It really is all in the mind this game!

I'm playing at a really low level at the moment, and have just returned after 4 or 5 weeks out. Batted like a nervous kitten for a streaky 8 and never felt in - didn't get asked to bowl as we were only defending 88. We lost heavily.

Drove back to the club thinking I would just jack it all in, or move clubs or do something else - was about to sell all my kit etc.

Then slept on it, and thought all about it today, and came to the conclusion that I love this game, and that I CAN bat and I CAN bowl at this level, and to suck it up, stop being a Doris and try again.

I'm old and fat, but this game is like golf or squash - you just can't give it up whilst the body is still willing!

Yesterday was interesting.

Our 2nd team claimed the toss as opposition skipper was not at the ground. 8 other opposition players were so don't know why none of them stepped up to do it.

Blasted top order out and they scraped to 130 than knocked it off for 1.

Our 3s chased 40 overs of leather with oppo scoring 330-ish. Opening stand of 312. One lad batted through for 89no and other smashed 213.

Another week, another woeful batting collapse. We had 49 overs to chase 170, our track is a road so it should be regulation. I went in at 60-1 after 10 overs, we were cruising. Very quickly we are 117-8 and I'm still at the other end, fortunately our 10 & 11 are the most experienced players I know and have 100 centuries between them. Ended up winning in the last over but have got to blame the middle order for putting us in the position we found ourselves.

On the upside I've found myself in great form, 3 50's and a hundred in the last 4 innings

Another ton today, not a false shot, no play and miss and not a sniff to the oppos. Played authentic cricket shots and nothing in the air. Great day. Team lost by about 7 runs in the end as three of us were retired out :(, so we couldn't go in and win it. Shame but over 500 runs scored and 18 wickets falling so a great Sunday game

Played Saturday, lost the toss and was asked to bat, opened up and scored 23 before being given lbw. Not sure if it was or wasn't but it was given. We posted 264 from 46 overs. Our aussie hit 119 and our keeper hit 52.

Bowled them out for 143 from 34 overs. I managed a cheeky 5-54 with my offies. It was a good win for us in the end to cement our 3rd position in the league.

Cheers up Cattus, those Cheetah gloves would add at least another 5-10 runs to your average!

You just those gloves and a few nets and you will be back up and running ha ha

Still struggling for league runs, however i am in line to captain the 1st XI this weekend which would be a bit of a proud moment, probably the youngest person to do it for years/ever!

Managed to bash 5 sixes in a row at LMS last night, for those of you who don't know LMS are only 5 ball overs so didn't have a chance to go for the 36!

When you use a bat heavier than Chris Gayle, even your checked drives will sail out of the ground. Well done on 5 sixes in a row, never hit a six ever in proper cricket!

How's Bennie Ian ? See it was against Potterne who we played last week. I said that Roberts was rapid.
