Cheeky game Wednesday night, 16 8-ball overs. Oppo were 49-0 off 6, so I was brought on to stem the flow and take wickets. 5 overs, 34 runs and 6 wickets later, it's fair to say I did a job. Got their overseas pro out and a few ECB leaguers, always nice! Chasing 143, we started off well but slowed down, needing 17 off last 2 overs, I walked in at 11, and couldn't seal it, picking up 3 then playing round a straight one!

49-0 off 6 = 8.2 on over, then another 94 off 10 - 9.4 an over. Sounds like the other end leaked runs, 60 off 5?

Yeah something like that, cause they couldn't get me away they swung from the hip off everyone else! It's the way it goes normally, it also may well have been 49-0 off 4 or 5, I can't be sure, I was too busy traipsing to the boundary to fetch the ball every other delivery! haha

Got a nice win yesterday in a 16 over game, our skipper opened and launched the ball around to all parts despite it being a terrible pitch, I came in and got a very scruffy 11(including the only 6 of the match) before being bowled by a short ball that didn't get above my ankle.. We ended up with 132 off 16 and we put them under pressure early, they were on 18-1 off 6(I bowled 3 overs for 8 runs) however the ball started to get wet and the bowling deteriorated as they went from 26-2 off 8 to 93-2 off 16.

A bit disappointed with the bowlers that came on after me, I had helped to put pressure on the batsmen and then they removed this pressure by bowling down leg far too often. Was a very poor pitch and all you had to do was put it on or outside off stump and it was very difficult to hit, anything down leg was just easy runs.. A win is a win I guess but it was a weak team and we are playing in a league so I would have preferred to have limited them to a much lower score so as to get maximum points.

any views on whether 8 ball 15/16 over games finish quicker than 6 ball 20 over games?

I've also heard of bowling 10 overs from one end and then 10 from the other - sometimes done in Aus.

That's correct uknsaunders.

In the league we play in, it's 10 overs from one end and 10 from the other. It does save a lot of time.

We play on the 20/20 games on a week night. 5:30 start. So it's handy to speed up the game so you're not there until 8:30 or so. Especially if you're playing away and their home ground is a 45 minute drive.

We play a different format, 12 x 8 ball overs. Played in a cup final last night, won quite convincingly. They made 116 off their 12, then we knocked those off in 10 overs with the loss of 2 wickets. I opened and made a quickfire 31 off about 15 deliveries, got us off to the start we needed whilst the other opener batted out the innings and made a good 50odd no.

Lost our ht20 league game tonight by 1 wicket :-(

Didn't start too well with Simdog bowled 2nd ball. Liam hit a big six but departed soon after to probably not his finest shot. Story of our innings, great run rate mixed with some poor shots. 104 ao off 16 overs wasn't great. Despite that we had the oppo 0-2, 17-4, 62-8 but couldn't close it out. Lad at 8 batted really well but was dropped in the last over before hitting a no-ball for six to pretty much seal it. We've one a few tight ones but it was disappointing to lose this one as qualifying for finals day has become alot more tricky. Got to win 2 of the last 3 against stronger oppo.

Good happy day today :)..won the season opening T-20 cup...grey skies, windy and rain in the air we lost the toss and were put in to field...

got the openers out cheaply...they were 18 for 3 after 4 overs..had a bit of partnership and anyways ended up scoring 150...we lost our first wicket on the 3rd ball for 0 then the other opener and 1st down (my teams best batsman - scored 93 today and got pair for my batting gloves as a gift ;) ) had an unbroken 151 run partnership and finished the game in under 17 overs..yay..i bowled 3 overs for 3 wickets and 15 runs  :D

Got ran out for three by a batsmen who had been in for about 7 overs and scored about 12 runs and then got smashed around in my two overs, don't know exactly how many runs I conceded but it was easily more than 20. We lost and for the first time this season, I feel that was majorly down to myself, its days like this that put you off cricket.

Won another lms match and gained bonus points. We bowled badly and let them score 118 off 20, then proceeded to lose our openers in the first over due to stupidity. Number 3 went soon afterwards and we still needed more than 100. Fortunately 4 & 5 scored quickly and effusively until 4 got bowled having a slash with about 45 needed. In I come and was still there at the end with the final 45 coming off about 5 overs.

It was raining for the first and last three of our overs (peeing down for the last three) making bowling and fielding hard, and the opposition got to bowl with puddles on either side of the pitch. Fixture congestion, and them crying off to watch the football when we were supposed to play last time meant there was no way we could replay this one...

Lowlight of the match were the scummy kids who nicked the boundary flags, which our captain took off them. After the flags were safely back, the most unpleasant decided that he had hot her and scratched her, ran around the field shouting child abuse and then went home and told her mum who walked straight across the pitch and remonstrated with him then said she was going to the police. And the story goes on.....

we just played in Atlantic t-20 comp over the weekend (fri, sat & sun)...3 days of non stop cricket :)...came out undefeated and best of all one of the team, Quebec (QCF), got pummelled by us...QCF had been much stronger than us in past...so was a massive achievement for us to beat them and that too beat them comprehensively...

they had been trash talking for 2 days, it was worth seeing their faces...personally did not have a great tournament with my bowling but as a team we were just great...

we lost by 1 run in t20 finals day  :(

Our 1s play Wetherby Div4 and even though Simdog, Liam turn out for us we were playing Hall Park a team in Airewharfe Div3 - approx 5 divisions higher, in the semi final. We smashed them, scoring 149 and bowling them out for 72. I think Liam hit 40 odd. It then gets even more ridiculous in the final when we play Adel in Airewharfe Div1 - 7 divisions higher. They also have an IPL player and a Minor Counties player who score 50 odd in the first 5 overs, but we fightback to restrict them to 122. Despite being 13-3 we get to the last over needing 5 to win with 4 wickets left but a wicket and a couple of dots mean we need 2 off the last ball. The guys try and grab single but fall just short of forcing a bowl off.  Really proud of our guys who are working their way through league cricket and giving a few "big" teams a real bloody nose.

Had a Local derby last night.
Cranborne Vs Witchampton (about 5 minutes down the road from us).
Due to the rain hit season this was their first and last home game of the year!
I won the toss on what looked to be a green but hard flat track, Won toss and elected to bat.
I strolled out to open as the normal opener had a football match, I took the strike and chased a wide one trying to cut one (my worst played shot), bottom nicked it to the keeper. 1-1 we slumped to 9-3,  Our first boundary coming at 9.3 overs! And limped to 60 off 10 overs.
We the started to motor a bloke I got in at 1.30pm yesterday arvo making 66*! We ended up at 149 from our 20 overs!!

Went out to bowl expecting to be up against it, one of their lads smashing it with a beautiful Laver Signature Reserve. He was biffing it to all parts. I managed to get him to hole out to Long off for an impressive 60 odd!
I went on to take another 3 wickets. Ending with figures of 4-26 off 4 overs. Not bad considering it they were my 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th overs of the year. I had my saturday captain playing too who has over looked me when bowling this year thus far. He also happens to be my future father in law! Will be interesting to see what happens this Saturday!

My T20 Figures this year are  6ovs 0mdns 4wkts 30runs!
