Grip Applicators
« on: January 29, 2009, 11:00:16 AM »

I change my bats grips very frequently and it's always been a one hell of a task putting a new grip especially the second grip.

Was browsing the internet for easir options and came across the following:

1. Vacum grip applicator or Kwik grip applicator, and

2. The Squid - 20 second grip changing.

Is there any other equipment available?

Which one do you think is better?

Can anyone review the above?

A decent gripping is the best option, it will not break and can fit any grip in seconds.

Can't speak for the Squid Grip Applicator, but have used a Kwik Grip applicator, and have to profess a preference for the good old-fashioned gripping cone.  It will deal with any kind of grip, and any number of grips.

The Gunn & Moore vacuum applicator is very effective, but I tried using it with an Octopus grip and found that it couldn't create a vacuum.

I then resorted to the platic bag method which worked a treat.

NB I haven't tried multiple grips though.

Yes it looks very similar to the squid.

Stick a plastic bag inside a grip.
Put the plastic bag upside down over the bat handle and pull down.
The grip goes nicely in place and its not particularly difficult removing the bag.
Tho' you have ruined one perfectly good shopping bag. :)

Cones are the best.

Vacuum applicators cannot do Octopus or thick grips.

Slightly off topic, but I love the bit when his says "Action" right at the beginning of the video like it is going to be some sort of epic.

i have tryed this and i can get the grip on to the bat, but then i have to role the grip up and down and rip the bag up into pieces to get it off. is that how your suppose to get it out?

Yeah.
Roll the grip up at the base of the handle and just rip out bits of the carrier bag.
Do the same with the top of the handle.

Tape the grip at the base and .......presto new grip.

Its a bit messy and destroys the bag, but I like it. 8)

Kwik Grips are great, especially for the diamond, chevron, suction/octopus type grips
