Had our first outdoor net today, and I felt absolutely wank. Friendly tomorrow, so hopefully I can play a bit better aha!

Haha, and I did! Although I'm glad I bought new spikes, took my old ones out of my bag for the first time since last game #theystink

First game today. Was not a normal game for me. But thought I did okay,

Now I've opened last 2 years, but will be 5 this year, due to a New opener. But as he isn't available next week, I will be opening, so was asked to bat 3 for practice, get in some kind of opening mentality(???)

I've never batted 3 in my life!

Came in after 16overs. Score was on 45or so. I scored 26 of 42 balls. 3 lovely square cuts for 4 rest singles and twos.
Me and my usual opener put on 58 before he fell.
I followed 8 balls later to a Jaffa of an in singing Yorker.

So another 50 plus partnership for us next week will be a good start to the year. Will see how it goes.

Opened with my new opening partner and we had a 200+ stand in 35 overs. He got 100+ again and I fell on 74 :(

Still, that's two innings together and we avg 375 together :) only got out as I tried to ramp the quickie (not a shot I can play), to give others a bat. Otherwise it would have been easy to plod to a ton tbh

That a league game? Or a friendly game(just judging on the give others a bat comment)

600 runs in our game today, played Bidborough and they racked up 315-6 against our fairly weak attack, very small ground as well with a short boundary on one side. The track was a road as well so a death trap for bowlers, no turn, good pace and hot through the line

We managed 290 in reply and with all those runs I managed to pull the ball off the actuall toe of my bat (lovely cherry on the toe) and get caught by the bowler diving one handed. Our No 3 made 131 which was good although we won't see him in may/June as his having his first child.

Also one of the coldest days I can remember playing cricket in but a good game all in.

Firs friendly today against oppo from same league. We posted 270 for 5 off our 45 overs, i didnt bat. Came on 1st change and nabbed 4 for 33 off 8 overs and ended up winning by 100 runs. Alot of positives from game and we gave 40-50 run too many at end. Legs are well and truely battered after 8 overs!

Have to agree with you. Today was only the 2nd time I can remember playing cricket during the Easter weekend and this afternoon was in total contrast to the previous occasion 3 years ago where it was so warm that we had to stop for drinks 3 times. I turned out for my former club in a friendly and as we batted first, I umpired for 35 overs during the first innings. That probably wasn't a very good idea because when I came to bowling, I was so stiff that I just couldn't get through the wicket (with my bowling action) and took until the 3rd over to deliver anything remotely where I wanted it. Got a wicket from an absolute pie of a ball which the batsman despatched down to deep backward square but straight into the hands of a fielder.

Quite a few strange dismissals today and even stranger non-dismissals. The pick of these incidents was one of our batsman mistiming a shot and it lobbed up to mid off for a regulation catch. The chance was dropped but the batsman had already turned around and starting walking off yet some calamitous fielding still allowed him to get down to the bowler's end and collect a single.

If I wasn't crocked enough during the match, I then managed to get run over by a sightscreen at the end of it.
