I've never actually owned a GN bat. Always wanted one but for some reason never got round to buying one. Used a heavy Fearnley VR5* for years, then forgot to take it to a match. I borrowed a team mates crappy GN World Cup which was like a twig. Scored my first 100 with it. Makes me think why have I still not go one. Love the look of the new classical retro bats. Reminds me of the GN's I used to watch my dad use to smash bowlers all round the park with when I was a kid.

My old Predator 5 star, got it for £90, best bat I've ever had was an absolute gun until the face literally fell off it

Mega drive or mega power? I don't remember the mega drive in the UK.

The megapower was a 80s bat with two low scoops like the Sabre a few years later.

The megadrive was a late 90s bat, with a number of long grooves in the back

For me, it would be a toss up between  a couple of dynadrives, especially one with a super short handle, and a scoop, also SSH from 1983. I've still got a scimitar that i got about 10 years ago, knocked it in and used in winter nets, but never really used in matches.

I think I had actual sex with my Xiphos once, but i'm not sure.

Perhaps it was the other way around mate ;)

Was it a 'players' edition??? :D

Cant remember what it was called but it had 4 scoops on it - circa early 80's (David Gower used one), scored my first ever 50 with it.

I know the megapower well. That's why I asked the question. Been trying to find one on ebay for an age, unsuccessfully.

Some favourites - the old Elite that Robin SMith used when I was a kid.  They were mint!

Of ones I've owned, the original Powerbow was classic (and actually had a powerful bow, unlike the odd shapes they've used to keep the name alive in recent years) and I really liked the response I got from a Phoenix - the flat face was quite odd but once you got used to it, I found I had more control than with any other bats I've used.

It was this one: http://assets.reviewcentre.com/cms//images/390/197/item69455-jpg-1.jpg

The one with loads of little cut outs. Profile was massive, but I supose when you whip out half the middle, you can make it as big as you want!

My favourite from what I've used, borrowed has to be the old GN Powerbow. Up to when they changed it around 2005 I think it was. Massive profile and I never came across one that didn't fly. Used to hate seeing batters walk out to the middle with on of those bats haha

My GN nitro extreme from a couple of years ago. weighs 3lb bit picks up like a 2.12. The middle is a beast. Just a standard forward defence often rushes back past the bowler at a rapid rate of knots!
