One memorable Sunday match, turned up just to have a walk around the ground (playing away) and one of our guys doesn't show. End up playing and borrowing kit. Not fussed about batting so go in at I think 7 after around 30 overs and play and miss at the first couple. Bowler announces loudly 'We're through to the tail, this bloke doesn't know which end of the bat to hold' and so on.
Hmmmm, the bowler is wearing trainers and I think to myself - we've never played these guys before, they don't know me, and the boundary straight is an easy miss-timed six away. There's no way I'm going to be sledged by a guy in trainers. So I stand a yard outside the crease and walk down the track every ball.
End up scoring a century in 42 balls, last 50 in 13 balls. Fastest in the clubs history.
Thanks for motivating me.
