New designs
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:00:32 AM »

Hello folks,

Been a while since my last post on here but thought I would start a new thread on cricket bat design.....

I have just sharpened my design pencil (well opened the CAD software.....) for GM 2013 and before I start I thought I would ask you guys what you look for in a bat?

What is the most important "thing" of the "design" of the cricket bat?

Any golden oldies of GM's past that you think should be given the DXM treatment?

Really look forward to your comments,

David

while I agree, it needs to be a slightly better shape than the apex which is vaguely similar..

failing that a revamped maestro would be brilliant. the shape should be like the icon, but with a lower middle.

I'd like GM to do a Distinction profile and a jumbo/laver ultra profile. Possibly a t20 version of some of the bats.

Something Distinction-esque is a good shout, putting an emphasis on creating a high spine for putting maximum wood into the middle

Agreed. I think it would be interesting to see what a CNC machine could do in the 1" shorter blade/1" longer handle market.

Pretty much every one of the shorter blade bats out there is made on a CNC. Uzi, Joker, Mongoose etc.

What about a more traditional steep spine with the focus on a larger hitting area down the blade? Edges wouldn't be massive but you'd get a bat with a very forgiving and large middle
