Not sure if this is really a vintage bats issue, but does anyone have experience with the GM Cannon 303 bats? Were they a decent blade? Looks like they retailed around �160 at the time.

The one I have is heavy, nearly 3lb, but is unfortunately poly armoured.

Has anyone tried removing polyarmour? Can it be sanded off? Are the grains of the bats underneath usually a mess?

303 was the first English willow bat in the range, with the 202 and 101 being Kashmir. Decent cheap sticks I guess.

Here's one I've just got hold of :hunts county rapide. It's brand new with factory scuff sheet. Does anyone know roughly when these were made and what quality they are? It has 11 grains but a bit wavy through the toe and some blemishes. Not sure how it knocks up :

that's a late 90s model. it was lower middle of their range - sort of comparable to a Newbery Series 1, i.e. dense but good-looking willow.

Has any of the collectors on the forum got a GN Volcano? Would love to see a few snaps. Surprisingly, even GN UK don't seem to much info about this model (or don't want to look for it in their archives).

I've obtained another vintage brand new bat. This one is a GN Optimum Power Zone. Anyone has one of these or know the model? From around 2000 I think. Has five fairly faint grains. Originally had fabric cover on face but this has been removed. I'm not totally sure if it's English willow. Anyone know? It has great decals that I think are better than a lot of new GNs.

Will post pics later. The only issue is that it has Lancs. and Notts. County signatures on it, though probably not the big names of the time, e. G. Atherton. Does anyone have strong opinions of whether signatures should be kept or sanded off to make a usable bat?

It may be a special Autograph bat that wasn�t intended for use. They tend to stanp them on the back near the top, but not always

They appear to be very rare, but I have one, think you have already seen pics of it

Recently I have also picked up a cross between the volcano/supalight and a scoop - so it has cut off shoulders and a single scoop at the back

#Chalkie. Yes, could be one of those special autograph bats. But I think not in this case. Looks like a normal bat which has had the scuff sheet cut away to fit the autographs on. It's got a proper handle and the GN maker's stamps on it. And nicer quality sticker design than the usual. I'll see how it taps up tomorrow and post some pics.

It's a probably a scoop supalight, sold in the 70s and 80s. It was the T20 concept, shorter, lighter balde, before T20 took off as a professional format!
