Here are some other bats that were there in a social match I played in.

gm skipper ........

those bring back memories of the junior kit bag. Walking out to bat in a pair of pads with buckles on the sides and a gm skipper was my first experience of competitive cricket. Im pretty sure they weren't in any way a cricket bat, more a piece of fence painted white and a handle inserted into it.

Later on we used to fight over the GM Maestro until i got a DF Graeme Hick 405 for christmas

pretty much the same as me - although I had the Maestro and before that the DF Ian Botham Attack..!

i remember the DF Attack with its black and red stickers.

I think my parents have a picture of me from the paper when i was 12, when i go back in july i'll post it up. from memory the stumps go upto my shoulder and im playing a very aggressive pull shot with my DF 405.

There are some really old bats in their garage, my brothers GN david gower scoop which he smacked on the metal stumps and took a chunk out of it. My Dad being a none cricketer got the bloody thing shaved down on each side so my brother was basically batting with a bat halfway between a middling bat and a proper bat ... no wonder he got no runs!

Their is an old school Slazenger with a green front sticker, marks on the face from someone hitting the stumps in and a couple of autogrpahs on the back. looks like this



Never see stuff like that these days ...... more likely to see under 13 cricketers walking out in full MH or Newbery kit

My first competitive match entailed a GN Twin Scoop that belonged to a mate, the aforementioned pads with leather straps and buckles and a nice pair of GM Sausage gloves. None of us had thigh pads or helmets... Would have been about 1988 I think!

i think i used to use the clubs 3D cricket gloves, they were the brand of the pads.

In the days before the internet i remember waiting each for the 3D catalogue to come out. Best purchase i got was my dad getting me sone GN Geoff Dujon gloves as a 16 year old to reward me for getting into the set up at Durham. Loved the rasta colour on the cuff.

hard to believe i use to go out to bat with this little padding in my leg guards!

Funny thing is I don't remember it hurting... We just must've been harder then!!!
