats is the naked bat weight in lbs ... so 2.8 means 2.8 lbs, which means, it's about 2 lbs 12 oz, and then you put a grip and stickers on it. Either way, it's a deceptive marketing ploy that everyone hates.
The stickered message "Ready to play" is 100% wrong. I have seen £350 bats splitting in two after facing a couple of balls. And CA factory won't recognize you if you call for help or service.
And the handle quality is always poor.

I messaged lahore, 5x 15000 limited edt. would come in at £130 each ex shipping. Bulk buy is the way to go. Order fedex express and hope for no customs.

Have a 15000 le players a++ (and whatever they chuck on at the end) and its shorter blade. Nice full profile and a massive 10cm wide.. Dont really care too much, as i tend to play harrow/LH bats, but false marketing.
My captain bought 10 5000 from the factory, £40 each incl. shipping, all came in at 2.8-2.10, none weighed under 2.11.
Still, i cannot fault the ping one bit. 3 seasons on, and its still going strong. (Rehandled though)
-
Looks like CA are getting popular... :D
CA makes shorter blade bats because their target players are mostly Asians who are generally not as tall as others but you can get easily longer blades as well, one of my friend who is 6 feet tall has a longer blade CA 10000. Breakage is only due to under preparation (I hate the ready to play stickers and overall look and feel of their massive stickers) but when it comes to performance, I've always found them winner.
Agreed that there is no consistency in bat sizes, shapes (fuller or concave) but if you can get a good one according to your specs ... it will perform, i can assure you.

I went to CA center in chouburgi and checked all those expensive bats and also one players edition 7 star, the grains looked pretty good and it was very light...but I dont know those bats just looked dry ...something was just not right and they were all super expensive...7 star was for Rs.45000...wow
So I decided not to buy anything from CA ;)

Great and very wise decision.
No need to spend THAT MUCH on a CA bat.

While you are in Sialkot, try to stop by at Malik and AS sports factories, just to take a look if they have got anything interesting?
I am sure it won't be Rs 45K, no matter how good is it.
-
@icewolf All the factory stores are near Nirala Sweets in Sailkot. AS,HS & Boom Boom are all in the same block. i got a Players Edition AS for $180 USD or 18000 PKR. Very nice bat which i later sold to my friend.

It was for Rs.45000 mate and after a lot of chit chat they gave me a super discount of Rs.3000 lol...so I didnt buy it.

CA bats are definitely expensive. However they are more expensive than AS and MB because they are better. Yes you can get lucky with AS and MB with some nice sticks (not to say they are not nice- they are very good bats) but generally I have found that CA always 'performs' better. Also there is absolutely no comparison between CA players edition 15000 and AS players edition- AS doesn't come close. The pickup on the players edition is phenomenal and the ping- well I have never seen a CA bat not ping like a gun.
The downside is they do crack easily because they are dry- but I have heard their 7 star bats are not as dry anymore.
-
So are there any shops that sell authentic bats in Lahore? Any shops in liberty or defence? I know about Zaidi sports but I know their shop is always empty with only a few bats...so thats useless.
I think you're back now but some information for you.
Millat Sports in Lahore is very good, they have authentic stuff.
There are no shops which I would trust in DHA, Appollo Sports in H-Block is overpriced so is their Ferozpur Road one.
There is Butt Sports in Liberty under Shezan Bakery along another sports shop but they don't have good stuff.
The CA Sports centre in Choburghi is heavily overpriced.
On my last visit I went to Chaudhry Sports in Panorama Market on Mall Road, they had good stuff and first class cricketers also shop there but then I went with a referral from a PCB employee.
Zaidi Sports has really died, they don't have much stock anymore.

As far CA bat's are concerned in terms of durability and longevity. I have had nearly ten top end CA bats and only one broke at the end due to use which was solely due to terrible balls.
@roco Had a CA bat which was replica of Chris Gayle and what he used in Big Bash few years ago when he was with Sydney Sixers. I got it via Zahid Javed as I knew him.
I have gotten two bats from Nasir Jamshed and they were exceptionally good. Sadly, I did not retain any whilst I should have. Review; http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=31037.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=31037.0)
Recently I had gotten another CA which was used by Haris Sohail in 2015 World Cup, another stunner.
As far AS goes, I had gotten one AS which was made for Aamir Yameen, fantastic bat. Blew me away as I was extremely surprised by it. Again, got it via Waqas Khalid as I know him. Review; http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=36660.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=36660.0)
Last month I ordered top end AS, whilst it costed halve of what CA would charge for their top end, but it picks up extremely well and has a great rebound. A friend is using it in higher division of league where Canadian national team players play.
I had also gotten MB LE directly from MB Malik via MB Malik's owner as I knew him (we haven't spoken in years now) and those bats were replica for Shahid Afridi in 2010/2011. Incredible bats. Review; Can't find it on CBF.
So, despite trying and owning all. I didn't have any bad experience, I don't know if it was because I had contacts with the owners etc. If they were dry, I don't care as they served me/us well so I couldn't care less if they were overdried or not.

CA top end bats (15000 plus, TRD & SM18) are one of best looking & performing bats i have owned and saw others using. Personal experiences can vary but overall i found CA bats to be good performers. If one knows who to properly knock/prepare a CA bat and use it then CA will serve him well.

I have two SM-18s in my quiver and they are gun bats. One of them is over 3 years old and still going great guns! My buddies have bought these bats and rave about them. Some haven't bothered to knock their bats and love the ping and performance. :D My bats were hand picked and it helps. I no longer buy my own bats since I am gullible to marketing hype :D
-
But Rs.45000 for a 7 star means £300...and we could buy a hell4leather and other high quality bats here for that price then why bother buying a CA? lol. Price for a players edition was Rs.26000 last year and this year its 38000...wtf???

7 star is made from low density willow?
I have read great reviews of H4L bats - Warbird has a smaller blade like a CA bat - but I have never used or owned one. Other than that, my CAs perform as well or better than other brands. I reach for my CA as my match bat ahead of Amplus and my Lavers. They simply perform better much early on in their life and with care last as long. I am getting my monies worth with a CA while some of "other high quality bats" are sitting in my closet.

Well, Players Edition got demoted and CA came out with 7 Stars to replace it as a flagship model.

Yes, but what CA does is that they keep on having predecessors.
Five or so years ago CA 12000 Plus was top end.

You mean the same bat that was sold for 26000 last year is going for 45000 this year for no reason at all? hahaha

Nobody is forcing you to buy it. 7 Star is USD 450? Standard price for any good bat these days. You can't get performance for free, you have to pay.

Problem with ca bats is there 1 or 2 bats perform out of 10, rest are dead rubbers keep knocking them will ping pancake.

That is not true!
All 3 of mine ping like gang busters and also other peoples' that I know of.
I can't say the same of other brands even big names like Laver - got one dud.
The thing I find interesting is that CA gets so much unwarranted bad rep on this forum whereas in the real world, its one of handful of brands that are extremely popular.
-
I concur what @InternalTraining said. I have never seen such low percentage of CA bats not performing. Canada's biggest batsman, despite being sponsored by SS where he would get free stuff, he would prefer using CA.

Performance wise i can't argue with you. They don't always last very long (based on the number of repairs i do on them every year) but perform well before they explode into a cloud of sawdust.
If only they could fit handles properly and actually make bats of full size. Currently we have 7 CA bats in the shop mostly for knocking in, 2 for 'rehandles' even though they were brand new in the plastic when they were handed to me, usual suspects to blame here: polyfilla, poor quality/missing rubber springs, one handle with 5 springs for some bizarre reason, bent/twisted handles etc etc.
All have the fully knocked sticker but are as soft as butter, none are the weight the sticker on the shoulder says they are. They are all smaller in overall size than a SH bat, and all are 105mm or narrower in the blade.
-

My main match bat is over 3 years old and sees regular action. Knock on wood, it is still going strong. It is a natural product and I don't expect it to last a lifetime. Having said that I have some other big name bats that I will never use, again, because they just don't perform. I don't have time to knock them or wait a year for them to open up.

Fair comment. I have not seen any handle issues with any of mine. I have 3, 1 heavily used and 2 new. Lot of my buddies have bought CAs and have not complained about the handles.
All have the fully knocked sticker but are as soft as butter,
I don't see this as a problem. I have bats that are pressed like table tops and they look lovely sitting in my closet. I mallet mine till I am satisfied. Again, I have also seen some hard pressed CAs.
none are the weight the sticker on the shoulder says they are.
That's debatable. Could be naked weight or just change in climate. My first two lavers came in at 2 ounce heavier. I have other custom bats that have been over an ounce off in weight despite clear, explicit weight specifications. What should I do about that?
They are all smaller in overall size than a SH bat, and all are 105mm or narrower in the blade.
This would definitely be a problem for a club cricketer. :D Seriously, this criticism should be shared with CA by the dealers to fix the issue. What I am seeing now in the market is that smaller blade bats are popular, H4L Warbird, Newbery Uzi/Blitz (?). Perhaps, standard SH bats are not for everyone? Size disparity is a valid point and CA should address it.
Ok, I get it, it is not a "perfect" product but as long as the bat performs, why do I care about others things? Unfortunately, bat makers and enthusiasts on this forum are over looking the realities of the club cricket market, especially in the US. An average club cricketer is a married male with 1.5 kids who just wants to play cricket on the weekend. They don't have a lot of time to knock bats or go to nets. They want bat performance now (or yesterday) and fast; and, is willing to overlook details that would bother the purists. And, I suspect, that is why CA is so popular.
-
In my opinion it is this desire for instant performance that has forced some makers to produce overdried/soft bats that perform very well, but for a (usually) short period of time before breaking. Every bat is different of course and it's great that your bat(s) last. I am now 'bodging' for want of a better word, broken CA bats that I knocked in this time last year for people, my experience is CA bats just aren't built to last.
If a bat is so soft that it needs the amount of knocking in you talk about; it kind of defeats the instant performance idea. Just buy a properly pressed bat?
The difference between a Warbird or a Mana for example and a CA is that the Warbird/Mana is full size overall, and a CA is not.

This is not meant as some sort of witch hunt against CA. I have used a few and they do perform. But everything else about them is bizarre.
-
Short/narrow blade is fine, if advertised as such! Ridiculous if done to fool the buyer into thinking they're getting a bigger bat.
CAs do have a big bow though ;)
-
Size criticism is fair.
Regarding durability, I have seen some really old ones as well in our league. Again, my evidence is anecdotal and I don't have a large enough sample set to say that bats last longer than other brands. Just my experience.
I don't have any personal connection with the brand, I just feel the performance simply outweighs the criciticms lobbed at these bats. When it comes to product satisfaction (getting my money's worth), CA, Amplus (M&H). , and Lavers are right up there.

Agree with this. I have noted on this forum CA doesn't really get the respect it deserves- this could be because CA bats are much more expensive when sold in England? They are drier than most English or Australian brands. Also generally they are smaller. In my experience I have never seen any CA bat with handle issues- not a single one.
About the debate whether to get a H4L or a CA. I have a Hellfire which I love and my team mate has a Hattori which is also excellent. It took me a whole season to properly open the H4L- it is a quality quality bat!
I used the CA 2 or 3 times with the bowling machine and maybe once in net practice last season. I took it out of the bag this season and it's performance is unreal. It performs better than the Hellfire and the Hattori in my humble opinion without even being used properly. I had a contact at the CA factory so customer service was very easy- I ordered straight from there. For CA 15000 plus it cost me 265 CAD. For that price that bat is monster value for money.
The pros definitely outweigh the cons- I would definitely look into getting one. Right now very interested in the 15000 players edition and the SM profile as well,

I paid USD 370 for 34 30 ruler-straight grains . After some light knocking, my ceiling is in serious danger of damage by a cricket ball! Why would I wait a year for a bat to open up!! Makes no sense to me.
