2011 t20 Season
« on: May 23, 2011, 05:29:57 PM »

Thought it might be handy to have a dedicated thread for T20 cricket. It would be interesting to know who is playing t20 cricket this season, whether it's a league / cup / friendly and how guys are finding it if they are playing for the first time.

We (Headingley CC) playing Friendlies / 2 Cup Competitions - 1 associated to our Saturday League and another a friendly cup and a new league as well, The Headingley & District T20 Midweek League. Quite a mouthful!. We play every Thursday and the occasional Tuesday. Currently we are the holders of the Friendly Cup and won our first game this season easily. We are played 2 won 2 in the Midweek League and going well. We've also got a bye to the Second round of our Leagues Evening Cup.

We also have the Mighty Simmy playing for us in the Midweek League :-). What T20 cricket is everyone else playing?

Nice idea. We have a T20 competition within the northants cricket league. Never played in it with my old club, but my new club enter, we have been drawn against a division 1 club in the first round (we play div. 3) so it may not be a long campaign  :D  all good fun though!

think the first round is to be played in the first week of june.

We play several divisions below some of the teams we play in our midweek league, and win. Be surprised how little difference there can be between divisions. If you get your t20 tactics right you'll surprise a few teams.

There isn't a T20 league in Worcs that I know of... Also Sunday cricket is on the demise so I've sent a few emails to the league officials to try and sort out a T20 league/cup on Sundays. It won't take all day, it's a bit of fun so I'm sure it'll be successful - however they are yet to get back to me... Shame really.

good idea, it's typically about 3 hours long and could be playing morning, afternoon, evening. Wouldn't be surprised if it does take off on a Sunday as alot of players can still spend most of the day with families and sneak off for a quick game :-)

just to add that our Midweek League is new this year. We have 9 teams but before a ball was bowled another 3 have applied to join next season. I guess it's just getting something going.

We are in the Herts Village Cup 20/20 competition, had a bye as Great Gaddesdon couldn't be arsed to let us know they weren't turning up and we were there waiting. Did it to us two years ago apparently as well.
We are also in the Gazette Cup (Local Newspaper) and our first game is tomorrow against Northwood who we thrashed by 112 runs in our first sunday game of the year, however we have a very weak batting lineup tomorrow so we may well experience a taste of our own medicine.
This only my second full season at this club and my first playing adult T20 so i'm looking forward to this very much :)
