Lost today opposition scored 160 one of our guys bowled the last 4 overs and went for 36 we made 117 all out our usual number 10 and 11  had to go early so they opened the innings consequently we were 2 wickets down for no runs after 4 overs went into bat at 4 when the oppositions tail  was up batted for 25 overs hit on both thighs wrist and shoulder but pleased with the way I hooked and pulled the quicks as they  tried to bounce me out we had one run out given which wasn't and one LBW which clearly hit the bat first no wonder we struggle to get players with decisions like that.

That's it. I've had it.

Standing in the field in freezing temps with the rain lashing down isn't what I signed up for and as a result, I'm going on strike until the sun shines. Then, after 50 overs fielding, it's called before I bat!  :( doesn't help when the rack up 240 in 40 overs either and you, despite being a constant deliverer last year, are left alone at cover or mid wicket! 😭

So, as this was my return to cricket for the season it could just well be the end as I really don't enjoy days like this and the negative effect they have on me and life I'm generally.

Therefore, cricket could be finished for me  :-[

Played my first game of the season in an under strength second team against the league leaders. Despite only having 2 of our main bowlers and one part time spinner we got the oppo all out for 150, then made a pig's ear of the batting and got all out for 87. I came in at 10 (not happy about it either) and made 4 from 5 balls, all 4 coming from the most bizarre boundary i've ever seen get hit. How the hell I managed to miss time a cut so badly that it came off the side of the bat (not the edge, the actual side), i'll never know.

Our first win in 4 games today. We finished 180 all out with 2 balls remaining I finished on 9 not out.Opened the bowling got 2/37. Should/could've had a 5fer.2 drops, one at cover one in the slips and had one that hit the bat then both pads hit the stumps but the bails didn't budge.we won in the end by 87 runs.a few beers tonight to celebrate

Another 50+ score. Nicked off and walked to find out the umpire wouldn't have given it. Oppos said thanks but it's the right thing to do.

Close game today but managed to hold on for a winning draw with a lot of young lads called up from the 3rds due to some absentees in both the 1sts plus 2nds you really can't ask for much more. We got 193 for 5 and chasing they ended on 180 odd for 7. Decent day for me personally - first bat of the season and got 71* tweaking my hamstring in the process then reeled off / hobbled through 13-4-38-2. I'm in bits and feel my age!

A team mate was looking for a bat but didn't want to spend much money so during our last training match I said he could use my old Warrior if he wanted. I wouldn't sell it to him because it was looking a little worse for wear but he could use it.

He used it in the nets and loved it.

He used it in today's game and this happened.

They were chasing a modest total and got it with one ball to spare btw.

Inswingers should be an automatic no ball!

My season started and could've finished in 5 balls today.

Damaged knee ligaments 4 weeks ago and thought I was fit enough to play today. Felt ok running/jogging.

Was batting at 3 going went  in after a century opening partnership. Creamed a cover drive first ball that was reluctantly stopped by cover. 5th ball, when on 5 went back to play a cut and knee went again, collapsed in a heap costing me two runs. Retired hurt for the first time in my life then hobbled around the field for 36 overs.

Fortunately we won by 50 runs so not all bad.

Knee on ice and hammering the vodka for pain relief of course.....

Put the oppo in to bat and we had a reasonable start with them 2 for 40 off 15, but then several dropped catches off my bowling (a couple pretty tough ones, but 2 absolute dollies)  saw their number 2 get 80 and number 4 get a ton. They ended up with 282 for 5 off 42 overs declared. My figures were ok compared to our other bowlers but gutted those catches didn't stick.

We started badly with 2 down in first 5 overs but a resilient knock by our number 3 and a few other partners meant we saw out our overs with wickets to spare for a hard earned draw. I was next man in so didn't get a chance to use my new bat which is now fully knocked in, so will just have to wait for the next game.

The weather was beautiful, needed sun cream and lots of drink - all in all a great days cricket.
