Very strange first league game of the season today. Drive to the meeting point as we were away, as I get there I get a text from the skipper to say game's off. Drive home, empty car of kit and 5 mins later I get a call to say game's back on - so we get to the ground after meeting....again and start half an hour late.

Performance wise, we bat first on a wicket that only got covered at 9am that morning with a tarpaulin. The wicket is soft on top and rock hard underneath which has their opening bowlers whizzing the ball through at head height off the pitch - an absolute minefield. Wickets come and go and I go in at 5 and hit 70 in around 15 overs and am out in the penultimate over of the innings but very pleased with my knock as I am trying to cement a place in the 2's. Used my RB Paradox LE for the first time in a game today and it is so so good and is getting even better all the time.

We end up on 194-9 according to the scoreboard. The oppo start their innings and the 1st innings score on the board shows 195 but no-one from either team queries it. It ends up coming down to the last ball and the oppo need 3 from the last ball to get 196 but they only get 2 and they are 9 down as well resulting in a tie. When it comes to copying up each others books it's noticed that we only scored 194 so have lost the game - gutted. In the end both skippers re-check the books and it ends up that we had only scored 193 and the oppo had only scored 193 according to their book and after long discussions it is agreed that it is a tie. Had to field the last 10 overs in near darkness as well!

Moral of the story: find a good independent scorer.

Strange game aswell today. Opened the batting, creamed the first 3 balls of the match for four, then got knocked over by a jaffer for 18 off 9 balls :( we then collapsed to 40-4, then recovered to a near impossible 273 in fairly wet conditions.

Reduced the oppo to 90-5, they then got as close as 260-6, but then fell 10 runs short of our total at 263-8. Great game, first win in the first game, BOOM!

We got put in to bat against our local rivals and posted 217. I went in at 3 and put on 168 with our opener before falling for 65 3overs from the end. We had them 50 for 3 after 20overs before the heavens opened.

Lost all respect for umpires in our game today!!!  Bowled the oppo out for 134, and then had a revised target of 89.  We were 86 for 5 with 4 overs to go and it started to rain - the umpires then spent 5 minutes chatting about whether to continue before taking us off!!!!  Result = abandoned game and an absolute joke!!

The oppo were awful as well slowing the game right down and then celebrating as though they had won the game!!  All rather embarassing for the umpires and them....

Got a call at 11.30. You're supposed to be playing 3rds  (for new club, never played for them before).

Errr, thanks for letting me know earlier. I've hired kit and am currently sanding my floors :( no chance and it was brilliant conditions for seam/swing bowling :(

Doesnt sound very organised, who was that for?

Got put in on a bowler friendly track, we scored 193 all out. I got an average boosting 14 (yes that's right) and played an average shot when I should have been a bit more disciplined. My timing was way off and I did my team a favour getting out, I went to cut a short ball through point and hit it in the air through straight mid off for 4. :-[
Our opening bowlers turned up this week and did their job. Took 3 early wickets and the opposition dribbled to 104 all out.
