Going by their Twitter feeds they have been scoring stacks of runs and getting some abuse from other clubs for being big fish in puddles let alone small ponds.
Dont see the point in playing teams way below your standard, is it really that fun?

This one doesn't look like too much of a friendly to me! Did he really need to bowl in the 2nd innings?

Played against Barnard not long ago. He was supposed to be over here last year but was seriously injured in a car accident in SA and was put into a coma. Really good player, got a dodgy LBW decision against us though ;).

Always nice to see an overseas get pleasure in destroying 13 year olds bowling. Where does that rank alongside his first class cricket achievements?

We had a kiwi who was a gun player and if realised he was far too good, he'd simply remove himself from the game. Bat 11 not bowl and just field. He loved playing any game of cricket and loved seeing everyone else do well. But refused to ruin other people weekends if the teams were mismatched. He took no personal enjoyment from smashing kids or old men about. Shame there aren't more about like him.

Pathetic. You can bat properly vs 'lesser' bowling and score quick enough without at any point taking the Nick. Just keep it on the deck and practice placing it. For some reason as we see on here sometimes, people love scoring loads or taking loads of wickets bs crap teams and aren't interested in making a game of it.

Hopefully these teams will struggle to find fixtures in the coming years

truly pointless cricket, those that get satisfaction smashing around teams way below them really do a dis- service to the game.

I think the increasing amount of players being paid in the amateur game is making the situation worse

it goes on a lot in amateur cricket, not only paid per game but wickets and runs bonus....

this must make the situation worse surely?

And they blame peoples changing lifestyles for the decline of Sunday cricket. It's not, it's people not wanting to give up a day to feed the ego of a failed professional cricketer

I'd be embarrassed racking up 300 against under 13's bowling...

You can't even use that down the pub. "This one time I smashed some under 13's around for 300 runs". You'd be laughed out of the place.

You see it far too often towards the end of the season. Teams in the lower leagues dropping players 4/5 divisions above to save them from relegation or secure promotion

One from earlier this season. Just couldn't break that double figure mark.

lots of mismatches in the lower divs of that league at the minute due to the merger of the previous SCYA with all the top teams in that league been shoved into the bottoms divs!

Eden grove and parklands were two Seperate sides when we played in that division.

Always like to have a look at the national play cricket stats to see who is scoring runs both through the season and in one off games. You also see the odd ridiculous scorecard!

A win by 470 runs including 2 double tons! Anyone know anything about the 'Gould' family?

And they blame peoples changing lifestyles for the decline of Sunday cricket. It's not, it's people not wanting to give up a day to feed the ego of a failed professional cricketer

So I brought up the fact that the focus has shifted in sunday cricket from simply putting a fun game on for 22 blokes to one side taking it seriously and taking apart the other side. This leads to people simply not wanting to play etc.  Of course, I got shouted down as its because of time issues..

We as a club played strong Sunday sides in 2013-15 and racked up 300's week in week out. Sure enough, we lost shed loads of fixtures and teams are pulling out the Sunday league left right and centre as they are fed up of getting smashed. One side in our league got hit for 365 runs off 40 overs and simply went home (not saying it's right or wrong, just that they obviously felt it was a bit OTT ). Sadly they've already said they will leave the league (we are also leaving it), so in 4 years it's gone from about 8 divisions to about 3/4.

A side last year took it seriously, smashed everyone and moaned teams weren't putting good teams out.. It's Sunday, it might be a good team but the bowlers are batting and batters are bowling :) they moved leagues and have found another is just the same.

Poorly managed by the league then. Hard to have a go so much at the batsmen then, makes a mockery if you don't play your hardest in league cricket. But the league should have managed that better, whether its a temporary thing or not people will not want to carry on playing cricket every saturday if they are going to conceed 450 runs then get rolled for 50 runs.

I stand by what I said about that Sunday friendly though.
