Indeed, pads like that are 10 a penny in india. e.g.,

http://www.alibaba.com/product/mahajanbrothersindia-104910092-100784338/productdetail.html

I don't know whether this Alibaba ad is legit or not as the majority of Alibaba ads are dubious but the Kangroo products overall are quite good and cheap; finish and quality should be more or less at par with BDM, which as we know, should not be so bad.

You can get very good quality moulded pads from india if you pay a bit extra for some manufacturs.  The cheap moulded pads are poor quality

How so?

The pads in the picture are three and half years old.

In other words, this is the fourth season my friend has been using them and they are still in excellent condition even though my friend never bothers cleaning them etc.

The stitching has not come apart and they still look quality.

These comments, "you get what you pay for", "the cheap moulded pads are poor quality" etc smack of jealousy to be honest.

Let me make the points clearer:

These pads weigh similarly to Morrants.

These pads look better than Morrants.

These pads stain less easily than Morrants.

These pads are seemingly just as durable as Morrants (fourth season use with more to come sounds durable to me).

These pads are less than 1/10th the cost of Morrants.

Please tell me where the negatives are?

What level of protection do they offer? or they cheaper due to differing protection quality as well as the reasons mentioned beforehand or are they as protective as morrants?
I like the look and price of them lol

As regards to the quality, and it again depends on the particular company and the product, if it is good, it can be close to being as good as a top of the range SG or SS, which are really really good.

As for protection, again read the above.

But it is not a rule of thumb, you need a bit of luck as well. Having spent a lot of time discussing all these with my friends in India and having gone to Jallandhar a few times myself, I can simply say that based on the value offered by a few of these companies, you cannot go wrong overall. The ratio of being lucky to unlucky if you can hunt down a family run good independent entrepreneur should be around 90:10. The ratio of finding a good company to a bad one is 40:60.

I hope this gives a bit of idea  :)

Sounds to me those people ripped off paying 200AUSD for Morrants will try and justify in any way that somehow that anything cheaper MUST somehow be inferior.

Don't bet on it.

These pads are awesome in everyway...and let me get this straight, I have seen both these and Morrants up close and it is the Morrants that look cheaply made by comparison.

Someone upload a front and back photo of the Morrants and place them side by side with these pads.

The fact that these 20 buck pads are arguably better is a sobering reality check to the "more expensive is better" brigade.

These guys are the same ones who will swear black and blue that the 500 pound GM signature series are better than a 300 pound bespoke masterpiece - "because you get what you pay for".

Viv, i was not saying the pads you have are poor quality, i was pointing out the fact that most immatations of morrant pads can be poor quality and i was only saying it so people dont go out buying cheap ones.

I bet the pads you have have gone up alot in price in the last 3 years as production costs have risen

vic, on the "they last a long time" point.. your mate who has them is in your 5th team right, and you have previously said you, in the 3rds, don't play a great standard.
is it fair to say that the owner doesn't use them much then!
I don't like these or the morrants so consider myself impartial on the subject!

He bats at number 3, so he certainly uses his pads every week!
