look at his stats not as many lbw as you think but i was at a coaching seminar recently who rated his technique very highly and in some area he is almost flawless.

Not one player in world cricket hit the ball through covers and mid off like him but i guess it is opinion

He technique is one area i think Watson can not be questioned on at all.

But each to there own Watson's figure of nine or diamond is as good as anybodys

No i saying Watson has a very good technique proved by the amount of runs he has scored and the manner he has scored them..

He has a very good technique abd currently for me he and Kallis and Tendulkar are great technitions to watch

His only 2 weaknesses are back foot and his mentality..

Sorry Rich if you disagree maybe you would if i bought the pads and gloves from you..  :D

Watsons driving is as good as any in world cricket at the minute and textbook so yes technically he is good to watch..

Can not stand the guy but he is a good fluid batsman

And figure of nine and diamonds there not many better i would call his feet his arms and his head not much can touch him when driving and if your coaching a kid his modle would be the one i would show

Oh and no i not saying he is the best batsman to of ever lived just a sound technique and one i admire due to the hard work he has had to put into it.

thought we was talking technique i doubt most of the forum have not seen most of the players you list..

Sorry i'm going off a coaching tangent which i should of impeaded

Watson is a good model for the young cricketer to watch.

His technique and that alone is out of manuel and is coached by most coaches especially his front foot play.

He is a very coached batsman for sure

And in hindsight possibly JohnG shout of technique is Ian Bell he plays off back and fron up there with the best

Yes the players you name are world class not just now but in any genre but you would not getting a coach trying to coach the Lara backlift for sure.

Maybe i mis understood the qiestion for that i apoligixe but technique wise i would watch Watson currently in world cricket for certain aspects of batting

I think allround johng makes a very valid point about Bell from a coaching propective

Watson technique is totally floored hence as many LBW decisions so massively disagree and don't know where your coming from on this one, agree haynes and greenidge were class no issue but Watson ? class name nothing else
Remember Watson is batting out of position and fell into the opening spot in 2009 as there was no one else to fill it. He is a number 4 or 5 and therefore, his technique is adequate for that position but agree his technique is floored for an opener, Hussey should be opening but we are asking Cricket Australia to make a good and right decision, not in your or my lifetime

his average suggests otherwise though but i guess it all opinions i'm sure he is averaging 50 as a opener what do you want...
I beleive he was batting around 7 or 8 for Australia ave around 19.0

Sounds to me his average and technique have improved and i think it his opening partner you Aussie's should be worried about

I mean the joker left hander who plays for NSW come on  :o

Anyone remember Aravinda DeSilva from Sri Lanka? He was top notch. And Nathan Astle from New Zealand.

watsons technique is very bad. he will really struggle against good quality short bowling. purple patch thats all. ofcourse his straight/cover drives are good, thats all he sets up for
