Depends on the condition of the scuff sheet and if there is any damage behind it. I tend to find scuff sheets hide little cracks well so I like to rrkove ans replace to monitor the face and cracks.

If you want to keep it on, just oil the back.

@wayward_hayward , Thanks for the tip. I put the scuffs on last year and the bats don't look to have any damage at all.
I feel that some of them weren't stored very well during the dry winter months as there was 24 hrs heat running in the house. So I feel I should remove scuffs to oil the face properly.

Damn scuff sheets are getting expensive once you join the forum and start having a bat collection.

Update time! It's been too long since I updated so here goes nothing.

Couple of club mates bats were given some TLC, the one of the left is the Bumblebee bat from the previous post and an a Norfolk Viper. Bumblebee had some rather large cracks on the face and toe, while the Norfolk had one large surface crack.

Bats have switched places, both have scrubbed up well with the @Blenheim Cricket Roxborough stickers.

Latest project is another teammates Kookaburra Kahuna, my least favourite brand to refurb due to the heavy concaving and time taken to get it all one colour.

Another long overdue update! As the season has drawn closer, I have had a few teammates needing repairs so that has taken most of my time.

First up is the Kahuna from the previous post. My dislike for heavy concaving and large stickers has grown larger. The guy got some spider stickers to finish it off, they look pretty good to be honest.

Next up is this old school Hawk that is an absolute monster. Weighs 2'15 and is a proper old school profile. Really enjoyed working on this bat, had a certain something that made it a smooth process. Apart from the toe damage, the bat is in fantastic condition.

As you may have seen in a previous thread I had some minor toe damage to my SS.
As the scuff sheet was off, and "Cheeky Nando's" was trending on social media, I thought it would've been rude not to do a "Cheeky Refurb".

My 1990s GN Powerspot had been put to one side for several years. I rediscovered after having lent it to a friend who was new to cricket and just playing some indoor stuff. Last time I visited him and we played some nets in Basford (Notts) the scuff sheet started to impart on every delivery until there was almost as much fibreglass on the ball as the bat. That being said it had a lovely pick-up and the ball came off brilliantly. So being short on time I sent it to GN to refurb and well you can see for yourself�.. What amazes me now is that they bothered to put an extrtec sheet on it back in the 90's. The heartwood down the LH's outside would be desirable now, and owning an Aldred butterfly I am much less picky on appearances - an indeed agreed with the experiences of others in that the ball comes of butterfly stain well - tho with a slightly more shrill noise. Enjoy the pics, I like the new stickers better than my originals.

when it came back i could scarcely believe it was the same bat except for the deep stud mark on the back of the toe where i tripped over and trod on my bat when i was about 16yo. a real beauty. even the guy at gray nicholls was pleased!

A combination of little time on my hands means I haven't done an awful lot of woodwork recently. However, I have finally finished a bat I started about 3 months ago! I also have 3 others on the refurbishment production line so hopefully I can keep this thread a bit more up to date over the coming weeks. Anyhow, onto tonight's bat.

No need to lie about this bat, it is a bit of a minger for sure. More imperfections on it's face than a teenage boy! However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it does have its positives. I have no idea who made this bat, all I know is that it came with Aussie Newbery stickers. My guess would be Indian made from my trained bat nerd eyes.

2lb 4oz! No need to describe the pick up, you can guess from the weight. For a bat of this weight, it certainly isn't a plank and feels rather forgiving! Cheers to Dean for the stickers, think these blue stickers look top quality. Sadly the bat is far too light for my liking so this will be moved onto a team-mate or on here at some stage.

Another bat finished! A couple of weeks ago I bought 2 Hunt County bats from @tommo256 that needed a bit of TLC. Apart from a couple of cracks, they looked it good order. Here are a couple of photos of the pair together.

Started work on the better condition bat first (on the left in the pictures above). After gluing the cracks and leaving to dry, I spent a couple of hours sanding away to create this little beauty. I'm delighted how it has turned out and the @Vulcan Cricket stickers look superb. Its so good, I'm tempted to use it! Bat weighs in at 2lb 10oz and I would say feels it weight when waving it around the kitchen.
