Love that their followers consist almost entirely, possibly entirely, of CBF members!
-
are we allowed to start getting excited about it now without breaking any rules and regs?
:)
the best batmaker in the business finally gets his own name on his work
dunno about anyone else, im really pleased about this.
he is....the best, or at least if anyone else thinks there's someone better....he is up there with the very best.

Big fan off the stickers myself. But apparently there only a first draft to get some on mr northeasts bats for a tournament keeley thought would never be seen over here.

I await patiently with my wallet.

I hope those are the actual gloves - I like them, I do.

I am keen if this can be arranged. I must have had at least 10 bats from his stable over the years
-

Where is his base/workshop - Sussex?
-
It's in Sussex in the wilderness
I'll see if I can arrange a Friday in may what's best for everyone
-
Christ!! I thought he tried to keep members of the public at arms length if possible. Can you imagine what a stampede of nerds would do for his humour!
-
I'm sure he won't mind if I tell him a gang of people want to come and buy his stuff
-
You cant help thinking this venture is going to go well, and the goodwill over the years has built up for all us how have bought and used his bats.
I hope it's a huge success, it's a crowded market I suppose but there's always room for more it seems.
-
Christ!! I thought he tried to keep members of the public at arms length if possible. Can you imagine what a stampede of weirdos would do for his humour!
Corrected the above for you Bruce 😉
-
Imagine the southern net busters with tons of these
-
How many people are interested in going down there then? I'll have to give him an idea of numbers
-
I'd be interested depending on the date mate!
-
I'd go as been to a fair few on here and gm so would love to see the set up
-
12th may everyone?
-
Be very keen
-
yes would love to come down and meet the Keeley's
-
Yes I be up for the trip and pretty sure @tom line would be as well
-
So at least
@procricket @Bats_Galore @roco @neoncricket @LateBloomer @ppccopener @tom line @simonmay5
-
I'm sure once everyone spots this that list will become quite substantial!
-
If I tell him there's 15 people who want to come and buy a bat from him I doubt he'll be annoyed
-
I'd love to have a ride down! Long way for me though, have to see if I could get a day off!
-
I'll certainly be making the journey if it's possible @Bwcc
-
Where is everyone from by the way
-
Durham
-
I would hold the horses a bit lads I speak regularly with Tim and at this stage he wants to get his Brand 100% right the first time he has not even decided how or where he will be selling his brand . It is fantastic news that his brand will be directly associated with Tim himself but as I know Tim he will not rush this and judging by the response on here he is not going to struggle to find customers
-
quite a journey @JB 😳
-
@GDP1964 I haven't confirmed anything yet as I said I'll speak to him tomorrow and see what he thinks about it, it's about 2 months away I'm suggesting so he might be set up by then
-
You bet it is @Bwcc
-
Please don't get me wrong I am sure Tim will be up for it and as you said it is a while away and no doubt he will be ready for business by then
-
Can you all make sure you take enough photos and have some good write-ups for us guys up north please :D
I'm so jealous of you lot living down south, the world's your oyster when it comes to bat makers and visiting them, @northernboy1987 knows what I mean

If there's no pics then surely it will all be fictional? :) it is hard work living up here sometimes, million miles from anywhere, scenery makes up for it though!
-
@Bwcc - I would like to attend, to bring a bit of class and sanity to the occasion.

Told you - he's like Boo Radley, doesn't like crowds or fuss, and least of all a plague of nerds fondling his tools!!

tom youre in the business. now don't get me wrong, I don't object to paying for my cricket equipment, if I did, I wouldn't have any.I don't particularly like the price of modern day bats but that's just how it is-they are expensive.
but have you ever wondered have great it would be as a pro cricketer for someone to come and ask you to use their bats? and then have a few bats made exactly how you like it. And then for the batmaker to be happy his kit gets advertising?
surely that's got to be a great feeling....and at the top end, actually to get paid for using free kit...
:)
-
Or be such a good batmaker people ask you if they can use your new kit
-

yes.....there is that too. :)

In my experience, it rarely happens that a brand approaches a player out of the blue. Usually, agents sniff around brands seeing what they can get (whether that's kit only, kit + cash, kit+bonuses). No doubt the regular deliveries of free equipment would be quite amazing.
Interestingly, with Sam Northeast I have a feeling he cares about the craftsmanship, seein as he's used Salix, Newbery and now Keeley.

Ah I see.....
Salix sponsored Northest as a junior and all the way thru until he went to Slazenger
One of the first cricketers to use Salix I saw anyway on the TV. I can't off the top of my head remember any others although they made for many pro's underneath the stickers.
-
Tim doesn't seem to have a problem with a group visit down there didn't get a mention of when things will be ready though
-
Can I put my name down as one of the
mob descending on group visiting TK please? :D
-
this thread is awesome.
now and again the forum puts a smile on your face.
-
Before this gets out of hand and I get in trouble as everyone who ever mentions this topic does I haven't got anything to do with Tim and I never intended this to be a 50 man parade into tims gaff playing with his toys
If he sets up his own bit on the side and if he opens his workshop to the public I might ask him then what can be done but I don't have anything to do with him I've just bought a few bats off him before (as has half the forum I assume)
-
He could always charge an entrance fee... I reckon most of the forum would pay £20 to visit Thornden Mills.
-
yes some of us probably would haha :)

don't stress brother it's all cool. if he does lots of us would like to go, if he doesn't that's fine. He's been in the background for years and probably will stay that way
there is a new brand being launched we think...and that's the most important thing :) that we have a new option to buy from.
that's really it
chillax

When it does launch what's the odds at least half the forum will end up as Keeley FKWs?

Kent play Surrey in a pre-season friendly on April 2/3. But I'm not going just to see which stickers Sam Northeast has on his bat.
-
spoke to Tim during the manufacture of bats he made for me really amenable Bloke.
-
Yes, put me down for a forum visit!
-
The twitter account wasn't legit as an fyi.
-
Interesting. It was set up by someone who's in mine, Ayrtek's and Pryzm's phone book.
Guess that narrows it down.
-
What we saying, keyboard warrior maybe on here type?(be in many contacts as a purchaser)
Or
Disgruntled former business aqaunitance trying to cause issues?(be in many contacts as had business with them?)
-
Jake at vitas said the same thing today account was set up by someone in his contacts
-
Did think it was odd the picture was shoddy, and that the only account they followed was Newbery...
-
Twitter account user was also in the IJC phonebook....

Eh up we are back on!! Right where those 10 mini buses we booked :)
Just kidding !!!!
Well....at the risk is stating the obvious and trying to be objective....
I really really like the look of them.
-
Likely to be against the CBF grain, but I really don't like those
Preferred the first versions that were floating around to be honest!
-
they look photo shopped on
-
Speaking to someone close to Tim on FB these aren't the final version as they are awaiting the fully finished Matte/gloss/embossed/textured version I'd imagine.
Sam just wanted something to go on his bats for the Dubai tournament.
-
I live in Dubai and play weekly at the academy that Sam and the rest will be training at. I will kindly request him to show me his TK bat and give you guys the feedback. Wish me luck mates
-
What does the SS stand for? Samuel J S????
-

Is it just me or do the tops of those stickers make the bats look like they're wearing little shirts? And I hope he doesn't fall for the 'more is more' trend and ply the stickers with every texture/colour/finish under the sun.
-
What does the SS stand for? Samuel J S????
A jeweller that sponsors him.
-
slight off topic I know but Sam N has got to have been close to an England call. Prodigy in teenage years maybe will be a late developer and still achieve his potential.
Technically sound and is playing a lot better for Kent these days
-
Bats must perform great as can be expected from a TK but the stickers look horrible to me..the WORX branding doesnt seem easy to say either..
-
Those stickers are genuinely bad. They look like a forum'ites attempt on Microsoft paint. Only saving grace are that the bats look decent.
I hope the service improves. I used to buy from Newbery and didn't especially like dealing with them, and always found them overpriced (£60 for re handle?). Also, my understanding was that he was the first to use a CNC machine in the UK (bought at low cost from Slaz when they decided they didn't want to make in the UK) - is this still going to be the case? He was just finishing the bats as far as I was aware...
-
Also, if Northeast gets an England T20 gig (seems the most likely format, maybe ODI) odds on him taking some cash from a big boy? Got to be pretty high given he previously went with Slaz (who were at one point renowned for giving cash out to mid-level pro players) and you'd be able to get a decent amount at International level - I wouldn't blame him!
-
Newbery couldn't have been the first to use the CNC machine if they bought it from Slazenger?
-
I was led to believe Slazenger ordered the thing, and it was being made up when they pulled the pin and decided to shift all manufacturing elsewhere (i.e., they never used it). This meant that Keeley/Newbery were able to buy it at a super knock down price. My understanding was they used it to shape all their bats, some of which were then possibly finished by hand.
-
Unfortunately they remind me of Lekka stickers.
-
Stickers are terrible and from the pictures the bats look ok, no different to many average bats seen on the forum. TK has a great reputation but if he wants to compete as a commercial brand against some of the other specialist shavers he will have to raise his game. That's not to say they don't play brilliantly though.
-
Unfortunately they remind me of Lekka stickers.
Sadly I agree......
-
Controversial!

Not a fan, look like something thrown together without any real thought taken over the branding. TK might be well known to us but he's a total unknown to the majority of the cricket community so without strong branding he won't have any more chance than every other start up.
Real shame as I'm sure the bats will play brilliantly if TK's reputation is anything to go by (never used one personally but rarely hear a bad word!)
-
New stickers look considerably better! Did that forum trip to his workshop happen in the end?
-
I like em.
-
A lot better than his last stickers
-
I actually like them much much better than the first lot
-
Definitely an improvement on the first batch. Liking the branding tbh!
-
I like the first lot !!! :)
until these bats are available to buy I really honestly cannot get my season going at all.
ive never had one but I just know these are the answer
-
I'll just leave these here...

He's wearing a Kent kit if that helps.
-
yes, he's been playing in county cricket this season.
-
Any further info/insider news on when these might be available for general public to buy..
-
I like the kings crown on the bat.
-
Having visited Tim and Nick recently I got the impression that not a lot will be available this season they are still working on Decals ,Softs, Bags Bat shapes Names Models who will sell where it will be sold etc etc .My opinion all will be ready for next season with a product launch towards the end of this Season
-
That design looks miles better than the last incarnation - will be interesting to see the final versions! Look good.
-
Yasir Shah.
-
Whose team room is this? I ask because there is an official PCB/CA trolley case in the background. Looks old school....
The case is called Wheelicase ... made/owned by the Netherlands team manager. A lot of guys (like chris gayle) and a few international teams are kitted out by them . I looked into it because the cricket coffin sized case is awesome , but you have to buy a 3 case set ( cricket coffin , large suitcase size , carry on luggage size ) and at over $600au it just wasn't worth it . They do personalize the cases though , with names , club logos etc which is a nice touch .

Top-end bat has an RRP of £550

330!!!
Worlds gone mad
Pop down to Kent and get a stunner from Salix or H4L, and a night out for that
-
These prices are kwazay!!! :D
I am so glad I stocked up on bats before prices went ape-poo. Its kwazay!! :D
-
Annnnnnnd I’m done
Any cheaper sports out there?
-
With this price, I would expect it to score runs on its own.
-
It is all Newbery's fault. Had they kept Keeley brothers happy, they wouldn't have gone out on their own. Now, with their own branding, they have a right to charge an arm-and-a-leg because so many pros use their bats!
-
What would it take to bring the prices of cricket bats down to a reasonable level?
Pro-grade bats? USD 350
Grade-1 Elite-LE? USD 300
Grade-1 Pro-Semi LE? USD 250
Grade-2 Performance-Ugly Betty? USD 200
Grade-3 Easily-Persuaded-Young-Cricketer? USD 150
I would call these prices reasonable. Now, how do we get there from the insanity where we reside? Some of these clefts cost under USD 200!!!!

A no-deal Brexit might bring them down to those prices.
In all seriousness, manufacturing (or at the very least growing the willow) in England and then requiring a middle-man (retailer) to sell the goods is the reason why bat prices are so high.

But then again the consumers saving is that the boutique doesn't have the same overheads as a retailer
-
they are priced high, because people ARE buying and paying up.
-
During my time on the forum, everyone always wants a bat to be TK made and many swear by the quality of his craftsmanship. With his great reputation and skill, why can't he be charging top dollar for his bats? I have never personally used one of his bats, but would be inclined to just by the raving reviews I have read over the past few years on the forum.
Good luck to him and I hope his own brand does well.

Your G2 & G3 pricing seems reasonable for an UK made bat. However all the G1 & Pro's won't come to that cost for sure. SS Gladiator made in India is sold at a minimum of $450 to $500 by Indian retailers.

Aren't Keeleys selling these directly?
-
But the same bats when sold under other boutique brand stickers have a lower price.
Boutique in most cases means bedroom/side business which sells direct. Therefore they can survive on slimmer margins and can undercut.

Looks like a beautiful bat @Sivlar13, best of luck with it.
I'm interested that it's over sized to the new regs. Did you spec that, or choose it from stock?
-
Another beauty from the master.
-
Yes lovely bat
I’ve seen some prices on the romida website and in comparison to some I thought they were very reasonable
-
Looks a lovely bat and I'm sure it will go well. However, the branding needs more work in my view.
-
I agree, I'm sure the bats are as good as all TK made ones but the brand itself leaves a fair bit of room for improvement for the moment.
-

Going to see if I can switch the stickers with the other ones, as I prefer the simpler ones!

I have seen the bat, and tapped it up and can confirm that @Sivlar13 has another got with this TK :o
-
Just my ten cents. I went into my usual cricket shop in SE London where I saw several Keeley bats. I went in to look for some inners but came out half-hoping my current bat would give way soonish!
The blades themselves were stunning, from the grains to the profile to the pickup. I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of most of the Keeley stickers. However, you will see on page 9 that they have a model with a white grip and rather simplistic stickers. I did see that one there alongside a similar one in blue, both of which I prefer to the other stickers in the range.
I'm not going to pretend to be much of a bat connoisseur but it's been a long time since I picked up blades as good as these!

I'm not going to pretend to be much of a bat connoisseur but it's been a long time since I picked up blades as good as these!
Hi Tim, welcome to the forum! :D
-
TK !!!!
Blooming Nora what a start to 2018
:)
Now then why are you so mysterious ?
Is it the beard?
-
Hopefully have my Keeley in the next few days to share with you guys
-
Hi Tim, welcome to the forum! :D
Haha, unfortunately I'm not Tim - was just giving my honest thoughts on the bats! Wouldn't mind being able to make my own bats though. Look forward to seeing your photos, SoulMan.
-

I've seen it Chris, tapped it up and it's a very good stick. You will love it, just perfect for you ;)
-
Just my ten cents. I went into my usual cricket shop in SE London ...
Which shop in SE London did you go to?
-
Beckenham Cric Specialists and Cook and Matthews stock them...
-

The former. I've just realised someone else uses the username 'cricketbadger' here so perhaps that's why suspicion has been aroused. Just a long-term followed of CBF but only recently made an account. I can assure you all I'm not at all here to flog cricket gear à la the Grade One Cricket incident a few months back.

Hi,
Does anyone know the difference between a Keeley and a Keeley Worx bat? I have noticed you can get them in the same grade so assuming it has got something to do with profile.
Thanks.

One has bad stickers and the other has really bad stickers I think!

Personal opinion mate as I think the Worx stickers are really good branding and colour options
-
I am seriously considering going FKW in Keeley gear this year, the softs look gorgeous and the bats speak for themselves. A trip to @Uzi Sports beckons

Have got some very nice Keeley's bats
-
The superior gloves are the most comfortable I’ve ever worn
-
Tuned into the NZ v Pak T20 to see Ahmed Shehzad using a Keeley bat and the plain white Keeley gloves!
-
i thought that was keeley gear he was using, couldnt get a clear view, he certainly was hitting it alrite
-
Those all white gloves look very nice
-
Picked up this yesterday as was down to only one bat having as a clear out
Went to a little shop in Kent
They had at least 15+ in stock and I tried most but settled on this one
2lb9oz one horrible yellow grip
Finished really well feather light pick up
7ish grains
Grade 3
Tried more expensive ones in higher grade but this just felt really good

Has a bit but think gauge really exaggerates it
-
Lovely bat. I hope it does well for you.
-
Looks a good stick, best of luck with it.
Also, very generous grading for that to be a Grade 3. That looks right up my street! :)
-
Grade 3 looks excellent!
-
Price of a shop bought G3?
-
£200
-
Looking at what you've received I think that is a very fair price
-
Stick a white grip on that and it will look great.
-
£200
How is the ping?
I take my lovely Keeley to nets (with old balls of course :D) and I just can't get over how it sounds. Its amazing!! :D
PS: I am very impressed by the pressing, I did very little mallet work and I am finding toe is holding up well.
-
Good response initially
it’s just had white grip and bat waxing today
The pressing on tk bats is very good imo certainly seems to get the best out of the willow in whatever grade
-

They also feel very nice in hands. Mine is 2-11+ with single grip, anti-scuff sheet, and no stickers. It feels so light.

@fromthehip
Looks a stunner for a grade 3 bat

Tuned into the NZ v Pak T20 to see Ahmed Shehzad using a Keeley bat and the plain white Keeley gloves!
And you will notice how he has signed up with MB Malik now.
So, basically there is a story to that as well (as why he signed with Keeley brand).
Not sure if anyone is really interested in knowing that.

Funnhy how just changing the colour of the grip can make a bat look so much better!
And agree with everyone else that the grains look impressive for a G3!!! :o
-
I am interested. What happened?
So, having worked with him. Ahmad Shahzad knew that he would not possibly play in T20s as they would select Umar Amin, so he opted for a Keeley deal (because he wanted Keeley bats, he tried prior to it and was impressed) which just had free gear as opposed to MIDS or MB Malik, but he got ample stuff for gratis to cover that for himself not just for New Zealand series but following series too and then when PSL came, he signed up for MB Malik which pays.
-
^ Wow! Lucky man. Gets Keeley gear for free and plays international when he is a good club level batsman. :D
Why does keep showing up in the Pak team? Why hasn't he pursued his acting/hamburger commercial career?

LoL. He has never justified his talent. I did like him when he started off.

@fromthehip you have a very nice looking bat. I love the shape.

so with the season fast approaching - who will be using a Keeley this year then?

You should be a little more precise...
Who will be using a keeley bat with Keeley branding

I've got a keeley with keeley stickers @edge which I will be using for the first time tomorrow. Could definitely be the number 1 match bat this year!
And lol on the selling of the bat that's just been reviewed on here!

There’s 2 TK made bats on EBay I see that are a good price, they look absolute belters. Going to wait until the auction goes down to a couple of days and start bidding;

What sort of weights were they @thedon ?
-
I would say 2 lb 10oz+. Had about 6 in total. They werent labelled though
-
.??
I also popped in to vks yesterday ,,I had a job to visit on the same road in Ealing
Very nice set up, decent selection
Had a look at the Keeley bats,,how much!!
A serious amount of money
Picked up some adidas trousers , so glad I was in the area
-
are they worth the money though do we think? having held a few the pickups are excellent and they really are stunning to look at. But £450-550?
-
I didn't tap a ball on one, but even if they tapped up better than any bat I've ever seen, I'd still only pay 250 max
-
The Keeleys I saw at Romida Leatherhead were Grade 3's I think, £200, but the grading was generous, in line with many peoples G2's in my humble opinion. They picked up really well and tapped up great until the man took the mallet away from me!

were you being abit heavy handed Brucie?
Its a hard one isnt it on price - as it has been mentioned a number of times already - but if he is being considered "the best" then now he has his own brand why not charge top whack! If people are prepared to pay it then so be it.
-
Absolutely
In my opinion he's definitely up there as one of the best
Just clouds his brand a little by the fact others sticker up the same bats
-

I can second this, some of their G3s were better than other brands G2s and their G2s better than other brands G1s. Also, as said, they all tapped up brilliantly. I would say that the price is probably fair enough as they were just as good or even better than a lot of other bats at each price point.

Glad you were able to to pop in. The Keeley bats certainly do tap up well, judging from the first few that we've had in.

I guess the presumption with Keeley bats is that they will get the pick of them before sending anything to labelling companies.
-
The infinity's at vks looked half decent too!!!
-
How much are Keeley's then?
-
Their top offering are around the £500 mark

out of interest has anyone got or seen the Keeley Worx pads or gloves? the white ones (not sure if there is a difference between the blue and white expect the colour) seem abit more reasonable than the superior pads

Many Pakistan batsmen use Keeley bats.
One Pakistan batsman is now using a Kranzbulher bat. My claim to fame is that I used it in the nets before it wound up with that guy! :D
-
I’m sure I saw Harinath using one for Surrey today on Instagram

I think they look interesting too, they have 9 canes instead of the standard 7 like most others. Would like to see what they look like in real life as pictures aren't great

No, was using SF. Gareth Berg pictured using Keeley on BBC site.

Wearing the worx softs too from what I could see

Personally I like that sticker and grip set up. Looks like quite a few are joining the Keeley stickered revolution but I imagine manu have been using him for years
-
I don’t understand why so many different colours lol not keen on the ones Ravi decided on lol
-
Not my favourite grip choice. Personally only think White grip looks good with their stickers. I know they’re looking to simplify some of the stickers in terms of less mix of colours etc...
-
yes it would make sense it sort of confuses things - what shape/model it is etc
Personally only like the Blue in that design - really really like the Superior stickers tho in blue or white
-
Seems to have a number of Hampshire players on the roster now
Also growing in shops carrying them
Has anyone else bought a new Keeley bat or softs for the season?
-
Can anyone point me to the direction who can I approach for a custom Keeley bat?
-

Asad @Uzi Sports is your man.
-
Quite a lot of county pros, generally, seem to have got Keeley sponsorship. Noticed Bopara pictured still in SS softs though a few weeks back. Maybe he swopped them now?
-
There will be a load more pros using Keeley next summer, Ravi will be one.
On the customer Keeley, the question is really what stickers you want...!
-
Good news @Buzz i am getting lots of questions with my keeley kit “who’s keeley?” Never heard of them haha I have to explain a lot lol

Most of the PAKISTANI PRO PLAYERS are using Keeley especially MB sponsors

It's a fair point to make. I'd be concerned personally if I used Keeley as a supplier but then the % of bats being sold as 'Keeley' compared to the white label brands will still be minimal I would've thought.
It's worth mentioning that it's a system that works for many other bat makers and brands (B3/H4L/Kippax/Hunts etc), so I see no reason it'll really change things in this instance either - especially with the number of bats that come out of Sussex!
-

What sort of scale are Kippax and H4L were doing this on?
-
You probably won't say with both being forum sponsors?
-
Good point on the % likely to carry the Keeley sticker and overall small drop in the ocean of bats coming out of there
Is the sticker worth the £200+ premium? If another brand can come up with the bat you ask for from Keeley I know where my money would be going :)
The stickers are veeeery nice though ;)
And other people make very good bats.

Nail on the head. Quite frankly if you want a Keeley, why on earth would you not just buy a bat from Tai!
The Keeley pricing is a little baffling but then it's designed for the retail market rather than direct hence the higher RRPs, at the end of the day if people are willing to pay up then they'll keep charging.
-

Because of what I suggested about him keeping his own work for his own brand.
I find the whole thing a bit of a turn off, to be honest.
-
I was in a shop once where the assistant used car makers as an analogy to a mother, who came in with her young son to buy a bat.
What I can vaguely remember:
Hunts County were like VW - Solid and dependable
Salix were like a luxury car brand ie Mercedes
they had some Kippax bats in.. cant remember what he said about them...
Made me think what would he describe Keeley as...? The fact they seem guns for hire, making for so many brands...
-
Dont be sucked in to all the mythical magic stuff around putting a bat together. If you specify what you want to BB and they deliver then where are you missing out?
Or, even better, someone using their own name?
-

Blokes, eh?
-
I'm out, I have no idea what you are on about
Okay.
-
Its not the first instance in history where a batmaker makes bats for other brands as well as have his own brand. Suggesting that the batmaker would reserve the best for his own brand and pass the less inferior ones to others is poor.
Regarding the pricing etc., honestly, away from this forum how many people would really have all this information when buying a bat? All people care about is budget, brand, look, feel, ping; in that order. An average guy will buy a Keeley bcos he has seen 'X' player play with it on TV or if he heard from a friend that the brand makes wonderful bats.
-
Even if they did cherry pick the very best for their own brand what % of all bats the sell is that sub 5% I'd guess. I'd be surprised if that had a noticeable effect on what they supply white label.
They also cannot afford to sour relationships with their white label customers, who would presumably let them know if the quality suddenly dropped off for the same price.
-

Oh, the irony!
-
without going out to the middle how does he know which are the best performing ... surely its just aestetics he will keep aside fro himself? Straight 12 grains etc .... which doesn't mean it will play superbly or better than an 8 grain wobbly thing.
-
^ that's true. Bat buying process is a crap shoot.
-

My grade 3 match bat would concur with this... bearing in mind I have access to a plethora of top grade bats.
Had a really good comment on Facebook the other day that I'm definitely stealing for some upcoming advertising:
"Brains before grains"
-
If TK is keeping all the crackers for himself and not dishing them out they'd be the best performing bats anyone had ever seen, as every Blank Bat I've used or seen has gone like the clappers. TK's own must be something else if he's keeping the cream for himself. Or he's not and just makes great bats all round which I suspect is the case.
If you want a TK made bat just get a @Blank Bats and be done with it, you won't regret it. Tai is a top guy to deal with too.
-
If you watch the Antiques Roadshow Newbery thing, TK tests two bats with a mallet and rates one above the other.

So, potentially, he could keep one; and pass the other on?
-
So just a serious question.
Can anyone claim they've had a bad Keeley bat (no matter what brand stickers on it)? I don't recall seeing a single bad review of bat that was truly made by them, which kind of boggles the mind.

Had a newbery kudos sps from few years ago when TK was supposedly still making them. While the ping was phenomenal, the shoulders were quite thin, and the bat broke near the handle/shoulder in about a month of use. Would certainly classify that as a bad bat considering the design.
-
Probably the bit at the other end of the handle.
Not in the slightest, Hales would have struggled to get it off the square with that one

Had a newbery kudos sps from few years ago when TK was supposedly still making them. While the ping was phenomenal, the shoulders were quite thin, and the bat broke near the handle/shoulder in about a month of use. Would certainly classify that as a bad bat considering the design.
I have seen loads go like that BB had several issues with the bats going in that area.
Looks to be sorted now though

I've had two dozen, only one was less than very good.

Do you know what they did to fix that - Any noticeable difference? Something like thicker shoulder or a different handle ?

Widened the gaps between the shock absorbers in the handle.

Ah so thats where the extra few hundred quid comes from!!! Thanks for clearing this up!
-
cork and not a rubber inserts in the handle ... forum goes wild with questions.
-
The old bats the shoulders were thinned to get the weights down and handles Were too thick for the shoulders. From what I have seen of late they have combatted this with thinner handles and thicker shoulders
-
^ Do you know how long ago this change was made?
I have a Keeley (newbery blitz shape) that has normal (not thick/not thin) shoulders and cork insert handles not as wide as Buzz's. I got it 1.5/2 years ago.

Wrong!

I've seen both (and other) types of handle on a wide variety of Keeley made bats.

I suspect my bat predates the change.
