I really dont get some of these scorecards posted on here, I can't imagine what level these guys are facing racking up 360 for one bloke..it must be complete muppet bowling or a pro or semi pro batting. Played decent standard league cricket and the most runs ever was 330 in 50 on the hottest day of this year on an absolute road of a wicket.

The only guy who has 200 in a 50 over game was hamza riazzudins dad way back and he was class
What level is this sort of cricket?  :)

I can confirm their is another 'Gould' in our league - Son of the former Umpire - Used to play Sussex 2's - never made a 50 in the top Sussex League - plays way below his standard.....here are his 2 tops scores....

How has this guy not been forced by the league to stop playing at that level? What happened to 'sprit of cricket'?

As annoying as a 1 off huge score is, being able to do it for 3 seasons is beyond a joke!

Ive played against this guy it's Ian goulds son
Quite quick when I faced him and a very correct bat. Didn't make it for Sussex thou

I agree with Kieron , I've played against some very good players but this ruins most ameteur games
Agree the league should step in and force them up-they are doing nothing but playing miles below their standard

This scorecard is ridiculous at the other end of the scale to recent discussion.

Division 2 of our Sunday league (a division we won last year at a canter) saw a local side field SA and Lancs player Dane Vilas. He went well.....

They lost to a team with 10 men who chased the score in 11 overs!

That Egerton ground is tiny, there's a reason there were more 6s than 4s.

Bet they were chuffed after the 500 pound he'd be paid for the game, at least he wouldn't be getting his pound a run bonus!

Whilst we are talking about players being 'too good' - what are peoples views on a player playing for team - lets say in a kent league - then next week play for a club in the sussex league. without a transfer between clubs.

My view is that this should not happen.....but interested in others views.

We've got a player who does this, played for Abberton in Essex on Saturdays then us on a Sunday, he does it because of work meaning he'd never be able to get back for a Saturday game after having to work early hours Saturday in Essex but lives 15 minutes away from our ground in Kent so makes sense for him to play for us.

We have another as well who's currently at Uni so for the first part of the season on Saturdays up until June he plays for a club local to uni, and then when he comes back will play for us; I think it's a good thing as for examples like this it means people can play the most cricket without worrying about transfers and deadlines etc

Ok, so think about a player rocking up - scoring the most runs, taking wickets, playing his first game for them - probably never again....#Ringer #NotFair!

Agree wouldn't be fair, but how often that actually happens is another matter. Youve got to think you only ever find out someone plays different leagues on different days or different places etc when they do something ridiculous and the score card gets flagged up, how much cricket is played that, apart from by  the players involved, never has the scorecard looked at.

Agree the system leaves a loop hole but telling loads and loads of 18-22 year olds that they either have to miss the first half of their season, last half or try and get a transfer half way through which could be rejected or missed by the cut off date if the rules were changed could be an awful lot more damaging to cricket as a whole

My mate used to play Whitstable 2s and said this about the guy

"He used to play for whitstable and him his brother and dad went to littlebourne about 2-3 years ago and are getting them promoted every season on a Saturday he could easily play kent league 1s.."

I play in Oxfordshire and down in Somerset for my lads village team when their short
If I didn't turn out when they are short, the team would struggle and probably have to forfeit matches
Plus on the odd occasions when I do make the 400 mile round trip, I get to play cricket with my son

Is that ok churchy?

On a similar note, would be interested in people's views on age etc, when talking about playing below levels etc
I'm being told this year,(playing in the bottom div) that I need to play regularly in the ones in the higher divs
Thing is, I really can't be ar@d anymore, I'm not in good enough shape to chase a ball around for 45 overs in the field
And some of the tools! That seem to proliferate the higher divs, really bore me with the stupid banter etc

I will add, that my batting av is higher for the ones, so I'm not really taking the pee too much in the twos

Tbh, I'm not that fussed about playing anymore, but agreed to help out a new second team in their first season
A lovely club, with a cracking bunch of lads,
Something I've really enjoyed, and something I benefited from when playing as a youngster

Would appreciate people's thoughts

I am with you about age @Northern monkey as I am older than you.
As this is the first season that we have had a 2nd XI for a while, I actually find it harder to bat against that slower standard of bowling!!
But hopefully slowly adapting to it.

Even though I have a reasonable level of fitness endurance, I still end up feeling very stiff and slow when fielding sometimes! For the last year or two, I have certainly yearned for the slower and less frenetic pace of a 2nd XI team!! 100% with you there mate!!

I could get paid to play!! But it would be the opposition paying to give them the advantage  ;)

Our first team is playing against a semi pro in our league who travels from Gloucester each Saturday

400 per game plus travel expenses.

Yes really  :o

Our ones and two(my team) are playing div 1 cricket so the standard is pretty good. This guy (batsman) is on a completely different level skill wise.
