we got half of a game in today playing against Jenko's "new" team, got through our 40 overs batting got 228, with myself getting 15 in the outing of my new bat, should have got more :(.

had a cracking tea, then bowled 8 or so overs of their innings before we stopped playing due to the rain of them of score 40 for 1 with Jenko starting to get going.

Was awesome conditions for a game of cricket hey mate!! Was good to see a H4L in the flesh, and a refreshing change to all the salix's being used by your team - your club sponsored by them or something??? That bloke who opened for you can obviously hit a ball haha glad to get him out.

Got one wicket from 7 overs and was stranded on 16* before the rain became too much.

well one of the guys on our team works for salix so he can get the salix gear cheap so most of us have got some gear, i currently have my willostix getting refurbed. yeah our opener can certainly hit a ball, he got 142* of 57 balls a few weeks ago against high halstow so you got lucky!

Quite angry today... >:(
Just been told I've gone from batting 3 in the 3s to batting 7 in the 3s this week. :(
2 bad knocks (16 and 5) and that's what they do. Doesn't help that a lot of people are swanning in from the 2s to bat in the 3s now.
Just really annoyed as I bat and want to do that. There's nothing to gain for me when I bat 7 as I'm a top order batsman.
It annoys me the way these things work at times.
My mate at the club (2nd in the runs chart behind me) has been dropped from 1s to 2s as well - lack of faith.. :(

AARGH. >:(

Don't get down about it mate, that won't help anyone and you'll end up looking petulant (trust me, I know from experience). If you score runs you'll go the other way, but you can't expect to hold down a position like 3 if scoring no runs (although 2 poor innings in a row is harsh). Just get your head down and play the finisher role, be a hero and score some pressure free runs :D

I know I'll try to do that, but it sucks the way it's handled sometimes. I've not been like that to people's faces really. I'll just take it as it is...
Hopefully I can mate. :)

You've scored runs before, you'll score 'em again. Hope for a collapse lol, come in at 30-5 and score a big hundred. Not that that really counts as pressure free runs though lol. I had the same issue when starting at my new club this season. Played the division below their 1st team last year, but had to start at the bottom (4th team) and work up. I guess until you're an integral part of the team you can't demand anything. You're still young, you'll have setbacks, will work through them, become a better player and be good enough to play 1st team soon enough, just need to take the rough with the smooth and jump through the hoops lol.

  • If I only could bat....

First game I've played this season. We bowled badly, with a couple of our guys going for a lot of runs. I bowled four for no wickets and my second over got spanked. Ultimately wasn't too bad though, and they scored 180 of our 20 overs.

Then we came to bat.I went in at 6 and when the number 7 came in, I asked what our scored was. 27 of 7 with 6 down. Lowest scored in the league this season was 29 versus 224. Fortunately the next wide made it equal. Me and the seven then proceeded to put on roughly 100 partnership, until I got out in the 19th having a heave at the spinner I'd batted out of the attack previously, and playing the shot too early, resulting in a skyer to the bowler. More frustratingly, I was out on 46. Grrr. Got hit with jug avoidance fine...

The Bulldog Spirit20 did its job tonight and scored me a few, and the advice on here about watching the ball really paid offer. 2nd highest scored ever and in far fewer overs. Also rediscovered that i can't play the cut for toffee as every time it was short outside off, took a huge swing and I know I should have tried to paddle through third man for a couple. Any advice on improving this would be welcome. Missed out on so many runs there. Hit some lovely drives off middle stump though, to the annoyance of the bowlers!

Happy me :D

Won in a cup game tonight versus Ilton :) We scored a par-ish score of 140 (all out!).... They never really got going, they only lost 4 wickets but only made 135-4 from 20 overs. Was tight at the end though! I scored 20 before being caught at deep mid-wicket...

Well I have done an unusual thing and changed leagues/clubs after my first 6 games. Came all the way across the other side of the world based on information that was untrue and just wasnt enjoying myself at all!! Not cool. Anyway, get to play for the new side this week, and have been picked in their ones (have been training with them for several weeks and played a few sunday games). So find myself playing 1st XI Premier Grade....dunno where I will be batting/bowling, just hope I don't get destroyed!!
