Thats ridiculous.
Keeper says its a catch, then its a catch, end of story,  umpires mucked that up and have made butler look bad as a result when he hasnt done anything wrong.

Quite.  Clear, clean catch - even the batsman accepted it.

I have to say the bowling unit came up with a great plan when they said, we have to make sure we bowl multiple longhops each over as it will scare the Aussie openers.

This is where we will miss an in form Swann who would come on early and stem the flow. There isn't even a spinner in the side? What's going on? Buttler bats at 8 and Bopara is the 5th bowler? Strange team selection.

Gold.

Its a catch 22 though.  At MCG the shortest boundary is straight, so both teams have tried to make the batsmen hit square.  Trouble is, blokescat this level dont have much issue with short bowling.

As I write, rankin pitches up and gets smashed straight.......

I would have thought england could have made better use of butler who has been sensational in bbl3, as has hales.....wright, etc ..im not sure cook is in englands best odi team.....

they didnt make enough  runs and arent taking any wickets,  aust will cruise to victory with a number of overs to spare.

Couldn't agree more!

England and AUstralia seem to have very different theories as regards the selection fo their ODI teams - England go for conventional cricketers at the top of the order, whereas Australia pack their side with hitters all the way down.

Our team selection is a joke. Root who is so out of form gets dropped from the test side, yet he's still first choice no.3. Cook isn't even in the best 6 ODI batsmen in England and with his current form shouldn't have even been considered for selection. Buttler at 8 and no spinner. Just how can they get it so wrong!

3 of the top 4 is the same as the test team..
I think thats because of whats around atm.  Usually aust will have an anchor man to bat around, marsh has played thzt role most recently.
Eng have the perfect anchor man in bell, but you cant open with 2 of them.   I would have bell and hales at the top. With the almost t20 field restrictions at both ends of the innings and 2 new hard balls, you need a striker or 2r in the top 3.  Cook bell root is probably the worst 3 eng could put together from what looks like an embarrassment of riches in the squad.

England have lost one of the best accumulator in ODI cricket - Trott.  Someone who can keep the board ticking over.

They need to find one who can do this, and fast, or change their batting mentality.

Whilst WArner and WAtson are int eh top three of the test side, they are definitely hitters rather than accumulators!

Nah, accumulators, just very quickly and in multiples of 4  :) although in multiples of 0 in wattos case tonight....... could you be any earlier on that shot.....thats why I hated 3, open or 4, not 3, youre either in openi g anyway or sitting waiting too long
