Remember Paul I was the first one to visit Salix before any one else  :D

Tushar, in fairness to Asad, we took all the best Salixes, so couldn't have been much left for him!  ;)  :D

Now now boys!! Lol. Paul I have seen your selection too, which for my bank balance is a very very very bad thing :D...that Torque you sent me last year is incredible

So how is it worked out who goes to where when? Is it just random luck or is it done on the size of your account? I'd have assumed they'd pander to their bigger customers? Everyone will have 'excellent relations' given the size of most forum sponsors.

Salix is a bit different to most as they are making bats all the time, so every day there is a new batch to look at.  Asad is right, he went about a week earlier than Chris and I did, but in that time, Andrew and his team had handled some new clefts, which Asad apparently hadn't had the chance to look at.

No real pecking order in terms of "bigger customers" with Salix, although they do offer Barringtons exclusivity for the AJK range.

I think they should invite all retailers down on one day and have a massive Royal rumble to work out who gets first pick

What about the main guys like GN, GM etc? I did love Kook when I wandered there to pick kit but again is that done randomly or by contract size?  Of course they might be getting new stuff in too every so often but I'd we assume you want your kit ASAP on new range day erc

GM don't let you hand-pick at all, and it's one of the main reasons we don't stock them any more...

GN are pretty fair - they tend to let Asad in before we get a look in, though! Maybe that will change over time, though!  ;)

Not always done by size. I am guessing talent cricket order more than us but we visited Gray Nics long before them. We visited before Paul too but that is not necessarily an advantage. There were no Vortex or Powerspots available for me to handpick, whereas Paul had a wide range to choose from.

The bigger brands get regular deliveries starting from November right through to early season. There is always something new to see. And despite what anyone says, it is impossible to look at every bat when visiting the biggest suppliers. There are simply too many to choose from.

I don't think we are in fight with each other. Can't discuss our relationship with suppliers as this is not the place. we all have our own way of hand picking bats and at the end of the day I am pretty happy what we have in stock. I would like to hand pick my bats when there is loads of stock and Yes i do go through majority of the stock. I think Paul can witness that when he was with me at Slazenger. I have been hand picking bats since we started our business.
Main thing for forum members and our customers is that they can buy us with confidence.
I won't go any further than what i have said and if any other forum sponser want to add more then they are more than welcome

which of the salix range has the lowest middle?

maybe the pictures dont do them justice but they all seem very skinny towards the toe area which is something that puts me off about them.
obviously not the ideal spot to be hitting on the bat, but digging out yorkers and fullish deliveries is not ideal coming off a skinny toe.

everyone on here seems to rave about them so they obviously are class, and a review i watched recently stated they are one of the best brands in the UK.

id say the Prestantia has the lowest middle, as that is the one designed for the player that likes to drive the ball, I do know what you mean regarding the toes but I have had many, many salix bats. I only ever had an issue with one which I sent back and they repaired it in two weeks and sent out a replacement that I could use in the interim (as it was still in season) and I know they have done something a bit different this year to the toes, go have a look at one in the flesh to see. You wont be disappointed with the way a Salix plays............

there is always the option of contacting Salix to ask for a thicker toe too ?? like others have said they make bats year round

I use low or mid-low middle bats, hence my hesitation in buying salix bats, but I got a torque last year which worked very well entire season for me....

thanks Yogi,

i would love to go visit, but being from Aus makes that 1 very expensive bat....maybe my boss could give me a yr off (with pay) to go check all these workshops out and i could bring them all home with me. :D
watching all the videos and pics of tours makes me very jealous that im not living in England atm, although its probably not an ideal time to travel as an aussie over there i might not come back alive.

everyone rates them highly so im sure i wouldnt be disapointed in them. Im just narrowing down my potential list of companies and atm thats becoming very difficult.
