anyone who has Sky on demand check the lara masterclass in 4 parts..

of.......course............we................can't....................bat...................like................him..................

but, everything is covered from sighting the ball, balance, head position, back fron, front front-the whole lot.

he stresses the importance of concentrating of getting runs, any area-just runs...

i've learnt a lot watching it and ive been playing for years
 :) :) :)

For those of us without Sky, anyone know if it's available anywhere else?

Found it - http://www1.skysports.com/cricket/news/12172/8837275/brian-lara-masterclass-how-to-bat-like-the-west-indies-legend

Well worth a watch - there's a reason his MRF bat was called wizard!

Had a below par season this year and too many ducks as an opener - I accept there's always good balls that can get you early but I've played stupid shots, so treating winter nets as an innings, rather than 'a hit.'

Need to work a bit on playing off the back foot and leg side - I always seem to go 'inside out' to play into the off side.

Fitness shouldn't' be a problem as I'm hopefully doing the London Marathon, but do need to do some weights work to avoid being so thin I have to run around in the shower to get wet...

First year of opening the batting last season. Im going to work on trying to rotate the strike and hitting hard through the line. Spent lots of time last season not wanting to get out, rather than looking to score.

Also plenty of leg back and shoulder work to try and bowl again. Be a long road after 4 years but batting always seemed easier when I could bowl as well.

Had a bit of a breakthrough year this year getting a batting average of 44+ for the season and a five wicket haul. im looking to keep it going and keep training all winter with nets at the oval on friday nights and indoor cricket at the weekends

I will be looking at trying to be a keeper for next season. Would be an interesting change to my game, considering im naff at everything else.

The edges of my bat take a beating, the middle is near enough new.
