Here is something I never thougt I'd say:
I might not bother with winter nets this year, considering taking golf more seriously, to the extent cricket may come 2nd.

Not being a tit when batting, and patting a few more back.

I Love this and couldn't agree more!

Being a RH batsman, aim to  strengthen my left arm so that bottom hand becomes less dominant.

Had a below par season this year and too many ducks as an opener - I accept there's always good balls that can get you early but I've played stupid shots, so treating winter nets as an innings, rather than 'a hit.'

Need to work a bit on playing off the back foot and leg side - I always seem to go 'inside out' to play into the off side.

Fitness shouldn't' be a problem as I'm hopefully doing the London Marathon, but do need to do some weights work to avoid being so thin I have to run around in the shower to get wet...

After a very good coaching session, and finished with my highest score in 2 seasons of 22, i know not massive but first proper season playing again, so small steps and such as.
But lucky to have a really good net set up in derby so will be down there with a couple of the guys and even on my own going through all the basics and then learning to play to leg more with a straight bat as i tend to try and heave the ball by going backwards and praying i'm smashing the ball into the next countie, when what actually happens is, i miss the ball look like a tit and here the sound of ball hitting wicket.
So coming forward more and playing to leg are definately top of the list

Concentration is a big thing I'm going to work on and shot selection. Always been two major issues in my game and they cost me big scores at times.
That's it for batting really. This winter I'm really going to try and get my bowling sorted. Leg spin is so hard to bowl with little stumpy fingers :) always been able to turn the ball big but consistent length evades me, I seem to drag the ball down and pitch it short a lot.

Any tips from leggies on how to combat that would be appreciated.

Boozing.....

On a serious note, my nets don't start until late jan/early feb. How do you guys work on something all winter? Hire a net between friends/club mates off your own back or so people just net all winter with their clubs?

We will start our nets in early November although we won't net much, just a chance to do lots of drills really

Keeping, keeping, and more keeping, possibly with some keeping thrown in for good measure. First training session on Wednesday hopefully as long as the wife clears it.

Not overpitching the in-ducker.

Not being a tit when batting, and patting a few more back.

Yep, sounds like my plan too!!!

Whilst waiting for the wires to be taken out of my little finger I am contemplating how to try and avoid further injuries to my fingers, this season is the first time I have ever hurt myself, I have three very sore fingers and a broken one.

Not sure if this is bad technique, bad luck, or just something that was bound to happen as I throw myself around like an idiot attempting and sometimes taking catches that others wouldn't even go for.

As well as the above, I will be working on the line and length of my spin bowling, and trying to play "proper" when batting.
