Any SS bats not bought from either ICC or VKS will not be covered by any warranty or guarantee in the UK.

I will get mine through the right and legitimate channels. NO back door imports on grey marketing. I rather not sell than doing hanky-panky business

Hunts range looks awful, dated and poor design of stickers and shapes, mostly Indian imports and have being going down the drain for a number of years, can clearly remember when they were spoken of as the best bats going.

are they still making soft toes with minimal quality control.... Were they at the Lords trade show?

saying that I saw BDM last year and wasn't overly impressed with them either.

P.S  Sorry my question is coming out from not have any connection to this topic.

Talisman/someone, as a bat maker if you could tell me what is actuall willow grading  ?? I know good bat makers get different grades of willow and then further grade its self. How is that being done ?? Does grading make willow quality better in its performance/density ???

thanks

This is rubbish. Who told you this? BAS have their own factories in Jalandhar in North India.

every company has a different grading system. Some have a very simple grading system like Newbery (SPS, Players and 5*) or Salix (Grade One and Performance), others have very elaborate ones 250, 500, 750, 1000.....

It is not necessary that grade 1 willow will play like grade 1 (as the primary grading is done based on the grain structure, weight of the cleft etc). Anything with blemishes or heartwood is graded lower. Often bats with heartwood and butterfly marks play at par or better than some grade 1's. Bats with Heartwood will not last as long as bats made from sapwood and bats with tighter grains will have a shorter life as compared with broad grains bats thought they will play better faster. Some G1 bats from GN (pro performance) have not the most good looking willow but play quite well (probably grading is based on the performance rather than looks)

Mike or Norb can give you more info than me.

Hunts range looks awful, dated and poor design of stickers and shapes, mostly Indian imports and have being going down the drain for a number of years, can clearly remember when they were spoken of as the best bats going. I have had direct dealings with Kippax and it is a case of barge poles I'm afraid.

Any SS bats not bought from either ICC or VKS will not be covered by any warranty or guarantee in the UK.

I have not seen a BAS yet that made me want to buy it, but have seen bucket loads of quality SS.

What on earth will be different on a Onlinestockist Kookaburra RP than an English one? Nothing in my opinion save the price, both unremarkable £60 bats sold for a lot more because RP himself uses the same stickers.

Few corrections to ur email:
SS bought from us will be covered by SS gurantee as well as ours. All our bats are shipped to us direct from the SS factory.

Regarding BAS bats, may be u could visit me and I'll show you the Quality and finish on the bats. In my view they are  as good as SS bats if u compare on the same price band.

Asad

Generally JS Wrights grading system is used, which you probably know. This allows a high percentage to grade based on the "MGS" [money grading system] if it looks good sell high...

There is no standard grading system within the cricket bat industry you could be sold a beaut of bat that is an absolute dog to play with because of the manufacturering process and an ugly looking bat that is excellent because it has been made well....

In general though MGS is used this is not a new phenomeon though...

Close grained red willow was favoured by W. G. Grace and others for its superior driving powers and mammoth hits. By the end of of the 1800s the fashion had shifted to almost all white wood cricket bats this had no real foundation other then from the salesmans point of view a white bat probably ‘looked’ better in a sports shop window. This inturn lead to willow hybrids and “Salix Alba Caerulea”.

SS have taken the step of only selling their bats into the UK via their agent the Incredible Cricket Company who will sell to the retail outlets or direct from VKS as they have such a long history dealing with SS. They will not be sending any more bats to UK, or why go to such lengths to set up the whole deal.

Where are Lukey Sports based as cannot see it anywhere on the internet or any records?
