Judging by a couple of replies on Twitter, the guy dropped down to the 2nds and proceeded to smash 9 people around a field including a few 14 year olds. Not sure it's his bat that needs changing, more his ego.

dont happen to have a link to the post do you mate?

Clown last seen on Twitter trying to get a free woodworm bat off Ian Bell and showing absolutely no shame for bullying kids and old uns into oblivion. In fact gloating. Bullying like that isn't cricket, to me...

"I've played against Richard Symmonds a few times and it's fair to say he has no issue with bowling bouncers at 12 year olds and then screaming in their face when he gets them out"

"Also worth mentioning that he scored that 343 in a division where I, as a man who struggles to hit it off the square in any reasonable standard, averaged 53 with the bat"

Sounds like quite a top bloke.

A guy hit 300* for a Sunday 2nd team in the Bedford League yesterday.

Ampthill 2’s hit 477 in their 40 overs.
Sandy 115 All out.

Technically they didn’t even need his runs...

Questions

1) why would anyone want to play in that game ?
2) why would the team who just got hit for 300+ on a Sunday ever want to play a fixture against that club again ?
3) is nobody embarrassed that a player , captain and club feel the need to actually hit that many runs on a Sunday ?

People really don’t get that that sort of crap is what can put people right off playing.. let alone playing on a Sunday !

Gone are the days of friendly Sunday cricket. Retiring at 50 and giving everyone a ball and ball

Beggars belief that.

I well remember some older players telling me league cricket will kill the game at ameteur level. I enjoy league games myself but as the years go by I understand more what they meant.

Not so much for myself but younger guys wanting to play the game now.....

Just for context (not that I agree with it) the beds league on a Sunday is a pretty competitive affair, full of pros and overseas players playing for different clubs on a Saturday in neighbouring areas. I know some guys from peterborough who travel there on a Sunday for some cash. I know this is a second team game being discussed. I have no idea how much the standard drops down the divisions

.

Maybe that’s partly to blame for the massive decline in Sunday Cricket then.. (Saturday Cricket is declining too sadly.. as is midweek 2020 so we can’t say it’s specific to a format)

For those whinging about the Ampthill ton probably right to understand a couple of things first

1) It was competitive league cricket not a Sunday friendly.
2) The guy was playing at his level not a first teamer playing down
3) Declarations are banned in the league and clubs get a points deduction and fine if you declare so you have no choice but to bat your innings.
4) Just appreciate a decent knock?

Look, I don't like calling someone I've never met an absolute pr1ck.

But...having made 343 not out, did he really need to bowl 8 overs when noone else got to?  It is perhaps telling that two of the oppo "retired out"...
