You only said that your partner had only faced 5 balls in the first 7 overs, he could have faced loads more in the next 32 and just not got off the mark!  ;)

One that doesn't run quick singles or threes!

As a fully paid up member of fat club I ran a 3 with another of my rather round club mates last season, they were apparently placing bets on who would keel over first!  :D

I was run out 4 times by Greg last year in league and friendly cricket. He has been clocked over 100m at sub 11 seconds. I'm 6ft2, 200lbs and have very few fast twitch leg muscles...

Each time I sacrificed myself to let him stay in, so he would probably say someone who bats around him. I would say someone who isn't 10 years my junior who has the sprint speed of a Cheetah!!!

I always bat better when batting with my best mate, I'm not much of a batsmen but my top scores of 24* and 14* came when batting with him. Last game of the season when I made 14* off 6 we put on a 30 odd partnership on the way to his maiden half century. I think it's because we know each other so well were confident in what each other calls etc.

I ran a five before, and I nearly lapped my batting partner!

I have to agree with what most are saying about batting with either a friend or in my case I have been lucky to bat
On a Sunday with our first team left hander who bats at 3 who runs very well which is good for me as I like quick singles and twos,

Issues batting with the youngsters they have no idea of a quick single and most of the time just stand looking in La la land,
I reckon we had quite a few run outs in all our teams due to this reason

I have two...
1. Love batting with someone who has the ability to turn over the strike.
2. Love batting with people who can smack the bowling around. Allows me time to settle in and simply rotate the strike

Having given it some careful consideration I've decided I like batting with someone who's more sh*t than me!
As I come in down the order I can let them throw their wicket away which leaves me with a cheeky not out  ;)

I enjoy batting with someone who bats properly, isn't a blocker but isn't one of these modern guys who just goes at everything because that's what the pros do.. Difference is, they are actually good!!

Just bat peoperly, each ball on its merits. Someone who also scores in different areas to me helps as oppos bowlers need to adjust and that presents runs.

I prefer to get defensive so I like my partner to be able to score the runs.  Seems to work well.

One that can bat and doesn't rely on me scoring runs as I don't last long!

Preferably, one who looks for singles and doubles, and who's experienced enough to let me know when I come in what the bowlers bowling like.

For instance:
Came out to bat, batting partner was there, told me that the bowler had a fast run up but average pace, that's all I needed. Blocked the first ball, second ball was a hook shot for four and my first ever boundary  :D

I think like everyone says a partner who can rotate the strike (especially helpful as im a lefty) . Ive just started opening so ive batted with the same guy a lot, we rotate and have a good understanding of what bowlers we like to faceand the areas we can each score more freely, for instance I am stronger of the back foot whereas he will drive and be more front foot dominant - sometimes batting a foot plus out of the crease. This helps me because the bowlers lengths are very different.  Weve put on 60* ,124, 98 86 and 79 and a poor 13. We have good fun while we bat,.
