I have played in Tucker 1 for a while Dunc.

We are back in Tucker 2 this year after forming a new club and starting again as it were.

The East Anglian Prem is a very good standard by all reports. If we were to ever win Tucker 1 and by some miracle negotiate the playoffs i would almost certainly get myself a nice comfortable gig in the 2's as i know i would be little more than a bit part player at that level.

I've played against Cambourne, can't say i remember any helmets to be honest. I'll be calling by to drop off your goodies at your workplace in Somersham tomorrow on my way to Hunts mate. :)

Our league doesn't really require helmets apart from the odd (read regular) unintended beamer, if someone bowls short and it gets near head height its more to do with worms than ability or track!!

(if you park in the customer car park and go to the goods in entrance which is in the main carpark and ask for me, I'll come and meet you!!)

Seeing as you was at our level in the ydcl, before moving, what do you rate the syscl divisions like in comparison?

Be interesting to meet in the midweek league next year too. See if you've moved up a level in play.

Division 2 was just a league full of teams from like the top of Division 1 in the YDCL, basically like playing yourself/Holmesfield/Parkhead etc every week so very, very competetive and managed to win it last year with the addition of a couple of very good players.

Division 1 will be a massive step up with every team fielding a pro or overseas player.

We found in division 2 that the batting was very simlar to YDCL (top teams) but the bowling to be much, much better. You just don't get any bad balls to put away like you do in the YDCL.

Midweek is a bit funny really, last year it was mostly made up of 2nd teamers so doesn't really give a reflection of our Saturday team. Probably only 3-4 maybe 5 1st teamers play.

Not quite the type of helmet i was referring to ;) - you said you were hated but i don't call any aggro when i played.

No problem mate.

LMFAO, talk about wrong end of stick!! You must've had a good day then, who were you playing for at the time? I don't have much time for 75% of the 1st team to be honest, alot of 'we're not as good as we think' attitude going on!!

It's be cool to play weekly competitive cricket. I've found in the ydcl, that if you play hundall and cents. You tend to drop your standard, so you then come across holmesfielld(who previously played parkhead and unistaff) you struggle as there at there best, and your not,
But then later on in the seasons, it happens the opposite way.
Be much better playing high quality cricket every week,

Midweek A division is similar to ydcl league 1. The prem is a step up and a half! We struggled and had 11 1st teamers most week in the prem. was an eye opener.

Fullers Surrey Championship - 3X1 league - we are entering our 4XI this year.

I don't think there can physically be a lower level!

Yeah, I recon we may struggle in Midweek A next year with the team we are able to turn out.

Was a few years back, would have been for march or doddington. Couldn't tell you in what competition.

There is a lot of that in local cricket mate, it is the case at most clubs.

I really miss playing for Stapleford, was a total delight playing there, some genuine ability and played there for 13 years since I was 16. Can only think of one guy who had that I think I'm better than I am, but then he was an estate agent ;)!!

South Northants League, mostly for the seconds in Div 3 (Div 4 this year), but have played and opened for the firsts in the Prem - without a great deal of success!

I'm torn between wanting to do well and getting selected for the firsts on merit, or enjoying opening and keeping in the 2nds.  Usually a couple of decent innings gets you called up to the firsts, which is great, but I tend to find I lose rhythm and form as a batsman with the chopping and changing.  Plus I'm 38, so hardly likely to be attempting to climb the performance ladder!

Great club though - great lads, great banter and (Jake) great teas!
