The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
« on: March 01, 2013, 11:54:13 PM »

The Good - The service from BB was excellent. This is my first BB and wen i saw the offer for a damaged bat 2.9 for £95 i was hooked. The bat has a compression crack at the bottom of the bat, this has been fully repaired by the BB batmaker so i was happy with this.  I sent a PM got a swift and polite reply to the few questions i had and paid the amount required

The bat arrived inside 3 days of payment which i though was very good and this was included in the £95 cost of the bat.

The personal touch was also very nice but i will come on to that in a minute.

The bat itself is lovely. 8 dead straight and evenly spaced grains on the face, buffed and polished very well and actually the finish on this bat is excellent.  I have tapped it up on the mallet and response is very nice as is the lovely ping noise it makes of the mallet. 32 mm edges at largest point and approx 52mm spine height so for 2.9 quite a big of willow. This bat was advertised as having the Malik profile which as you can see as a lowish middle.

The Bad- This is 100% about the (no swearing please) courier that has delivered this to me. I will come onto this again in the next section. This kind of in my mind robbery is just unfair on both the buyer and the seller in this and in fact any other instance, It leaves both parties involved in a difficult position

The Ugly- The bat has arrived with a chunk, dent, crack spolit what ever you wish to call it on the back inside edge. This has one can only assume during transit as there is also damage to the box as well. Now i was well aware that i was buying a bat that already had a defect but the guys at BB where open and honest from the start, i have now also got another ugly mark on an otherwise lovey piece of willow.

Finally before you see the pic just wanted to finally say thank you to Tai at BB. i sent him a Pm this evening when i got in from work and opened the box, he replied and i sent him the pics he then asked for my number and phoned me to apologise and offer me a further discount off the bat. I did refuse his kind offer as i do not believe that a company should lose out through no fault of there own and due to his excellent customer service this means more to me than a few £££ refund.

Anyway excuse the rant and hope you like the pics of my first BB

 >:( >:( >:( Damn couriers! They always do this to lovely bats... :( They did it to my Helios (my very best) and also some of my others... Doesn't affect the performance in any way, and it will play in very well! It's always less annoying when you have done the damage yourself, because you paid money for the bat, but when someone else does it, it always frustrates you! :-[ I would rub some PVA glue over the area, leave it to dry then sand it down lightly.

Great of the guys at BB to offer you a part refund for the bat, as I'm pretty darn sure they would be losing out, but shows that their customer service is top notch. 8)

Yes the bat was in bubble wrap sleeve and in a cardboard box. Very frustrated indeed mate. Tai said the same and its about the size of your thumb and is quite deep but I am sure a little tlc will look a lot better.

What couriers are u BB boys using as if u get a account set up it will cover issues like this as we haven't had anything damaged in transit in over 5 years.

You can then seek compensation if such incidents arise as well

I don't know mate I will look tomorrow at which courier was used. I may take this up directly with the courier as this is the 3rd time this has happened.

Ukmail are worth a shout as I used them before we had an official office and they were happy to collect from a residential address on an ad hoc basis

Looks a lovely bat that Chris, shame about the damage during transit. Would you be able to make a claim against the courier?

BB sent me 2 bats using Royal mail, transit time was 16 days and bats arrived with a minor dent on one bat and a major dent on the back of second one. Royal mail is the worst ever courier service i have ever experienced. BB bats and their service is excellent but they must take care while selecting courier service.

I'd suggest that it depends on which service you use from Royal Mail. Within the UK, special delivery is about as good as you can get.

When being sent internationally, all of them offer some risk.

Royal mail is just awful in general and has been for years!
