What will you be working on this winter???
« on: August 19, 2013, 07:36:09 PM »

Just interested to find out what people will be working on over the winter in nets etc

Personally I want to work on driving down to long off instead of trying to work off my pads some times, also got out playing the cut shot a few times this season both caught not getting over it and playing on.

Also need to work on getting comfy behind the stumps again, not felt comfy this season for some reason when keeping, seem to have forgot what position I took when standing back. Not really affected my keeping overall ( not dropped a catch behind thr stumps so far this season) but just does not feel comfy

Not overpitching the in-ducker.

Not being a tit when batting, and patting a few more back.

Balance for when flicking through mid week....I tend to fall over when playing the shot which results in a knee high catch to mid wicket normally.....just lazy!

Fitness!

Last few seasons I've put timber on over winter, but always recovered in nets.
This year I didn't. Put too much on, and have struggled fitness wise. Need to stay in shape over the cold period

Same as most I think just batting in general as this season has been awful high score if 16 and way to many ducks getting out playing silly shots, but had s good session of batting coaching with Gary Palmer which was worth the travel alone as I've since felt better in the nets but intend to get down to Vitas fir a few indoor sessions to keep me ticking over maybe join an indoor team as well

Assuming there will be some winter nets.
Offside strokes, temperament and timing.
Playing bouncers and not getting hit.
Also will be working on developing a bit more fire power needed for 20 -20 style games.
And my leg spin and bowling no extras.

I'm currently doing the fast diet to lose weight before next season. I'm hoping to lose a couple of stone - fingers crossed.

I also want to work on my temperament when batting, especially patience, and learn to play the cut shot, the slog sweep and the back foot drive - too many times I'm going back trying to cut when it's too close to my body when I should be driving it.
