Just received it to add to my kit for this year.
It weights 2lb 7oz.

Looks very nice!

How much did you get it for?

Indoor nets haven't even started and I've changed my mind about twelve times as to which bats out of the (ever growing) collection are going in the kit bag for this season.

Only decision for sure is that the heavier bats will probably be confined to midweek T20s as I'm trying to force myself to play properly this year and make a proper go of batting further up the order.

For sure, it looks like 2lb 9oz but genuinely weight 2lb 7oz.
You can call it a genuine bargain! 👍

Hahaha Jim, I'm sure you're gonna rethink on the weight thing! Preferably 2oz lighter 😀😀

Just for comparison, Vapour is bigger bat than Predator.
One thing is common, they both have large hitting area, being low middle bats, which I think is going to be very useful here up in North weather and wickets.

No new kit this year. That's at least the goal. Cov years have lead to a bit too much kit laying around.

Am just waiting for a delivery before I can take my kit pictures...
Although nothing massively exciting.

My son now has better kit than me!

As it should be 😅 I'm sat with 6 bats and more ordered, meanwhile my old man (if he ever gets fit enough to play again) uses a Gray Nics from before I was born.

I feel that pain.
I have just started coaching hockey again and my stick is older than the kids I am coaching... 😭 I had bought a stick more recently, but my son pinched it.

That's the whole point of buying new bats, massively exciting!
This is actually our time of life, to buy bats etc, if you know what I mean...

Yep it's clearly essential that I have 3 bats for league games, 4 for midweek plus a net bat. That's the only thing standing between me and a 50 average...

I do not need more bats, I do not need more bats!!!

This is probably my lot for 2022… there are others in the house however that I pretend are owned by my sons

I’m also a sucker for unbranded softs.

Hi mate, lovely kit, where are the unbranded softs from?

I bought a load of large mens test pads & large mens sausage gloves from OLS.
They come out as standard U.K. size rather than small mens.

I use lots of different bats, this means I don’t have to worry about whether they match

That's a proper set of kit there. Very jealous of anyone who's close enough to go visit a batmaker but especially when they come away with kit like that.

Thanks, it was a great visit and lucky that the Keeley family allow people to come to the workshop, rather than just sell through retail outlets. Particularly so, given that some low life scumbag stole a bat while visiting a few days before my trip.

One of those trips that's on the cricket badger bucket list!

Here is the 2022 kit, same is 2021 with a new cleft picked out ready to be shaped up when I get time in between customers orders and day job and family.

Really impressed with the softs, especially the gloves as stood up really well from last season and will certainly do me the first half of this season which I can’t remember the last set that I was able to do that with.

Got one or two others that I bet with on occasion but this will be the match kit for the coming season.

Yes the Garrard gloves replaced some Chase FLC ones and have been really good so far. Great quality.

I've seen them sell some butterfly bats through social media but didn't look for any when I was there. Before visiting, I would suggest sending an email asking about butterfly stock to avoid any disappointment.

@SurreySam, great looking kit! Is that bag a new model?
Thanks, I asked that question when I saw it in a different colour scheme.  Apparently they get small size orders in and see how they sell before deciding to release into their product line-up or not. This one has pro division (which I'm certainly not) printed on the front, so imagine their sponsored players also help develop/test products.  I will try do a review next week on it, as I'm really pleased with it.

It's actually an Ibis not sure on the grade but its a big bat.

I went to see Hanif at eclipse all sports a few weeks ago with the intention of picking up a MRF wizard. I ended coming away with his bat from last season 😂

Got to clean mine up for nets Olin Tuesday as wrestled one back from our overseas and want to round off the square toe on the other as well.

Skyer has had a new body made too as the last one was cracked from being used as a bat by the plonkers at my club 😆

I do not need more bats, I do not need more bats!!!

This is probably my lot for 2022… there are others in the house however that I pretend are owned by my sons

I’m also a sucker for unbranded softs.

@t2ylo  - loving the dropped shoulders on the Garrard - very reminiscent of the Newberry TT - are all their bats like that?

Turns out there were slightly more bats in the “owned by the kids” pile than I expected

Ooooh @t2ylo  - you cheeky monkey!!!  Are you able to reveal the origin of the Quantock 2nd from left bat - or it's specs?

The one I've got from them is, and more widely they do seem to be.

My bats for the season, it will probably be the 2 DSC's that go in the bag. Just waiting my new duffle then I'll post a full kit photo.

How’re you finding the dsc bats, heard a lot of good things about them!

2lb 9oz SS made - couple of years old now and it plays lovely.

Nice looking sticks, what's their weights and how are they pressed?

2.13.5 and 2.14 respectfully. Shorter blade so picks up nicely indeed.

Reece does seem to make a very nicely balanced bat, I'd picked up a shorter blade BTC from eBay and despite being heavier than I usually use it does pick up very nicely.

Really impressed with them to be honest, first Indian bats I've had but really like them. The lower grades seem great value for money.

Compared to some of the kit on here, mine pales in comparison. But things like batting pads, gloves and boots I do try to use until they're falling apart simply because it's when they're at their comfiest imo. I wish I had more bats, but we've just had our first child and so budget is tight. Currently it is a one in and one out scenario. I had to sell my Chase Volante R11 from 2020 to pay for the new Charlie French.

Newbery Axe Kit Bag
Left Bat - Charlie French Broadside (2022) *currently preparing
Middle Bat Left - Gunn & Moore Striker Original (1980s) *to be refurbed as a spare bat this season
Middle Bat Right - Salix Fera G1 (2010)
Right Bat - B3 Custom One Stripe Butterfly (2019) *snapped at splice and dead as of a few weeks ago unfortunately, will take into B3 soon
Leg Pads - Newbery Test (2017)
Gloves - Chase FLC (2019)
Thigh Guards - Kookaburra
Helmet - Masuri (2008)
Spikes - Adidas

Changes / additions before start of season:

Received it yesterday, was wanting to try B&S, it's 2lb 11oz.
With its low middle it still doesn't feel bottom heavy. Very much impressed with it.
Putting me in the dillema of using this one vs lighter bat

Of course I will be using a Stealth Bat - F22 2'9 (https://stealthcricket.com/product/stealth-f22-cricket-bat/ (https://stealthcricket.com/product/stealth-f22-cricket-bat/))and I was hoping to have some Stealth kit but with all the trouble surrounding importing softs into the UK I have no idea what to use!

Very little change to my kit again this year... Might be something of a record to have the same kit for so long, but I haven't seen anything better so I will keep using this...

Oh and this is way too much GN. 😂

GN300 duffle.
Pro performance pads
Prestige gloves
Other gn gloves x2.
GN test thigh pad
Asics strikerate spikes
Masuri lid. (new this year, has a ti grille from my old lid.)

4 bats,
BB Hulk bat, retired now, but looks so good after its refurb...
Indian Colt bat which GN rehandled for me
Chase butterfly
Keeley butterfly (which my elder son is rather keen on "borrowing")

Talking of my son, his kit is all vks, plus the same lid as me and a stunning keeley...

Choice Custom - has been my match bat for a very long time now
Keeley Worx - This should be my new match bat I hope

Pads - Neon and Willow & Wand

Gloves - Willow & Wand and Unbranded hybrids - the new W&W gloves feel amazing can't wait to try these.

Keeping gear - Hunts County Players Gloves and Pads

Other - Club Duffle, Strettons/P2's, Spiked Reeboks and Asics Trainers, Masuri Vision Ti Helmet

Are the W&W pads slightly larger than the Neons or is that just the angle? Keeley looks very nice as well, bit of character in it too.

Yes the W&W Pads are a bit bigger.

The Keeley has some heartwood and blemishes but nothing major in the areas that matter. I like a bat with a bit of character as you say, my Choice has some Heartwood on it.

I think the 32.2 is the Shan Masood shape with 2mm of concaving - could be wrong!

Big fan of your kit mate, are the chase and B3 based on this GM?

How’d you find the yellow GM grips, interested to hear your thoughts?

Thank you!

They aren’t actually - the B3 came first, then the Chase, then the GM (which i liked as it was similar to the B3). The Chase has a much lower middle and serves mainly as my option for slower and lower wickets/slower bowlers. The GM actually has a couple of modifications to bring it closer to the B3, including a bit of medical tape to oval up the handle and the handle being shortened slightly by having the top cut down and replacing the weight/feel with some additional grip rings. I thought long and hard about doing the latter, but it is such a ridiculous gun that I’m never selling it, so decided not to worry about resale value!

I really like the GM matrix grips - they are nice and soft, grippy and not too thick. I did have all three bats fitted with Hex grips, but when I got the new Garrard gloves (which have different palms than the B3s) I found that i preferred the feel of the matrix grip in that glove/grip combo.

What are the specs on that b3?

Pretty big! It’s not far off max edge, spine is 63/64 and the shoulders are huge which is the main reason I like it so much I think, just picked it up and it felt like a wand. The middle extends almost all the way to the stickers (I think as there is a lot of wood left high in the bat) although there isn’t too much low down because of the duckbill. It is also a short blade/standard handle set up (i.e. not short blade long handle), so it is just about harrow length overall but with an adult handle (I have mine on the slimmer side, but not as thin as a standard junior handle).

It is 104mm width though, as it’s technically a junior bat - this is what let them hit the weight at those specs. It has never bothered me to be honest and my rationale is that if I’m hitting it with the outside 2mm it’s an edge anyway so I’m better off missing it!

I am pretty sure the 31.2 is the Shan shape and the 32.2 is their Root interpretation (which became the Maverick). I think the 31.2 has a lower middle and doesn’t have the thick shoulders of the 32.2.

Someone I know, bought GM Noir 808, 2lb 10oz, but never got in terms with it as a power hitter, sold it on. It might have been it's weight lower down.

Think I’m now done with my 2022 kit… Still possible I will add some remfry or M&H thigh pads and maybe a new pair of spikes - but pretty much there!

Match Kit:
Helmet: Club Masuri OS2 Titanium
Thigh Pads: Strettons
Gloves: JN Garrard x2 (thanks to @SurreySam for the idea here!)
Pads: Phantom Limited 2021
Bag: B3 D145 Wheelie Duffle

Bats:
GM Dan Lawrence Player Edition (2lb 9oz)
B3 Custom 2 stripe 32.2 (2lb 7oz)
Chase FLC SSH (2lb 8oz)

Cool, glad sharing some info on here helps others out.

Lovely kit, would probably be comfortable using it all myself as I've got similar taste.

Shan had two shapes. His latest was the Root / 32.2 shape, which is now the maverick.

With an email being sent out from my cricket club this morning saying nets start next week, I thought I had better get my kit ready for the coming season which naturally, led to getting everything out in the garden for a photo shoot for the forum!

Having ran my own little side business for a number of years, I made a decision at the end of last season to treat myself to a number of items that in the past, I perhaps would not have used.

My kit for the coming season:

Bats
Softs

Having worked with a number of manufacturers in India / Pakistan over the last 3 years, I built up a handy little book of contacts and when one of them got back in touch to update me on their cricket ball manufacturing capabilities, conversation progressed onto me making an order for some plain softs. The pads and gloves feel fantastic and I was particularly impressed with some of the finer detailing that I had requested.

I also have a set of my NHS gloves leftover which are in the bag for their second season, but I am yet to be be brave enough to wear them onto the field.

Luggage

After using a traditional duffle bag for a number of seasons, I wanted to treat myself to a coffin. Facebook marketplace turned out to be a god send as I managed to find a full touring coffin, complete with wheels and 3 bat slots, all for under 3 figures.

All in all, I have far too much kit for a bloke who is average at best but I cannot wait to get going this year.

Enjoy!

Yeah it's a bit more complicated than normal when uploading an image. You need to upload it to postimages website, then when writing a reply there's an "insert image" icon, click that and copy and paste the direct image link between the two brackets it gives you.

Two net bats and two match bats is the current plan.
B3 and Chase for the nets and the Affinity and Atomic for match days. Despite the different weights and shapes they all feel right in your hands.
Turns out the B3 has been though a few pairs of CBF members hands before I gotten hold of it.
A guy at All Rounder offered to clean up the Chase bat. He was quite offended when I said no. These battle scars are hard earned mate.

And a cheap but nice enough titanium Albion.

Other than a new Neon wheelie duffle which looks great, softs and other gear is all the same for this season.

Bat collection has been reduced down to something a bit more manageable but still going to be a hell of a job picking out one match bat...

- Worker Bee Pathfinder: 2 lbs 11, low middle, slow low pitch bat.

And just for good measure, because I lost my Ayrtek Hybrid Sweatband at winter nets before I could even use it... a few home-made efforts!

Grade 2 Scott and the salix were used in matches last season.
Chase and GN have been used for a few nets sessions.

Both pairs are very comfortable. There is a huge difference in quality of spiking between the two; I would recommend Cheshire Shoe Repairs.

Chunky looking handles on the bats @Thorne_Cricket - lots and grips and massive hands?

Also, the butterfly bats being 20 years old, are they not showing any sign of coming to an end?

I have applied counter balances (grips cut down to 1") to the top of the handles (8 on the Platinum); they are all fitted with 2 grips; from left to right, 1st grip/2nd grip; Neon Pink Octopus/Neon Pink Octopus Plus, Psychedelic Camouflage Players Matrix Lite/Psychedelic Camouflage Players Matrix Lite, White Octopus/Neon Pink Players Matrix, White Octopus/Neon Pink Scale, White Octopus/White Hex 3D. I had carpal tunnel surgery in February of this year on my right hand/wrist and wear tubagrips on both of my wrists, with my high bat lift, my right hand (bottom hand as I am a right handed batter) does not grip the bat as much as my top hand.

Warsop refurbished both the butterfly bats in 2021 and they were amazed that they were in such a good condition, considering they had not been used for almost 9 years. They are both fantastic bats and I would not get rid of them. I purchased another Warsop off eBay and refurbished it myself and have put my own stickers on it which I will use for indoor cricket.

The bat was good. Worth the money you pay. If you're lucky enough, you can get it with the Older mrp.
