England-Trek The Next Generation?
« on: February 14, 2015, 10:50:47 AM »

After listening to yet another England fumbling ODI performance, it seems to me that a lot of the England regulars are simplky blocking up spaces and restricting development and improvement.

Many of the youngsters coming in are performing without fear and actually doing quite well.

I don't see the point of retaining Bell, Morgan and Bopara ahead of  Ballance, Taylor, Vince and Roy.

Similarly, pension off Finn, Broad and Anderson - what is the point of flogging them in these internationals to the detriment off their Test performances?

Why not promote Brooks, Wood, Gurney and even Parry or Rashid, and let them learn in the very real arena of internationals?

Whilst this may seem harsh on Finn, Bell and Tredwell - why not change it, none of these players are setting ODI's alight with any consistency and the England team is going backwards.

Younger players may have a rough introduction, but they should be keener to learn and perform with less fear?

Finn is part of the future rest agree..

Not sure about the bowlers you mention bar Rashid.

Vince big time and Stokes and Roy need a chance.

Just heard Morgan roll out the classic line 'we didn't execute blah blah blah'

I'll execute some of you muppets soon!

Woeful performance.

Dear England Players and Management - have some backbone, have some personality and talk to your fans (who ultimately pay your wages) in language they can understand.

Morgan is shot, he needs to go home now. Win the toss and you think about bowling then you bat.

woakes keeps proving he's not good enough.

frustrating england again, but I am chuffed for finn and taylor.

Finn was murdered.

Taking a hattrick at the end with three blokes going the tonk to try and hit a six is still a hattrick - but Finn's embarrassed smile tells you how highly he rated it.

Possibly the worst five fer I have seen in many years.

Taylor on the other had played extremely well...

Atleast finn is bowling again. I would happily take a hattrick even if its three blokes trying to belt me out the ground in the last three balls of a game!

Wouldnt you?

Taylor does look a very decent player so some positives, even if they are small ones!!!

We have some great young players. I think the problem is we simply don't pick our best side.

Below are all under 24 I think.

Root (c)
Hales
Ballance
Taylor
Bairstow
Stokes
Buttler (wk)
Woakes
Finn
Briggs
Topley

Robson, Vince, Lees, Willey, Borthwick, Wood, Kerrigan, Roy, Billings, Hain, Overton etc.

What's worrying is that a player the size of a prepubescent youngster is the only player who didn't have fear in his eyes while holding a bat. Too many scars for too many of the players. I would happily see a team of youngsters go out and fail initially while gaining experience than watch our current selection win a couple against poor sides and get battered by the strong sides in the tournament. Can't see much of a different game v NZ either to be honest

I think Swanny said on the radio that the hat trick simply 'glossed' some very average figures

I'm sorry Fattus.. you are on the 'outside' of cricket. You do not matter or have an opinion :)

agree on sacking off half the team though, might as well lose blooding players who are hungry than flogging dead horses who are not really doing it anyway.
